(ThyBlackMan.com) Rookie of the Year, 3-time NBA Championships (2012, 2013 and 2016), 3-time NBA Finals MVP, and a 4-time NBA MVP, it’s hard not to know anything about the 12-time All-Star, Lebron James.

Lebron has been making headlines since his high school days at St. Vincent-St. Mary in Akron, Ohio. It was well known that the then 6’8 240 pound forward would forgo his college years and enter the 2003 NBA draft. Coincidentally, he didn’t have to travel far to begin his NBA career, as the Cleveland Cavaliers won the number one pick in the 2003 draft. There was no denying that they wouldn’t pass up the chance of drafting the best player in the draft class, and the best player for years to come. With size and skill already on his side, there wasn’t much alteration needed in order for James to have a successful transition into the NBA.

In his first seven seasons with the Cavs, Lebron James led the team five straight playoff appearances before realizing that he could not win it all with the lack of team cohesiveness and support that was being built in Cleveland. Therefore, in the summer of 2010, King James held a live press conference announcing that he would leave Cleveland and join the Miami Heat. His said reasoning was for the opportunity to play for a winning organization that took the time out to make room for him, and the likelihood of winning for years to come.

Being an Ohio native, Lebron James decision caused a lot of heartbreak to the fans in Cleveland. From the numerous negative comments on social media and the burning of his Cavaliers jerseys, freedom of speech was definitely utilized by the people of Ohio. Surprisingly, the Cavaliers GM penned an open letter in which he called James’ move cowardly and promised the Cavalier fans a NBA title before James and the Heat. Ohio sports fans looked to James as being their only hope to winning a sports championship since 1964, and the first ever NBA championship for the Cavs organization.

In the 2010-2011 season, James teamed up with superstars, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, and became known as the Big Three. There was no question as if this team would dominant the league considering how they had three of the top ten best players in the league at the time. In each of his four seasons with the Heat, Lebron James helped the team reach the NBA Finals each year. However, they only won two NBA titles out of the four appearances. Minds are still wondering how a team of their caliber made it to the NBA Finals for four consecutive season and only win two championships.

After his fourth season, James returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers who now had a superstar in Kyrie Irving and newly acquired forward Kevin Love. Both players made James return to Cleveland a little sweeter and gave James a chance at fulfilling his promise of bringing the Cavs their first ever NBA title. That year, James and company led the Cavs to the Finals where they lost to the Golden State Warriors. The next year, they redeemed themselves and came back from a 1-3 deficit in the Finals to beat the team that beat the same Warriors team that beat them the previous year.

With the current season following the Cavs championship win underway, there is cause for great argument of if James will win another title with the Cavs. This year, the Cavs appear to be the only option to win the Eastern Conference. However, they will have their hands full with the Warriors as they signed Kevin Durant during the offseason. As of now, it’s looking like Lebron James next title will more than likely happen in the 2018 season when superstars such as Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul will all be free agents. Not to mention Lebron has stated that he’d love to play with his two best friends (Wade and Anthony) for at least a season. Keep your eyes open to see what’s next!
