(ThyBlackMan.com) Perhaps there is much in the Bible open to debate, but one thing seems sure. There was an Eve, and the Garden was Africa . Science is agreed that all humanity is descended from one woman who lived in Africa about 200,000 years ago. Science also informs us that everyone of European descent comes from a group of no more than 50 Africans who left the Motherland about 40,000 years ago, and every Asian is descended from a band that left about 150,000 years ago.
All humanity is of the same species, so naturally we would have to come from a common line. Independent genetic lineages could not converge and produce offspring, as today all humans can. Nonetheless, many in the academic community had long clung desperately to the belief that humanity could have evolved separately, that is, up until 2001.
In 2001, scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) came upon an interesting find. They were working on the Human Genome Project, the attempt to map out the entire human genetic structure. After collecting samples of DNA from a wide cross-section of individuals from around the globe, they noticed that the genetic differences amongst Europeans were very minor as compared to the vast differences amongst Africans.
They discovered that all European genetic lines intersect about 1,500 generations back, and all Asian genes converge several thousand generations ago. But to find the intersection point of all African genes, one has to go back about 8,000 generations, that is, around 200,000 years. Since humans have been around for at least 5,000,000 years, that means that for more than 95% of our existence we resided solely in the Motherland.
Note that 40,000 years ago, when the less than 50 Africans left to settle Europe, the total human population was only 2,000. Also, note that West Africans are closer genetically to Scandinavians than to indigenous South Africans. This is because South Africans separated from the main human population long before the 50 that left to populate Europe.
Thanks, Freddie for the thoughtful comment. Elijah Muhammad, if I recall correctly, lectured about the “Asiatic Black man,” and how Asia was our original home. And so religion and science come to different conclusions. They are two different belief systems, often at odds with each other.
Whilst the writer directs readers to some historical arguments which seem valid, I beg to differ on biblical grounds, which are often not picked up by most bible readers. Not in any chronology, the Book of Genesis 11, talks of the first journey of man from the ‘East’ when all men spoke a single language. Where is this ‘east’ and from what reference point? The story goes on to say how men consented to build a tower that would reach the heavens. When the Lord came down, He confused their language and scattered them abroad. In my understanding, people who understood each other congregated and settled in close proximity (i.e people with similar languages settled close to each other)
Also Genesis 8, tells us that after the flood, Noah’s ark settled on Mountains of Ararat (which is in Modern day Turkey, close to Asia).
Then, Gen 1 v 8, says God planted a garden eastward in Eden, where He put men. Although, it’s not clear where are the rivers Pishon, Gihon, Hiddekel and Euphrates. However, some sources suggest that the Euphrates is around Turkey. I could go on and on with these pointers.
These biblical facts may suggest that humans were first created in Asia (where the garden of Eden) was planted. This means we all originated from Asia.
