(ThyBlackMan.com) As fan anticipation reached a peak ahead of the release of Adele’s latest album, 25, the artist remained mum about what the album might contain, preferring instead to release a thirty-second teaser on a commercial break on British reality show, The X Factor. The little clip featured only the bars of one song from the album but that alone was enough to fuel a mad frenzy over the song and the yet unreleased album.

After the release of Hello, other contemporary artists begun to make their own cover versions, further marketing the singer. So what makes Adele so recognizable and influential as an artist?

She’s very authenticAdele-25-Soulful-UKSinger

In an age where new artists are recording overly-synthesized music with Auto-Tune and other add-ons, Adele presents a more natural and back-to-basics type of voice and style, and many music fans find it refreshing. As a person and brand, Adele presents a striking contrast image to the current artificial and overproduced singers we have in the market. She told the New York Times recently, “I know I’ve written a good song when it moves me.”

No one croons like her

One of her earlier inspirations is Etta James, and that might explain why her sound is from an earlier time. Adele actually sounds older when she sings and since most female singers her age all sound like Katy Perry, it makes her stand out.

She can emote

Whether it’s heartfelt or not, when Adele shows emotion it resonates with people, and no one else has quite managed to pack so much emotion in voice and presentation. It helps that her music is inspired by real-life events. Her album 21, which included a number of mushy tracks, chronicled events in her relationship.

She packs a primal tone

It’s hard to explain but producers and music coaches appreciate that particular blend of vibration that makes a voice stand out, and when combined with a sincere, expressive, and sometimes sensitive personality, it makes for a unique sound. Adele may not have a wide range but her powerful voice is distinct and it affects the listener.
