(ThyBlackMan.com) The recent events of the unjustifiable police shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, the shootings and killings of the Dallas police officers though could be attributed to growing pains of a young republic, are nonetheless, reprehensible and appalling.
The shootings of Sterling and Castile isn’t an aberration but is part of an ongoing American tragedy for Black/African-Americans over the past four centuries. The advent of social media and video camera cell phones makes it possible to now draw immediate attention to a problem that has been allowed to fester throughout societal America for more than two centuries making it difficult to now gloss over and hide the truth.
The republic United States—whose motto is in God we Trust—compared to other countries is still in its infancy considered to be anywhere from 227 to 240 years old depending on the source thus extremely young in comparison to other nations and still experiencing growing pains. The first recorded colony settlement 
was in 1607, Jamestown, VA. The first enslaved Africans were brought to Jamestown, VA. In 1619. Thus it can be argued that the chronological history of America extending back to the colonial era is 409 years old. And yet during this odyssey one must ask what happened to the Godliness in God? The path from 1607 to 2016 is strewn with violence, hate, hypocrisy…smeared with blood and death.
History bears witness to the fact that a common denominator, the immoral and maleficent N-word, is associated with ALL injustices African Americans have had to endure—including killings at the hands of police officers and the evil lurking behind black on black crimes. Many in Black America don’t understand the nature of the battle they are in because they aren’t privileged to the big picture.
The N word is designed to take away viewing a person as a person, making it easier to kill anyone who is a Black/African-American. Black on black crime the victim isn’t looked at by their given names as say Bill, Jerome, Gregory, etc. but instead as a n**ga. i.e. “I will kill you n**ga” “I’m going to kill you n**ga.” Same with police brutality the victims are always looked upon as the N-word not as a person. Clearly to any reasonable, logical and rational thinking person—a term of endearment the N-word is not—its renowned 300 plus years history leaves a bloody trail of carnage, terror and death.
From the very beginning the uninterrupted policies against Black America have been divide and conquer, destroy the mind, but try and keep the body, however, in this 21st century there seems to be no further need for the body.
Police brutality and shootings are reflective of a deeper abyss…the American Institutionalized Systemic. This evident truth remains intact and lives on through the American political and judicial systems. Essentially, law enforcement officers are beholden to politicians, and politicians are beholden to their white constituents. Because the “law” has been written in such a way that allows for heinous acts of racial terrorism to be carried out against African-Americans in the name of self-defense, police may be tried in the court of law, but their behaviors will be found acceptable. Police are carrying out a 240 year old tradition to exterminate African-Americans, knowing that they will not be convicted. Thus when it comes to law enforcement and the black community, police conduct themselves in a manner acceptable by those whom they are obligated or swear allegiance to. The African-American’s life is disregarded and discarded because the Black man in America continues to be viewed as sub-human a n**ger by a racial animus systemic. African Americans who agree that they are the perverse n-word a n**ga are sending wrong signals to the systemic affecting the entire race in the process.
Young men of color have a disproportionate number of encounters with law enforcement, indicating that racial profiling continues to be a problem. A report by the Department of Justice found that Blacks and Hispanics were approximately three times more likely to be searched during a traffic stop than white motorists. African Americans were twice as likely to be arrested and almost four times as likely to experience the use of force during encounters with the police.
Bureau of Justice Statistics further dictate that one in every 15 Black/African-American men are currently incarcerated, and that, at a minimum, one in every three black men can expect to go to prison at some point in their lifetime. As for other races, only one in every 106 white males are incarcerated, and one in every 36 for Hispanic males are locked up.
In accepting this reality, one must realize that it is the black man’s responsibility to awaken, protect, uplift and serve its collective self in a manner honoring their race; to sit around and wait for someone else to do it is foolhardy. Since the absolution of slavery, Black America has consistently begged, moaned and groaned, and sought its salvation through governmental subsidies via the Democratic or Republican political parties. Rather than electing to stand as a united force, self-correct, and self-uplift, Black America refuses to take control of its OWN fate and destiny and looks to someone else to take the reins in boosting the community’s much-needed and more-than-possible rejuvenation consequently will eternally be moaning and groaning.
The 1863 Emancipation Proclamation set the subjugated free physically but…NOT mentally! Leaving them incarcerated with an inferiority complex, to accept disrespect and contempt and revel in it which is how use of the n-word became transgenerational. For mental emancipation to occur African-Americans must work out their own salvation and break the shackles of mental enslavement to the nefarious N-word. The worst form of enslavement is mental enslavement however, historians have conveniently eradicated from history the [mental abuses] that enslaved Africans were subjected to. This has worked to the advantage of the oppressor, after-all it’s virtually impossible to overcome something you haven’t any awareness or knowledge of.
If Black America is to overthrow oppression and gain its rightful equality and just treatment, the race must realize that waiting on political parties and/or a certain representative to cure the community’s ailments is not the key.
Non-thinking African-Americans have been recruited by oppressors on the Right to assist and help maintain its dominance over Black America, continue to push the 240-year-old plight of turning black people against one another. Sadly, these African-Americans are too blind to see it. Such recruitment efforts dwindle the African-American community’s manpower in this war for real progress and leave the community more distracted, separated, broken, and confused than ever before. So, if Black America thought Black elected or appointed officials by white controlled political parties were the cure—please think again.
This brings us to the present POTUS, Obama. Black America hasn’t pressed as hard as perhaps it should have on the pursuit of common goals for the collective black community. African-Americans have been circumspect and cautious with Obama being very much aware of the vicious obstruction attacks by the Republicans. Aware of the juvenile name callings, the death threats, people breaking into the White House, climbing the fence, armed people allowed on same elevator with president, experiences that white presidents never had to deal with. Such attacks on Obama in retrospect were hostilities directed at all African Americans and thus not wanting to be willing participants in the Republicans ad hominem offense against Obama in affect neutralized the black community’s pursuit towards positive change.
As a result Black America may be in for a rude awakening once Obama leaves office. Instead of experiencing progress with future POTUS there may be retrogress. A precedence has now been established…by a black president…that it’s okay to ignore the demands of the black community. By having made no demands on Obama is going to make it difficult in the future for Black America to have the ear of any other president, regardless of what campaign promises are made.
It’s a monumental mistake for Black/African Americans to continually place their fate and destiny into the hands of political parties (Democrats and Republicans) as opposed to circling the wagons and taking control of their own fate and destiny which is only possible via unification. Anything less, both political parties are going to continue to use African-Americans to their own benefit. Some would argue that African-Americans need to demand economic reciprocity for their support, and that it should be verbalized consistently and resolutely communicated as absolute expectation. Such rationale is paramount to trying to mix water and oil together—it just doesn’t work. Nowhere down through the millenniums has anyone ever gotten their freedom by appealing to the moral sense of the people who were oppressing them. Behind closed doors insofar as African Americans are concerned, the two party system becomes a single party system with its ideology towards Black America being one and the same.
Whites in America today control almost 100% of the income, wealth, power, resources, privileges and all levels of government, making it virtually impossible to compete. To be able to compete it must first be understood that the unfolding of America has never been about skin color in so much as it has been about and still is about mind control.
In its proper context White is not a color, White is an attitude, power, possession of a mass fortune along with a superiority attitude towards those less fortunate regardless as to whether or not their skin color is looked upon as black or white. Based on this premise not all white looking people can be viewed as white.
Contrarily, Black is a situation, a circumstance, a condition. To understand all that is going on in the present, African-Americans must have an encompassing knowledge of the past. If you’re not aware or understand what went on [behind] you then you most certainly aren’t going to understand what’s in front of you—thus helpless to affect change.
For Black America to take its rightful place in the paradigm of an ongoing odyssey of America’s continual growth everyone must learn to take sides. There are “prominent” black people who have given up their freedom for security which doesn’t work in the best interest of Black America collectively. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Indifference is the epitome of evil.
Black/African-Americans have to learn that though we may not be able to command things, we can command ourselves; that though we may not be able to coerce the wills of others, we can mold and master our own will, but in order to able to do so we must first take back control of our own minds.
