D’evils… You Already Know

(ThyBlackMan.com) Sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed looking at the evil that is in the world.  Or rather, to be specific, looking at the evil that is reported by folks who should be overcomers of it.  While I report on the d’evils that I see in rap music along with other entities that invade our lives, I also try to list ways to counter it in active, spiritual warfare.

Yet there are some who seem to focus solely on the former – merely cataloguing the fallacies of every facet of this life.  I’ve visited websites that document how pop music revolves around satanism, there’s dark and hidden messages embedded in Avatar:  The Last Airbender and a myriad of other  ele/ailments in our culture.  I get exhausted merely reading it so I can’t imagine how draining it must be to track the connections and log minutia such as how many times the pentagram (upside-down star representing devil worship) showed up in the Emmys’ star-studded decorations.  It must be a full-time job for these people!

Yet our full-time jobs must be to advance the Kingdom of God.  We don’t have to waste time documenting the evil in the world, we already know!  We know the devil has come to steal, kill and destroy.  We know that he owns the world… hold on, though:  the latter is WRONG!  We give this fallen angel too much credit (I’ve done it myself) when we say that the world is His.  That’s the same lie he tried to pitch to Jesus during His forty-day fast in the wilderness (Matthew 4:8-9).  “All these things (of the world) will I give thee”?!!  The devil owns NONE of the world, he merely stakes claims on what we forfeit like a squatter; sowing sows weeds in the garden of the Lord to uproot what is His in ultimate yield and produce:

‘… for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof.’ – Psalm 50:12

‘…whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.’ – Job 41:11

‘The field is the world, the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; the enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.’

– Matthew 13:38-39

As such, my message today is short and simple:

1)     STOP giving the devil credit where it’s not due.  He owns nothing.

2)     STOP focusing on how deep and wide the devil’s stakes are in the world lest you become ensnared and overwhelmed by them.  Know your enemy and his presence but research, come to understand and WIELD the depth and breadth of the Lord and the power He’s given you to overcome the wiles of the enemy.

‘Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.’ – Philippians 4:8
