(ThyBlackMan.com) Hear that?
That gurgling sound would be from Bishop Eddie Long’s career circling the drain as we speak. The statement is neither hype nor for the sake of hyperbole. Long closed out the decade with four sexual coercion lawsuits, stories surrounding the alleged, previous abuse of his first wife and a spot on the “50 Most Loathesome Americans of 2010“ list according to the Buffalo Beast website, checking in at #31. Just FYI, Long was sandwiched somewhere in between George W. Bush and LeBron James on the list; parse that as you will. At any rate, by the end of 2011, Long might be #1 with a bullet.
Here’s why…
2011 thus far has been the proverbial handwriting on the wall, and Long seems more akin to King Belshazzar than David who slew Goliath.
At the beginning of February, the news story broke that members of the New Birth congregation lost as much as $1 million in a failed gaming investment venture with entrepreneur Ephren Taylor. Taylor reportedly gained access and the confidence of the members through the blessing (literally) of Bishop Long.
Let’s pause there for a moment.
Churches are now trying to turn a profit in the gaming industry? What, were legalized prostitution and alcohol distribution already taken? Not only that, the congregation is upset about making a bad “wager” on gaming machines?
Talk about ironic …
Evidently, some vices are not only acceptable at New Birth, they’re even a preferred source of revenue. At least the ministry was being consistent, or something like that.
Homosexuality = bad
Gambling = good
Homosexuality = abomination
A Full House or Royal Flush = cause for celebration.
But I digress …
Days later, Bishop Long, his lawyers and church insurance representatives sat down with the four men and their counsel to begin mediation of the highly publicized charges of sexual coercion. Published reports have alleged the proceedings to have been contentious and confrontational in nature. To date, no settlement has been reached.
And in the spirit of the great Ron Popeil…
“But wait … there’s more … ”
Kicking off March, New Birth ministries announced company-wide layoffs and salary reductions, effective immediately. No word on whether Long was also forced to take a pay cut, but cynicism suggests the obvious, as in hell no. New Birth Ministries has argued that such cost-cutting measures were in response to a decrease in tithes and offerings in this sluggish economy.
Yes, and the horrendous press since September 2010, including 4 major lawsuits alleging sexual coercion were not in any way a factor? Oh … okay.
If that’s the Nebraska “beachfront property” New Birth is selling, so be it.
What can’t be argued, is that New Birth’s financial straits only become more dire if/when a settlement is reached and the total legal fees are tabulated. The inevitable increase in insurance premiums can’t be overlooked and the New Birth brand has already been irreparably damaged.
If you should happen upon Bishop Long standing on the corner of Peachtree St. in Atlanta with the obligatory “The End is Near” sign strapped both front and back, don’t laugh. From his perspective, he’s probably right.
We live in a cynical America whose inhabitants readily remember names like Ted Haggard, George Alan Rekers, and The Catholic Church.
Our society is rampant with those who aren’t ready to forget or forgive the antics of Oral Roberts and the $8 million in “fundraising” to avoid God (ahem) “calling him home.”
And mind you, that was before the internet and Wikipedia came along.
Specifically in the Black church tradition, (AME, Baptist, COGIC, Pentecostal, etc.) rarely a day goes by without some sort of sexual or financial scandal plaguing its pulpits. If Long is a “victim” in any way, it’s falling from grace too late in history. Long’s scandal comes at a time when America has already grown tired of the unrepentant, megachurch pastor, embroiled in scandal dripping with hypocrisy.
Will Eddie Long’s “ministry” continue? Sure. Don’t expect him to disappear into obscurity. At the same time, don’t expect him to ever command a level of fame or respect approaching what he once knew. He forfeited any chance at returning to the top when he opted for a private settlement instead of public vindication.
Part of a minister’s job description is to offer wise counsel, encouragement and biblical perspective during trying times of a congregation member’s life. Given the parameters of any mediation agreement, Long will be unable to provide any of the aforementioned, relative to the most important moment of his ministry and life of its congregation. There can be neither closure nor true healing without any public discussion of the allegations.
Being able to ask your spiritual leader about the mysteries of the Bible but not about the realities of the allegations can and will prove problematic for some members. Just how many remains to be seen. If you believe New Birth, the answer thus far is zero and the economy has had more of a negative effect. New Birth continues to deny the obvious and it signifies a continuing reticence to tell any semblance of the truth in these matters. Members aren’t getting the truth now and won’t get it in the future after an agreement is reached.
Bishop Long will survive this moment of infamy, albeit with a considerable price tag attached. All signs do though suggest he’s relegated himself to megachurch irrelevance … and what’s not to like about that?

I wholeheartedly agree with the writer’s point on Eddie Long’s lack of humilty. Some ppl just dont get it. There is no reason regardless of whether or not he admitted to do what he was accused of the bottom line he should have humbled himself and sit himself down in a pew somewhere. He has more than enough Pastors/Ministers who could have ministered a very good message “perhaps one on forgiveness. This would have been a great time for Eddie to apologize to the congregation for the embarrassment he brought on them. Always remember to every bit of a rumor there is some truth to it. He should have lapped his tail and go sit somewhere or even go on a sabbatical… and fast and pray and kneel before God and seek his face. Yes I forgive him because I am not God but what disgusts me is the blatant slap in God’s face. This is why we are in the mess in America…… We are to lead by example and that does mean humbling ourselve and apologizing on what all that mess cost. Embarrassment to the christian community.
I know “MC Norman” is he is the oldest deacon in the church. Its a shame that people want to get on here and say things about this man. People are trying to drag him into this and he has nothing to do with any of this. Next so many of you people are talking about Bishop Eddie Long and have come with your comments and pointing of fingers….
Most of you seem to have a problem with this church right now. My question is what is your solution to fixing the problem? People have attended a church for years and they all very confortable with this place of worship. Tell me how can somebody just walk away from a church like this.
Tell me this and I will come back looking for all of you to reply on my message. I have persoanlly visited other churches but its just not me…. The people attending the church make me feel welcomed. I have been to other churches and they mistreated me there. The people were nothing like the people in the NewBirth church. The people in this church are warm and loving there. They make me feel welcomed in their church. NewBirth people are very special people…Now on to the Bishop Eddie Long thing…I know people in my family who did nothing and they got locked up for years and did all of this time for nothing. The truth just came out they didn’t break any laws…
They got a sorry from the state..Lets face it our court systems are not perfect….I personally got into trouble and the lawyer told me to take the peal bargin and I didn’t do nothing….I was forced to listen to my lawyer. I told him I didn’t do anything but he said take the plee and go home….Most importantly please hear me…
Do not judge the people the people didn’t do anything….Your trying to punish the people of the church and they are just as loving as they can be….You see alot of you people watch NewBirth on television but never been there…The people of NewBirth are the warmest people I know..I challenge you to finding all of us a better church…(Respond I beg of you) do you have a church for all of us? Will I feel the love in your church?
What type of church are you running do you think that you can do better? NewBirth is in homeless shelters, ministering on the streets and praying for people…Tell me what are you doing? whats the name of your church? Whats your website…Leave your email address cause if your church is all of that where is it? Please reply and don’t curse me out remember you saved so you need to act like it.
Where did I say all churches? I didn’t. I didn’t say that all churches have pastors involved with sex lawsuits with male members either.
But this church does. This amalgam of churches under the New Birth banner does.
I disagree with your statement: ‘Churches are now trying to turn a profit in the gaming industry?’. That is completely untrue. Not all churches profit from gaming. Not all churches are in the wrong. There are many churches that are Christ centered.
Take a listen to a must hear podcast from lastnight’s segment of internet radio show Center Stage. The topic was Bishop Eddie Long Settles with His Accusers. After listening to all the facts as they were presented on this show you wonder are the members of New Birth Church family being brainwashed. What will it take for this congregation to realize their pastor is not ever going to allow himself to admit maybe he has homosexual tendencies…You can’t fix what you will not ACCEPT!
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/centerstage/2011/06/01/bishop-eddie-long-pays-15-million-to-accusers
Well know one can really say they were surprised, can they. But many questioned whether this was a PREACHER UNDER ATTACK OR JUST BEING EXPOSED, well I guess we finally got our answer. Last year on internet radio show Center Stage they covered this very topic, and it appears they were 100% on point. Take a listen to the show titled, “Preacher Under Attack or Just Being Exposed: The Bishop Eddie Long Scandal,” they said this day would come!

This is for the new birth members and all the other Christians. I am a believer. But I am not blind. If Eddie Long was your father, your husband, your brother, even your best friend what would you say to him? Better yet what would Christ do to him? What did Christ who operated under the new covenant say to the pharases and the leaders of the church?
Forgiveness is not without reaping. Saints and believers who hide behind politics and legal jargon need accountability. The excuse that “nobody’s perfect” and “judge not” are scapegoats for people who follow false teachers, prophets, and leaders. In the last days there will/are many false teachers. And many blind followers. Revelation speaks of many nations being deceived by new age “religion” where sin is considered not sin at all. New birth believers, do you really think the YHWH, the God whose eyes never shut sees even Eddie Long? If you are a believer, you know homosexuality is an abomination Romans 1:1-17.
Your leader has partaken in an abominable thing, which we can deduce from the actions of both parties. New Birth members say ” you don’t know the whole story.” Well, I never lived in a concentration camp either. But we all know that over 12 million Jews were annihilated by people who blindly followed a man who claimed to become a world leader. Your church may stand physically, but There is One who is coming to judge the church.
You better take a good look at who side you are fighting on. The wheat will be separated from the chaff. Instead of defending or opposing Eddie Long, Choose Christ and trust no man but God.
this spirit has a hold on the church and sad to say it evan gets at the preacher.
Hey I know this stuff go on I worked for a bishop in nc and he was the same way a good man dut have a problem and most of the church dont want to see it as and for ehat it is God help us all
I used to go to a church where the pastor was a sexual abuser, and when the allegations came out, I did not want to believe them. But I later found out they were true. Look at what happened at The Cathedral of The Holy Spirit with Earl Paulk. Many sexual allegations were made over several years. Many people couldn’t believe them, but the allegations were later found out to be true. Bishop Eddie Long is im the same camp. Four accusers came forward. Long never denied the allegations – He used clever words to defend himself. Now he’s trying to pay off the accusers behind the scenes. Wake up, Missionary folk! It is sad, but your leader is not worthy of your respect. Run to another church where the pastor is accountable to a real Board of Directors, not a figurehead group controlled by the pastor.
I was a member of New Birth but I stop going because I got sick of all of the thousands of Gay men all in my face. Not only is Bishop long gay but so is most of his leaders. This is the reason why most of the people stay there it is one big freak show! MC Norman Is the man who invited Long to the church years ago he is in charge of the elders. he is also Gay he is 76 years old this has been going on a long time! I would never talk like this about Gods people but it is the hurtful truth!
Praise Him above & praise you below brother; Ron Popeil is my idol & you are next to him! Brilliant; the BEST about our fallen brother who just can’t seem to get those 5 stones in his hands to kill the truth, Sin; get away with it? I don’t think so & there is always a price; in this case millions out of the pockets of those that “just want to stand behind their pastor”. No one will ever know the real truth, of course, unless the four can sign a movie deal. You ARE A GENIUS. Dozens of asticles, yours is the best. Period. Suck it in New Birth–forget helping the poor–you got a preacher in need. Love you man. Keep writing the real truth ius such an eloquent way–here’s to you!
brothers. This means when we see them in a fault, go to them privately to discuss it. If they receive you then you’ve won your brother, if they don’t take one or two more with you. If they don’t receive them, take it to the Church. If they still continue, we’re to treat them asa heathen and a tax-collector. (Matt 18) When was this done? A Bishop is to be blameless and the husband to one wife. Not a partaker in strong drink, etc. That’s Bible. Let not your good be evil spoken of. All of this could’ve been avoided, and SHOULD’VE been avoided. Stop letting any and everythig go in the Church. Eddie did SOMETHING!! No man, especially a man of GOD, would settle allegations such as these in mediation. If I am innocent of something, I am going to fight it to the bitter end. If the truth be told, if I’m guilty of something I’m going to fight till the bitter end to get the least amount of punishment as I can. When will we stop allowing ourselves to be duped by these liars and unrepentant people? Be like the Berean Christians. Receive the Word gladly, but take your behind home and STUDY for yourself to see if what the pastor is saying is true. Study to show YOURSELF unto God, a workman that has no need to be ashamed, because you RIGHTLY divide the Word of truth….1love
I have read all of the comments that have been posted thus far. There is a lot of conjecture happening as is to be expected. Many have stuck to the Word of God within their opinions, others have given just that, their opinions, as will I. There’s an issue here that I addressed in an article I wrote concerning this ordeal. The issue is this; WHO IS EDDIE LONG’S PASTOR? Who is he accountable to? Throughout this whole litany of events I’ve not heard one mention from him, or even the media for that matter, whom he is accountable to? You see what happens far to frequently is this; we place pastors, ministers, preachers and other leaders on pedestals. What’s even worse is the fact that these leaders ALLOW themselves to be placed there.
The laypeople in the congregation have this false sense of obsequiousness or pseudo-reverence for these pastors. We are to respect and even honor our men and women of God, but first and foremost we are to hold them accountable for their deeds. Somebody, somewhere within the “inner circle” and even the congregation of Eddie Long saw something wasn’t right but didn’t address it at all. If we don’t hold them to a higher standard WHILE we’re praying with and for them, how can we expect them to behave accordingly on their own? I’ve evn had someone tell me that they don’t question authority. I told them that they were sadly mislead and crazy.
We are to judge all things to see whether or not they are of God. STOP using 1 Timothy 5:1 out of context when it says, “rebuke not an elder.” That is specifically speaking of OLDER folk in the church. We are to urge them to get it right. The younger men we’re to handle as
The word is the first and the last in all things. Those that write on this board to defend, weary not yourself to this kind of foolishness. Be not carried away with anger toward those that sit in judgement. They already know who the true judge is. Being pulled into this type of controversy will only weaken your faculties, drag your sprit into judging those that judge. Be silent allow the storm to pass. Be steadfast and watch the amazing work of the omnipresent God.
Proverbs 24
King James Version
1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
23 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
26 Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.
27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
There are a lot of things that I could say that would tickle your ears but this what I have to say about it all. God will have the last say and the truth will be revealed.
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Gal. 6:7-8”
This says it all. There is nothing else to be said.
AMEN
I am amazed at how foolish people can be, this man is such a con man! Now he is saying that this whole thing is gainst God and Christ and has everyone around him believeing that “He” is the martyr and that he is the vistim. I cannnot believe that you are so blinded by the truth which is so obvious. Jesus told his disciples “go out into the world and preach my gospel”, he didn’t say “go out and make yourself rich in my name” and this is exactly what this man has done. God’s name has been prostituted for thousands of years by men like Eddie Long for their own benefit. It is so obvious that this man can manipulate the blind to believe his lies and feel sorry for him. The deals he has made in gambling projects, the expensive gifts he gives himself and the life he has given himself would be a red light for most people. Now he will make a deal with these 4 men for millions of dollars rather than fighht these acussations, isn’t this what he said he would do “Fight” but he knows he is guilty therefore he will pay with his congregations money. “IF” he were truly innocent wouldn’t he really fight these charges? of course he would! but he won’t because he is GUILTY! The man is a pedophile and has abused his position and should step down, but he won’t because there are still foolish and blind people to give him their hard earned money so that he can feed his lavish lifstyle, sad but true.
Harry,
Christians have the moral right to judge false teachers and their corresponding false doctrines. God’s Word states: “Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that others may take warning.” (1 Timothy 5:20)There are many other passages of Scripture that relate to judging and exposing false teachers. No Christian should stand by in a state of indolence and allow fellow believers to be deceived by false teachers. Such an act is a betrayal to Christ and His Body of Believers.
What evidence do you have that Eddie Long was called by God? In actuality, Long’s teachings do not line up with Scripture (which can be proven). He is deceiving his congregation with his perverted tithing and prosperity gospel … which is really no gospel at all … to say the least. Eddie Long is a proponent of the Word-Faith Movement which has some of their teachings rooted in the occult.
The media is not destroying Eddie Long. All false teachers will have their day.
I just wish weird Eddie was Long gone!
What is forgiveness? What is atonement? What is love?
Disciple: If anyone else were accused in this manner, no prosecution in Texas would touch an accusation of this manner without evidence. No proof no case. The problem here is the media has became judge jury and executioner. If we are going to judge and condemn this man and question where he is leading his congregation, then we are saying that he and all his congregation is going to hell. You insinuated and I am just bring the point out. Why can we not unite against the common enemy. This man nor his congregation is not our enemy. He that is without sin, cast the first stone. Where is the Church? If this is how we are going to behave, then where are we all headed?
If anyone else were accused in this manner they would have been jailed. Given his resources, bond would have been unlikely. As usual, there are so many people, that somehow think that if you work at a church (Pastors, Associates, Ushers etc.) then you are exempt from the laws of the land. At times it evens seems as though our legal system thinks the same way. Politicians, Pastors and CEO’s and the like, rarely receive punishment for their crimes. That’s why these people continue to victimize us. I will end with this and I’m in agreement with Bea in many ways. There was absolutely “NO” reason for the Bishop of any congregation to send photos of himself in that type of clothing via text message. That is foolishness, at it’s best and qualifies a further look into the accusations in the least by the congregation. He’s teaching your children and leading you. The question is simply… Where?
Victor: It is not my call to judge that man on what he doing to his congregation. It only bothers me when the media drags him into their arena and take these cheap shots at him. Judge not that ye be not judged has been taken out of context on many occasions. In this case, I do not believe that it is our call to judge this man. I believe God has called him and I believe he is following God. I take it personal because I am a God fearing Christian and the media is a tool used to destroy this man. I get no joy from watching my brother in Christ taking the beating that he is taken. I pray his strength in the Lord.
Bea. Thanks for the follow up. I appreciate you for the correction. Look, I made a mistake. Is this where you begin to pile wood up, label me a heretic and set me on fire? As far as defending the Bishop, I can not defend his actions or the actions of the accusers. What I will say is that we need to pray for both parties. No matter how you look at it, this man is still used of God.
@ Junior, after you led with “I believe the we have managed to accept opinions and editorials as truth”, you then stated as a fact that there were on 12 million African Americans in this country. Actually (factually) we compose approximately 13% which is roughly 36 million, a quick look at census data would have told you that. This explains your defense of Bishop Long, who is clearly guilty of something, if only foolishness. I use the word foolishness because it is a term used in Scriptures and I think it applies in his case. No truly anointed or appointed man of God would go to arbitration when he claims he wants to be cleared publicly. This man owes God public confession, like old schoolers used to say, you clown in public, I will discipline in public. There are no innocents in this tale. These men manipulated or not were ADULTS and now they seek to profit from sin, give me a break. God loves them all PERIOD, but for us to call sin anything but sin is taking us down a road we do not want to go. My prayer for Him and the others, is that their relationship with God is restored, this is all that God wants or cares about. I have to stop here.
“Judge not that ye be not judged” is one of the most misunderstood and overused verses in the Bible. If we read the entire passage in context, it means that we should not judge hypocritically. There are many other passages of Scripture which speak of “Judging”. God’s Word says that we should judge righteously … meaning that Christians have the right to judge using moral and doctrinal discernment. That said, if we closely examine the teachings of Eddie Long and compare them to Scripture (in proper context), we will learn that he is guilty of fleecing his flock … something that he, Creflo Dollar, T.D. Jakes, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Meyer, and many others have been doing for numerous years.
Monica: I think that is the problem with the role of the Church. I also realized that Jesus had no sin yet he was still judged in the court of public opinion and ultimately crucified. Whether we like it or not, we are supposed to embrace all walks of life and I believe that this can have a backlash toward individuals that really need help. If a weaker Christian fall because of he or she looks at someone other than Jesus then accountability falls on that weaker Christian because the Word also says Let the weak say I am strong. Bishop Eddie Long has been anointed and appointed to do a work for the Lord. We are to pray that God strengthens him and not stone him because the Bible also says in Mathew to judge not that ye be not judged. Let love abide.
After reading some of these comments–in particular those who are members of New Birth–I would have to say that although Bishop Eddie Long may/may not be guilty of sexual coercion, he IS guilty of putting himself in a situation to get himself in trouble. A true man of God who studies the Word would know that any man of the cloth (Priest, Pastor, Bishop, Deacon, etc.)would have to stand holy and upright in thought, word, and deed. Any side step that they do can cause a “weaker” Christian to fall based on perception. Remember people, perception can be the reality at times. God holds Spiritual Leaders responsible for any misleading they do to His people, so when Bishop took photos of himself in that attire last year, he was clearly in the wrong. Now, you can’t tell me that it is ok for a man of the clergy to do something like that and it be “innocent”. Think people and read the teachings Paul wrote in the New Testament. It will give you some clarification on the roles of Pastors. Peace.
I believe the we have managed to accept opinions and editorials as truth. Fact. There are less than twelve million Blacks in this country. The Catholics had scandal after scandal. Their church remains one of the strongest churches in the Christian community. Many claims were substantiated and the Catholic church moved on. Some people make allegations against a Black minister. The answer is to destroy the minister, his congregation, and everything he stood for. Catholics with proven allegations move on with their membership in tact. Black minister and his congregation destroyed by a mere allegation. Sounds like Rosewood but this time its Black on Black.
I’m also not American. Actually South African (like Kagiso Molepo) and I can see from all the way over here that the good bishop is hiding something. If the young men were making this up, it’s America so why does he not sue them for libel and damaging his reputation?
Because you attend church here does not provide you with the “absolute truth” about anything. If you are not with a person 24/7, you cannot say WHAT they engage in. That goes for anyone. I’m so sorry to sober you with that reality.
Secondly, what is even more scary is a person’s need to believe something that they cannot absolutely prove. Unfortunately, it is not humanly possible to know what someone has done if you are not their literal siamese twin – attached at birth. I’m sorry, I know that reality hurts.
So, my recommendation (as a phsychological practitioner) would be to identify why you absolutely MUST 1) take his word as gospel, 2) ignore the possibility of this actually occurring, and 3) ignore the lifelong emotional damage that the young men have and will incur if they actually have been violated.
I invite you to ponder that…if you will.
Peace and blessings.
I will reserve my comments regarding the charges of sexual molestation against Eddie Long. However, I will say this, according to God’s Word, Eddie Long is a false teacher. His tithing and prosperity gospel is a far cry from what the Bible actually teaches. It is unfortunate that members of Long’s congregation are too biased, misguided, and deceived to recognize this.
New Birth members surely drank the cool-aide, old Eddie Long is guilty as sin.
You better hide your sons quickly. He is not going to stop because the New
Birth members keep holding him up, God forbid.
~ I judge no man.
But, is there really a Scriptural phrase for New Birth?
Isn’t the Scriptural phrase “Born Again” ?
Doesn’t “Born Again” means Born a 2nd time?
And New Birth means born the 1st time?
I know it’s become popular to say New Birth.
But is it correct? Thanks.
Leave my Pastor alone! I work in the school system with middle schoool students and I had two african american males who lied on me. Listen! I don’t have money like that. These youth of today will lie on you to get money and a lawsuit. Don’t be fooled!
I am a member of newbirth and I am very proud to say Bishop Long is my Pastor. Quit hating on my pastor……enough is enough! When you talk about newbirth you are talking about me and what I stand for.
If you don’t go to the church then keep quiet and let’s focus on saving people instead of controversy in the media. Do your research people about the high profile attorney. Ask questions and think for yourself. I am a proud Black Man who has a love for GOD. Bishop is the vessel that God uses to help give a word to the people. I love you all but don’t try throw down another black leader down because you rather watch the television instead of reading facts.
Holla, I love you all!
All you can do is speculate and have opinions. You don’t know what happened
It saddend to see black people destroying their brothrs and sisters through media, you would havew expected the so called enlightened brothers to behave far better than the gangs and druglords(there they kill their own) and that’s exactly what you arw doing to the bishop though you don’t have all the facts, please tell me what are going to get from his demise ,are going to take over the his church and show true leadership, spirituality and character better than he is doing?if your answer is good but if its no then you better help him up or shut up!blacks are at destroying each other ,just us here in africa
“I am a member of New Birth and all of this is NOTHING but lies!!!!!Our church is doing very well and so is Bishop Long and his family.”
So you’re saying the statement that YOUR CHURCH put out regarding staff layoffs and the decrease in tithes and offerings is a lie?
The fact that the four cases are in mediation is a lie?
The accrual of legal fees for court cases and mediation is a lie? The lawyers are working for free?
When you can demonstrate one specific piece of information I’ve printed that is either untrue or a lie, you’ll get a retraction. You said ALL of this were lies…yet neglected to name one, any or how.
Whenever you would like to respond with facts and not fandom…Mo’Kelly is easy to find.
I am a member of New Birth and all of this is NOTHING but lies!!!!! Bishop Long will NOT have a bullett at the end of this year. Our church is doing very well and so is Bishop Long and his family. It’s so evil of this person to refer to him or herself as an editor…please…before you start passing lies…find out the truth! Our congregation is STILL growing!!! So do yourself a favor and find out the truth before you start posting lies!!!! You will have to deal with God on this one!
Folks, all I can say is if he got by God he got by me. I am sitting back and letting God be God. The Bible (for Liz who suggests reading it) plainly says “do not forsake the assembly of the righteous” and in “compton terms” that is get your behind to church. So. Does God want you in a Bible believing, sin accounting, God fearing family of God (aka church family) to help you (paraclete, walk along side you in your growth of faith)? Ya BEST BELIEVE DAT.
Peace back out at ya.
In His Grace.P.
Thanks for posting that link Kheri…

To all the pastors, teachers. bishops. God not playing with you, you must reap what you sow. How long did any of you think you could get away with anything. That applies to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ, if you’re not saved it doesn’t matter to you, but to those who believe please stop and REPENT AND TURN it may take some more years but the LIGHT IS GOING TO SHINE. “BELIEVE THAT”
