(ThyBlackMan.com) The term essay is vague, but what everyone associates with it is that there is something you write at school, either to practice or as a test. In order to give some good tips in the essay writing, one must consider what the purpose of the essay is. At school most papers can be placed in one of the following categories:

Language exercise – An essay written in English or any other language subject, where the main focus is on being able to write a linguistically good text, and perhaps also to understand literary texts (e.g. if the essay is about commenting on a Book).

Exercise in interpreting information – This type of essay is more about interpreting information about a particular topic. This can for example a test in history to comment on the consequences of a historical event. It can also be a “classical” work, with focus on collecting information, but of course you will also get several weeks to write. Under this category, scientific research may also be added, but it is not customary to write them until at a higher level.

One thing usually distinguishes essays is that they are subjective, with very own thoughts and analyzes. This, of course, does not apply if, for example, consider that a report or lab report is a kind of essay, as one should be objective.

Most essays you write are in the language subjects. Below we will provide some general tips for what to think about, as well as some more specific tips about writing a comment / interpretation to a literary text.

General tips

If you can choose which type of text to write, keep in mind the following:

It’s important to get started quickly to avoid time shortages. If there is a topic / question that you know how to start writing, it may be a good idea to choose that topic. Also, think that you should be able to “show what you are going for” in your essay. For example, seem tempting to choose to write a letter, as it is a free type of writing. It may be a good choice, but keep in mind that writing a too “primitive” type of text may make it difficult to get a deeper text.

Make an appointment before writing, so you know about what to do and when.

Everyone does not like to write a draft, but wants to write “right” directly. It’s only to do as it feels best for yourself, but it’s always good to make a deal, albeit only a few words long. It is important to get started quickly and get into the flow. Even if you do not get a perfect introduction, start typing to get you forward. You can always go back and change later.

Always be aware of what you write and think of the task even in the case you buy essay. Secondly, it is important to remember what kind of text you are writing and partly what topic to write about. Because you often have time pressure when writing essays, it is important not to overdo too many sidetracks.

Be confident when writing. Certainly, one must also be humble for the text to be credible, but if you care too much, the whole text will feel insecure and the content will be drowned in all “maybe” and “possibly“.

Remember the time even at the end. It is important that you can complete your essay and change things that you have left. For example, if you having five minutes left, it may be better to round off than bring a whole new piece, although it may mean you do not use the last two minutes. However, the chance that your new piece will be fine is not particularly great if you mix it in a few minutes.
