(ThyBlackMan.com) Dr. Wayne Dyer describes people as eagles and ducks.
With a majority of Americans voting to give the undeserving Obama a second term, I felt like the odd-man-out voting against him. It occurred to me that I have a history of being odd-man-out, not in sync with the thinking of my family and friends.
When I was in junior high school, my dad acknowledged my artistic talent and encouraged me to pursue a career in that field. Dad said, “You could be a great black artist someday.” While I appreciated Dad’s support, I thought, “ Why can’t I simply be a great artist? Why must my success be limited to the black world?”
Admittedly, I probably misinterpreted the meaning of Dad’s statement. The reason is because my family and friends appeared to view the world through a narrow black lens, limiting blacks to certain tastes and behaviors. I was criticized and looked at suspect for enjoying music beyond R&B, black Gospel and Jazz. I have always dealt with people as individuals. Thus, I was criticized for having “too many white friends”. Early on, I viewed the world as my oyster, eager to explore life beyond the American “black experience”.
Though they love me, family and friends have been furious with me on numerous occasions over the years for not participating in their group think or indulging in unauthorized black behavior.
Rejecting Barack Obama is my latest offense. Not only did I reject the first black president, family and friends found it incomprehensible that I chaired a PAC against him.
So, why have I never quite fit in with my family and friends? Why have I suffered their rebuke all these years? Finally, I understand. They are ducks. I am an eagle.
Obama’s reelection has concerned eagles concluding that America has become a huge duck pond. In Obama’s duck pond, high flying independent self-reliant eagles are mandated to have their wings clipped, limiting their ability to fly to hovering slightly above the pond. This will not enhance the life of one duck other than appeasing their envy of the eagle’s “unfair” ability to fly high.
When Obama touts hard work, he is really only talking to eagles. Ducks are encouraged to chill-out and rely on government. Eagles are ordered to deliver most of what they gather to government Lilly pads to be redistributed. Ducks simply waddle or float to the nearest Lilly pad to receive freebies delivered via the hard work, sweat and risks of eagles. Free duck-phones are a huge hit.
In Obama’s new duck pond America, high minded eagle ideas such as personal responsibility and ambition to build a better life for ones self and their family are criminalized. Obama’s vision is no duck having more than another sharing equally for the good of the pond.
To the horror of us eagles, a majority of Americans are ignorant naïve ducks who believe Obama’s vision will ensure prosperity for all floating around the pond. Dear Lord help us, please!
There is a reason why the Bald Eagle was chosen to symbolize America. It is a bird of great vision and resilience which refuses to be controlled or contained. Its rights and desire to be free are gifted by God.
Eagles simply can not and will not allow Obama’s duck pond to become the permanent new standard of what it means to be an American. Despite the decree of the Imperial Ruler of the pond, eagles will stealthily conceive new ways to regrow their wings to fly high, soaring higher than ever before. Such is the spirit and nature of the American eagle.
Unquestionably, Obama’s reelection is a monumental devastating defeat of us eagles. Currently in America, ducks rule!
Eagles across America have already begun to regroup, plan new strategies and ways to educate a nation now dominated by clueless ducks.
For ever long as it takes, American eagles will not give up or surrender until a majority of Obama ducks are defeated or miraculously transformed into eagles. Eagles will not rest until Obama’s duck pond America is restored back to its divinely ordained role as the largest greatest eagle’s nest on the planet.

Royalblue19: Granted, there are plenty of proverbial vultures that swim with ducks … but then again, it is certain eagles around here who are trying to paint themselves as drawing a purely moral victory out of a considerable defeat. I notice you cannot refute the facts about the vultures on the Republican side, and what they did — and I know nobody has eluded their cheating ways, for they will be back to try it again in two years, not four. But they will not do so without being roundly called out, and occasionally THUMPED, which is what happened on Election Day. There can be no moral victory while winking at chicanery on the scale practiced by some of Mitt Romney’s backers.
For the record, I am neither Democrat nor Republican, and my work profile and general belief system would class me in Lloyd’s book as an eagle. I find the vultures in both parties sickening, and I’m tired of both sides focusing on the two-by-fours in the other side’s eyes without pulling out the two-by-fours in their own first. Vultures will eat eagles AND ducks… so I hope that at some point the Republicans rid themselves of their vultures, and the Democrats rid themselves of theirs.
I have always thought of myself as a big fish in a little pond. I will now refer to myself as an eagle. Its hard being an eagle in this climate. To Ms Matthews, I guess many ducks have selected their vultures just as eagles have. In now way should ducks feel that they have eluded the vultures. More to the point, the are bigoted people in the democratic party just as in the republican because bigotry knows no party boundary. Some in the democratic party have decided their purse strings trump color. Some have determined that the poor minorities are in need of assistance kind of like Madonna and her Malawi children. It makes them feel good, whether it does you any good is debatable. To Mr. Lewis Orr, I have often asked myself if the people in Sodom and Gomorah thought Lot and his wife where party poopers.
It seems like the Republicans aren’t the only ones with a bitter pill to swallow after President Barack Hussein Obama’s win! America has been on a landslide into decadence for the last 40 years and it didn’t start four years ago as some of you seem to imply. You people are in one serious case of denial about each and every thing and to think I thought this was a progressive website.
@lewis orr you are so correct about the Republican party. Too bad they couldn’t gather up a lot of black folks, either educated or under educated who have nothing but contempt for the president to advance their cause.
Lloyd,
It sounds like you need to get back on the bus.
It is interesting that you feel isolated… at least 47-48 percent of the voting public voted exactly as you did, so, even if we leave your logic to stand, that would mean the country is nearly half eagles. Hardly a duck pond.
But, let’s be fair here, Mr. Eagle — you and several other eagles ought to be careful who you fly with. Your flight formation included people who tried to intimidate their workers into voting for your candidate. Your flight formation included people who were so certain they couldn’t win fair and square that they tried to change a whole bunch of laws in swing states to deal with supposed voter fraud that never existed, and also jiggered with days, times, and polling locations so many voters couldn’t easily exercise their right to vote. Your flight fomration involved people whose main goal — and I quote the sign — was to “Put White Back in the White House,” without much apparent regard for the larger issues. Your flight formation completely turned off vast majorities of some of the hardest working people in the country — for although you may think of our own Black people as lazy (falsely, I might add), you cannot parse away 69 percent of Hispanics and 75 percent of Asians quite so easily.
There is nothing wrong with flying like an eagle, Lloyd — I know a lot of eagles on both sides of the political divide. Just be careful who you fly with, thinking you are a cut above. Look around carefully… there are some vultures in your flight formation…
We now have this post election out cry by far right wing conservatives, Who can not believe that there aren’t enough under educated bigots in this country, to off set the women’s vote, the Mexican vote, the Black vote, the gay vote, and the youth vote. They long ago threw the Black vote under the bus and thought they could continue down that path. The republicans are so pig headed they think they can change people and not their own party. The day of the stogie smoking white man that controlled everything is over. Until the republican party can come to this realization they will become more and more unrelevant. This isn’t the party of Lincoln and Rosoovelt and even Reagan would be ashamed of them.
