Ron Paul vs. Barack Obama…

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

( Make no mistake about it. This election boils down to a contest between Ron Paul and Barack Obama. None of the other Republicans is different enough, or powerful enough, to entice the country to change horses in midstream. Yes, they sound different, but would any of them end the wars or stop the upward flow of wealth to a fewer and fewer few? Ron Paul would stop the wars, and as for reversing the increasing concentration of wealth, who knows, but he would move to radically alter our financial structure. And that is why they say he doesn’t have a chance. But unless they nominate him, neither do the Republicans. . .

Herman Cain is gaining ground. But is he really anything more than Obama Light, or rather Right? Should Cain emerge the nominee, he’s likely to be seen  as a Michael Steele-like projection of the Republicans, a jumping on the bandwagon of inclusiveness to hide a real lack of inclusiveness.  What about Texas Governor Rick Perry? He’s the front runner and so he has become the target of all the others with devastating results.

Romney, the early front runner who usually turns out to be the pace horse, but who this time might win the nomination, is still just a pace horse. One can go all the way down the list. Only one candidate seems able to mount a serious challenge to this sitting president. Ron Paul. He has a massive base among the young and the very restless, many of whom don’t have a job, something they had thought was guaranteed. Which brings us to the Wall Street protests which have morphed into a broad based Movement Against the Rich (MAR).

While the media has focused almost exclusively on the minutiae of the irrelevant, long winded, foolishly deadlocked debates in Washington, the people spontaneously developed their own forum, like people all around the world are doing. The people’s forum is the place where people always first begin to organize, the street. The government is the projection of the street. The people stay out of the street as long as the government functions. When it stops, the street comes to life, as it is now. Where is it headed? Who will assume the leadership or be projected, even if only by default, into that role?

The president has thrown his hat into the ring declaring that the protesters were “giving voice to a more broad based frustration about how our financial system works.” Many Republicans have responded with charges of “class warfare.” But how likely is that to fly with the ever growing disparity between the haves and the no longer haves?

Ron Paul, though, has been cautious in his appraisal of the movement. He says he’s not sure what they are after, but they certainly have the right to practice civil disobedience. He is also quick to point out that he has long warned that current economic policies would bring about collapse, and that both parties helped shape them.

Not only does Ron Paul have a strong base with the young, he also has demonstrated great strength with “values voters,” and in a final showdown he may garner the lion’s share of Tea Party ballots. Meanwhile, Obama’s base amongst the youth is shrinking, and there is debate in the Black community about giving him unquestioning support. This may well dampen African American turnout on Election Day. However, given the policies, statements and behaviors of many Republicans, people of color, and others who feel beleaguered, are likely to remain firmly within the Democratic Party orbit.

No matter what the experts in the press would have us believe, Obama’s only serious opponent is Ron Paul. Conditions on the ground, in the economy and the society may well result in a Ron Paul vs. Barack Obama contest. However, things are likely to remain up in the air as the Movement Against the Rich (MAR) continues searching for a leader. If either Obama or Ron Paul ends up in the saddle, the road to the White House in 2012 would seem to be clear.

Kyle, you would think it is all but over. But not one single vote has been cast in one single primary or caucus. Don’t believe the hype. It is anyone’s race to win. Anyone.

  2. kyle says:

I would very much like Ron Paul to win the GOP nominee, but because the media ignores him most of the time, I have a feeling that the Republicans will nominate Cain or Romney. Which is a shame. Ron Paul is the best one for the job out of all of them, yet he gets ignored. Maybe if Ron Paul doesn’t get elected President, maybe he’ll become a cabinet member (hopefully)

  3. Arthur Lewin says:

Thanks, Brian. That is a good question. However, I believe he would have a bit of leverage. After all if the people say that is the person we want with his kind of policies, those who ignore the voice of the people would do so at their own peril. And the larger the plurality the greater the mandate he would have. But in any case there would have to be some sort of negotiation. By the way by next November I bet the tax structure will look a lot different than it does now and a many of the individuals not currently seen as culpable for the financial meltdown will be on charges if not already convicted by then.

  4. Brian says:

Good Article and interesting response Tommy O. I am all for Ron Paul but even if he should win the presidency will he be able to turn things around in the direction he is proposing or just be able to slow the current course down as congress blocks all his proposals.
I imagine if and when he gets elected he will still need the people to start putting pressure on their electives as far up the ladder as they can.

  5. Arthur Lewin says:

    Thanks, Sandy. Will do.

  6. Sandy says:

I am thankful I learned how to use the internet so I could read your great article. We have let the leaders and media control the dialogue for to long and your great article has opened up an honest discussion of the issues and problems that face ALL citizens.

We are running out of time, and the sooner people realize that they have been manipulated the sooner we can get back our freedoms and control of our own destinies.

Please continue exposing the phony left vs right, color, class and other barriers the pundits wish to use to keep us divided.

  7. Kenneth says:

Great article and great responses (especially TommyO’s damn!)

  8. Nb says:

Good, article. Boy I would love to see Ron Paul v. Barack Obama in a debate. It would be absolute devastation.

    Financial Markets
    The Economy
    Libya, Afghan war, Iraq

It would be quite embarrassing for the sitting president…

  9. Arthur Lewin says:

Thank you, Travis, and everyone who commented so favorably on the article.

I think it is a measure of the unfavorable treatment that Ron Paul is receiving in the media that an attempt at a balanced, objective analysis was perceived by many as a piece written to support him.

Thanks all for reading and calmly discussing this article.

  10. Travis says:

Thank you very much for this article!! Excellent points all around! Let me say it again… THANK YOU!!

  11. Jeremy says:

My mother, Father, sister, 2 brothers and myself already changed partys. We all voted for Obama last time. Now he wants to start a war with Iran? We can take that to the bank. We have to vote Ron Paul this time. Good article. Nice to read some real new.

  12. Ron Paul 2012 says:

    Spot on, TommyO.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

  13. jd says:

    damn tommy,
you should be writing articles too. and thanks for pointing that out. when i saw palin going to “tea party gatherings” i knew that party was over (no pun intended) many dont realize that the movement originally consisted equally of democrats. just regular folks from all walks of life fed up with the 2 party system. the GOP just co-opted the movement, unfortunately.
those in tune with the real movement like ron paul are often despised by republicans. no wars, de-criminalization of narcotics, and personal freedoms.

  14. TommyO says:

Once again the staff and viewership of demonstrates meaningful insightful thinking and decent civilities in political discourse! Thank you for the excellent article!

Crash course on the phony “two party paradigm” and “media created tea party”

The media’s ignoring, ridicule and outright smearing of Ron Paul while bolstering other candidates illustrates nicely the two great modern schemes operating in American politics facilitated by the mainstream media – those being: the phony “two party paradigm” and the creation of the phony GOP “tea party”. First, the concept of a modern “tea party” came on board with the Ron Paul supporters back in 2007 during the campaign. Actual pounds of tea were to be dropped by a hovering blimp into Boston Harbor on the historic day of the original Boston tea party against British tyranny as a gesture of defiance to the status quo (lost of civil liberties; unending illegal wars; nation building; destruction of our currency; torture and extraordinary rendition; abuse of civil liberties under the bogus Patriot Act etc.). Party affiliation, national origin, race etc. wasn’t important – all were welcomed – only a love of liberty and a willingness to fight for it and hence among those veterans the movement is rarely regarded as “tea party” but instead the “liberty” or “freedom” movement and it is definitely not GOP or PERRY or Bachmann!!

In 2008 when the “dynamic duo” – McCain and his side kick – Palin got their bloodied grinded behinds handed back to them by Obama. This is exactly what the mainstream media had orchestrated for the previous year – and the rank and file GOP voters predictably bought it – they bought media served “stooge of the day” McCain and side kick hook line and sinker! I invite you to research progressive AP reporter Liz Soldoti’s coverage of McCain 2008 and see how she systematically built him up “straight talk express” to become the GOP front runner – the MSM knowing he was hopeless and would get creamed by Obama!

Immediately after the election in an attempt to do damage control the RNC/GOP and right leaning media embraced “tea party” to co-opt the movement for the progressive neo-cons – enter the right media ala FOX and the likes of social controlling neo-con personalities such as Rush Limbaugh; Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. The left media, MSNBC etc. and their social controlling components: Keith Obermann; Chris Mathews and Rachel Maddow in an effort to maintain and reinforce the phony two party paradigm immediately hyped them “racists” and “secessionists” nut jobs stressing the “tea party” as against newly elected President Obama primarily because he was black!

Hence: the term “tea party” as currently hyped in the media is a creation of the mainstream media and simply equates to good old American progressive “neo-con”! The concept of “tea party” they propagate is a primary tool currently used to continue the “two party paradigm”. Anyone uninformed enough to buy in is being seriously played and hasn’t taken the effort to analyze the actual facts – just taking the media’s word for it like a good little boy or girl and maintain the “status quo”.
Allow me to go a little Taoist on you – the “real” tea party you hear about is not the “REAL” tea party!

Strange as it may seem, there is actually little socio-economic and political ideological difference between – lets say, MSNBC and FOX – only the illusion of one! Both the (so – called) right and left factions of American mainstream media are all globalists – wanting to maintain and expand American empire with all their corporate owners having direct BOD relationships with the giants in the military industrial complex such as: GE; Texaco; Chevron; Boeing; Lockheed Martin; Citigroup; Rockwell Automation; Chase, WorldCom, and JP Morgan; Halliburton, etc. and thereby financially benefit directly from the ongoing nation building and entrenched foreign occupations.

So the mainstream media as a whole created the current “GOP tea party” as is hyped today, to attempt to contain and control the actual legitimate non-partisan “liberty movement” (being the actual REAL “tea party” started by Ron Paul supporters in 2007) – it being a threat to the status quo and use the phony “two party paradigm” to help them do it. This is the illusion of two different parties counter balancing one another – please don’t say you can’t remember recently this spring when republican Senator McCain and democrat Senator Kerry went arm in arm bellowing for illegal war with Libya? Do you not find it is strange that Obama never changed Bush/Cheney policies regarding: torture; bailouts; WARS; Patriot Act and lost of civil liberties and abuse of American citizenry. Exactly – both parties want huge intrusive central authority – its just one side prefers to balloon the size of government with aggressive warfare and less social welfare and vice-versa. Americans are spoon fed the “two party paradigm” as a controlling device through the lame-stream media – that’s why globalist neo-cons like Bachmann and Perry are being hyped as “tea party” and that is why they are desperately trying to co-opt many of Ron Paul’s life-long political positions on things, such as: auditing the Federal Reserve.

For years have you scratched your head wondering – why are our representatives in DC doing this? Are they trying to destroy America? Unfortunately in a twisted sense – they are. For the globalist in both parties it’s not about gaining a secure and prosperous American Republic; upholding liberty maintaining the supreme law of the land – the U.S. Constitution. It is totally about maintaining an economic empire for a select group of oligarchs using the American military – our blood and treasure! It’s about redistributing American wealth and technology and building “emerging” economies in China and India etc while de-industrializing America! It’s about destroying our education system with federal control so that our young people test dismally against students in the rest of the world in science and math! It’s about defending borders overseas while leaving our southern border in the USA open allowing for abuses of American citizens. We could go on and on about the mistreatment Americans suffer at the hands of a rogue government! However, you and I both know that throughout the process of the dismantling of America, the mainstream media tells you “its okay – remember back in 2008 when they spoon-fed us “don’t worry either top tier candidate, Obama or McCain will get us on track”! Now the media is trying to force-feed us their choice AGAIN!

Yeah right! We know how that worked out!

The media is currently working overtime to convince voters that the candidates like: Romney; Cain; Perry and Bachmann are significantly different than President Obama – this is definitely pure BS! All of the 2012 candidates (in both parties) polling significant numbers nationally are deep in the pocket of international banking and the military industrial complex EXCEPT RON PAUL! This corrupt system needs an o-going puppet in the White House to keep bailing out criminals and keep this bogus war on terror going and ramped up bombing and saber rattling all awhile the media keeping the American people placated with the “two party paradigm” allowing for global elites to steal American national wealth and sovereignty! Ron Paul is the only candidate significantly different than Obama and therefore the ONLY ONE capable of beating him on issues that the majority of Americans heavily support (like ending: illegal wars; torture and illegal detention; abolishing the Patriot Act and Federal Reserve; stopping the abuses of the failing “war on drugs, IRS and TSA and getting us out of NATO and NAFTA etc.)
The “establishment” is in a real bind – the media’s “ignore” phase for the “Ron Paul problem” hasn’t worked and the “discredit” phase is now underway. These types of tactics are standard procedure in any third world banana republic to marginalize legitimate opposition to the regime and status quo. They have NO place in a free representative Republic!
So, fellow Americans if by now you haven’t acknowledged that Obama is a corporate puppet you are in serious denial or part of the subversion! If you want things to continue under the rule of the global “banksters’ and “tanksters” – maintain the status quo and allowing tyranny to grow under the phony “two party paradigm” – vote for the spoon- fed media’s “top tier”: Obama; Romney; Cain; Perry; Bachmann etc., but if you want things to truly change and have the assurance that you will have the right to be heard and not silenced then begin to restore America liberty now and support Ron Paul! He can’t be bought – and the establishment knows it! They must use every means available to attempt to marginalize him – hence the blackout, ridicule and smear! Check your states regulations for rules of primary voting and do whatever it takes (you may have to join the Republican Party) so that you can cast your primary vote for Ron Paul.

WE WON’T GET FOOLED AGAIN! Ron Paul 2012!!!

  15. Ron Paul 2012 says:

Great article, Arthur Lewin! Thank you for your support.

Any democrats that realize they were hoodwinked by Obama, and the stances that he ran on. I urge you to look in to Ron Pauls voting history, and his vision for America. He will open your eyes to the corruption that has engulfed Washington for the past 30 years (and he has been speaking out on it the whole TIME!). America will much more healthy nation with Ron Paul at the helm. Think about it, no more wars, no more illegal wiretapping of your phone (he will scrap the patriot act), he believes in everyone’s PERSONAL FREEDOM! Our parents weren’t even fortunate enough to have this choice. If we vote for anyone else (including Obama), you will keep seeing your civil liberties steadily evaporate.

Listen to what this man says, and you will be BLESSED to have him as the leader of the free world.
    Ron Paul 2012

  16. plasticonobrisco says:

Ron Paul is a true statesman, not a politician. He puts principle before politics. His voting record proves that. Our last chance to save the Republic is to elect the Champion of the Constitution in 2012. Support the cause of Liberty on October 19th by donating at Congressman Paul’s official website.

  17. Mel says:

@Ohioga; “War makes us all rich, get over it.”

You do realize because of our current involvement with the middle east China is going to own us? This war has bankrupted our country.

  18. Charlie Peters says:

Audit the fed, support HR 459 Paul.

  19. Joe Mama says:

@Ohiogal: “War makes us all rich?” Bad news for “us,” but the American people are waking up and “us” is nearing the end of their reign of power over America. It will take more than one election cycle, but the wheels have started turning. Sorry, Ohiogal. If you want to be rich, you’ll have to work hard and earn it just like the rest of us who get ahead without having to cheat and use the government to change to rules in our favor.

  20. Rosco1776 says:

The only real candidate in the race and he is being ignored. Thanks for the article, maybe people will research the candidates instead of voting for the MSM pick.

    Ron Paul 2012 or BU$T !!

  21. Mikey Paul says:

10.860 people have pledged to fight against the media blackout against Ron Paul on Oct 19th! Have you ? If you have, please ask others to do the same! We decide, not the media!

  22. marvincooley says:

I have a lot on my mind about this election and the candidates; however everybody here has already expressed my views better than I can. Obama got there because he promised change. The only thing that change is the white neoconservative left office and the black neoconservative moved in. This time we have an opportunity to get real change. Ron Paul will win it all.

  23. betty says:

Another thoughtful and intelligent piece of journalism from ThyBlackMan. This is getting to be my favorite web site! Best wishes to Mr. Lewin from an old white woman in the hills! Ron Paul 2012

  24. jd says:

white dude in south florida. i like reading your articles. thanks for your un-biased journalism.

  25. Janine says:

Wow!! Another great article on Ron Paul. Thank you, Arthur Lewin. I’m so very happy to see more and more of the ThyBlackman Staff are winning the minds and hearts for Ron Paul….

Btw, I saw a recent article over at the website in reference to this article…

GREAT JOB, Arthur!!!! God Bless You!!!

  26. Adan Rodriguez says:

Very good analysis. Far better than the pundits of the media tend to give in a months worth of blowing things out their air holes to us.

  27. Yes Man says:

Great article. I will look to you in the future for insight.

  28. King Krunknificent says:

Ron Paul in 2012!! Ive been left leaning my whole life, and a registered Democrat since I could vote.. Im changing party’s sometime this week so I can vote in my states primary.. Ron Paul will be the next President come Hell or High Water!!

  29. Jefferson says:

Ron paul is the only candidate that will solve a lot of problems that are affected simply by outdated or flawed policy… Ron Paul 2012!! Sorry Obama flip flops, and doesn’t have a good 30 year voting record… hell no record at all except for Spending and Wars.If “War” is making us “all” rich where is “all” the money hahahah????

  30. Ohiogal666 says:

Go serve in it please. Alot of people are stacking money on other peoples coffins do you want to go to war?

  31. Ohiogal says:

I am tired of Ron Paul, I have to deal with his idiotic supporters on Fox all day in the comment section, they all say the same things about the Constitution, blah, blah. War makes us all rich, get over it.

  32. AAAAANDRE says:

Don’t forget you MUST register Republican NOW to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries. Yes, you can switch back right after you vote for him. (pick up two forms 😉

  33. Patrick McCleary says:

Wonderful article right on the money! You definitely see the “Big Picture.” It will be interesting to see how the paths of Ron Paul, the Occupy Wall Street protesters and the Tea Party movement converge. A lot can happen in this country over the next 12 months (and it will likely happen) that will put Ron Paul in a much more favorable light. He predicted everything that is happening long ago. Ron Paul is the only candidate who can save this country from some very hard times. It is either him or the next few years will make the Great Depression of the 30’s seem like a mild recession. Seems like a simple choice. I pray enough Americans wake up before it is too late.

  34. James Anthony says:

Herman Cain has the charisma, no doubt about it. But Ron Paul runs circles around Cain when it comes to the issues and the experience. I believe Cain is
the darling of CNN, both hailing from Atlanta. But Ron Paul gets my vote, even though I’ve been a life long Democrat.

  35. Andy says:

I would love to see a Paul/Obama debate too.

I think it would be a lot like Reagan debating Carter in 1980.

  36. TLR says:

Love this article. I want to see Paul debate Obama now. Right now.

  37. The Republican party at the Federal level would rather have Obama remain president than have Ron Paul as president.

That’s something people consistently fail to realize. Obama will give the Republicans leadership at the Federal level more of what they want than Ron Paul will. Obama will continue the wars, keep the Patriot Act, continue warrantless wiretapping, and won’t lift a finger to stop corruption. Paul would do the opposite.

  38. DJ Ruden says:

Great article and well written. It seems like a lot of what is expressed here are things that I have also thought. Ron Paul is the only republican candidate worth the time of day, yet the mainstream media is doing everything they can to make marginalize him as someone that cannot win. Ron Paul is the ONLY ONE that can win against Obama. It seems so obvious, yet the big corporate media are blind….

  39. Jay says:

I am voting for Ron Paul out of simple pragmatism.

Except for Paul, every other GOP candidate has doubled-down on more air and land wars in Asia and Africa, they have either endorsed or failed to oppose the bail-outs, and their economic plans are simply nibbling at the edges when we need real reform. Please explain how any of that will be any different than Obama in November? Are those winning issues in 2012? Obama-lite will not win the general election.

No other candidate in the race motivates independents and young people like Paul. No other Republican can capture so large a portion of the voters abandoned by pro-war, economy destroying Obama.

America will not settle for the Tweedle Dum, Tweedle Dee rotation this election year.

  40. anonoped says:

    good article, thanks.

  41. Inez says:

This is exactly what I’ve been saying all along: The ONLY way Obama will lose reelection is if he runs against Ron Paul, and he’ll likely lose by a wide margin.
