(ThyBlackMan.com) Wiz Khalifa was born Cameron Jibril Thomaz on September 8, 1987 in Minot, North Dakota. His parents were in the military and moved around the world. The young rapper entered into the rap world in the late nineties –dropping mixtapes to create a buzz about his lyrical abilities. In 2006, Wiz Khalifa debuted his first album entitled, Show and Prove, through Warner Bros. Records. The artist left the record company in 2009 and moved on to Atlantic Records.
In 2011, Wiz Khalifa debuted his second album to critical acclaim entitled, Rolling Papers. The first single that dropped, Black and Yellow peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. As an artist, Wiz Khalifa has stated publicly that he loves to smoke cannabis and does not shy away from his critics in regard to his fetish.
As a young child, his grandfather named his Wiz and Khalifa came later. The meaning of his name speaks in volumes as it pertains to his career –Khalifa 
means in Arabic is to be successful and have wisdom.
There are not many rappers in Hip Hop that have had overnight success like Wiz Khalifa. He has a major following across theUnited Statesand abroad. The rapping sensation is good friends with Snoop Dog, Juicy J, Yelawolf, and Mac Miller. In addition, to hanging with high profile artists in music, Wiz Khalifa is also engaged to Amber Rose. He met the video vixen several months after she broke up with Kanye West. The two are now expecting their first child. In public, they seem to be very happy with each other and Wiz Khalifa makes sure that his business stays in his house.
Recently, on the radio show The Breakfast Club, Wiz Khalifa stated that he was proud of where he is today in life and would not change a thing about his journey. The rapper has paid his dues in the Hip Hop world quickly than most and appears to be on full-speed ahead. He has had his moments with the police in regard to his smoking habits, but other than that his track record is pretty clean.
As a rapper in a world where technology now rules, Wiz Khalifa is maximizing his opportunities on a daily basis. Wiz Khalifa was recently given an accolade by Billboard Music Awards as the Best New Artist of 2012. The artist seems very humble by his success and looks to be well on his way to becoming the Jimi Hendrix of Hip Hop.
