Married Pastor – Passing along HIV!!

(ThyBlackMan.com) Pastor Craig Lamar Davis looks like any other healthy, happy, heterosexual pastor with good family values.  He was once a preacher at the Full Gospel Baptist Church in Atlanta and a pillar of leadership in the community.  Also, like a lot of men at the front of the church, the pastor had a thing for the ladies.

Another thing you might want to know about Davis, according to authorities, is that the pastor is HIV positive.  He also didn’t seem to care who else became HIV positive after he slept with them.

The pastor was arrested for reckless conduct after police found that he was sleeping with several women with whom he was not married.  A woman by the name of Ronita McAfee says that she met the pastor on Facebook and began sleeping with him.

Ronita says that she became concerned when one of the pastor’s ex-girlfriends called her to say that she had HIV.  She claims that the pastor then counseled her (presumably leaning on the word of the good “lawud”) and told her to get tested.   Davis then says that she noticed that the pastor himself was not interested in getting tested, even though she had also contracted HIV.  This is  what prompted her to seek out a warrant for his arrest.

Ronita is, by our best guess, the first person to file for the arrest of someone who was found to maliciously spread HIV in Clayton, County, GA.  When the investigation began, another woman in the church leadership stepped forward with her confession about interacting with Davis.  The woman even claimed that she’d been celibate for 15 years before meeting him.

Ladies, please take a good look at this man, because the fact is that you probably know him.  He’s the nice, smooth, good-looking man that makes you want to get naked on the third or fourth date.  You trust him because you’ve been raised to believe that a man of God would never hurt you.  In fact, he might be the man that your church has had you waiting for because he too is grounded in the belief system that you’ve deemed to be a requirement for any man with whom you choose to share your body.  He knows how to get into your head, because he knows that one defining characteristic of nearly every black woman in America is her deep and unshakable commitment to the church.

As a man who’s written extensively about other sad creatures like Bishop Eddie Long (who also hails from Atlanta, aka the bible-thumping Sodom and Gomorrah), I find Pastor Davis’ case remarkable for several reasons:

First, the courage of these women to step out and publicly reveal the pastor’s deception has saved lives.  I wish there were a day where every 30 and 40-something year old black woman who has caught HIV, Herpes, Syphilis or some other disease would speak out about what happened to them, so that younger women don’t end up falling into the same trap.   Countless women have died from catching something that their man brought home to them after fulfilling his “interpersonal needs” someplace else. Unfortunately, the relentless shame thrust upon “the good Christian girl” with a venereal disease keeps many of these stories from ever being told.

Secondly, the pastor’s denial of his condition and unwillingness to go to the doctor is quite common.  Many women are accustomed to getting regular STD screenings as part of their annual checkup.  Men are not raised in the same way.  There are men I know who sleep with literally dozens of women every single year and haven’t been to the doctor since MC Hammer had a hit record.  Even worse, many women don’t ask and certainly don’t confirm the man’s HIV status as much as they check the size of his bank account or the magnitude of his “swag” factor.  The fact is that if you think he’s got swag, then a lot of other women do too.

Men like Pastor Davis are allowed to prey on unsuspecting women for at least three reasons:

1) Many women value style over substance – if you look good, then you must be good.  Mind you, men make the same mistake, since they falsely believe that when a pretty girl offers you sex, you’re supposed to take it.

2) Many women falsely believe that men who go to church are better than men who don’t.  Bishop Eddie Long should help you to know better than that.  Unfortunately, people consider each case of a pastor doing dirt to be an exception to the rule, without realizing that there are men like Davis all over the country.  Davis is not the man you need to fear;  actually, you need to fear all the Craig Davises that you still don’t know about.

3) Many women don’t ask questions and will gladly sleep with a handsome playboy without checking and confirming his STD status.  If he doesn’t mention the other women he slept with before he came to her house, it’s as if those women don’t even exist. Even worse is that the fixation on HIV leads us to forget about how many women have had their wombs corrupted from  all the other STDs that you can get besides HIV.  Many people will brag about having a negative HIV test, but won’t get a full STD screening from the doctor – a researcher in Philadelphia told me that he randomly tested 20 men in an inner city barbershop and found that over half of them had Chlamydia.

What’s the result of the aforementioned factors all coming together, conjoined with intense denial in the black church and a commercialized hip-hop culture where both men and women glorify female degradation and irresponsible hyper-sexuality?  An HIV explosion like you would not believe.  So, every time you hear about folks going from one relationship to the next or the man with five babies with four different women, just remember that, while all this is happening, viruses, germs and bacteria are being shared with every romantic interaction.  Even worse, because the men aren’t getting their reality checks from the doctor, it’s all “out of sight, out of mind.”

Take a note from the lessons of these women and realize that another Pastor Davis likely lives in your own community.  But also note that the Pastor Davis-types of the world are allowed to do their dirty work because all of us continue to empower and excuse the devilish snakes in the pulpit.  A person can do all the evil he wants in the world, and as long as he asks for God’s forgiveness in public (providing no further confirmation that his behavior has changed), we invite him right back into the church and pretend like it never happened.  Just go ask R. Kelly.

OMG! I just recently commented on how female members of the congregation would sleep w/ a pastor. They’ll also sleep w/ the deacon and members of the choir. Married church folks have been having affairs since forever. What I’ve noticed about pastors is that when the majority of them were younger they usta be drug dealers, pimps, or maybe even ran a speak-easy(yeah I’m goin’ way back in the day y’all!). They displayed years of devil’s play back then. Church-folks sin just as much, if not more, than ppl who don’t attend churh. The female–single, married, divorced, widowed, old, young–don’t wear those tight and skimpy clothes for nothing. No indeed, honey, they are looking for some knockin’ boots action. Devilish thoughts inside God’s house: winking eyes at each other, swapping phone numbers, shaking hands and hugging each other while their husband/wife is standing right there. If a grown woman doesn’t consider it disrespectful to sleep w/ a married pastor then she’s a ho. Those women sinned in that church just as they would have in a bar or on a street corner. There’s no difference at all.

These pastor’s are livin’ it up like it’s Friday night every night. Their days, nights, and years of sinning never really leaves them. Covering up any kind of corruption works best in the house of worship and they receive much protection. Congregations will guard the secrets of the church. Whether they feel obligated or not, they know right from wrong.

Everyone or just about everyone knew that devil pastor was a liar and cheater. If one woman called the other, sooner or later, there would be several other women calling her. Then all of these women would be talking on the telephone talking about this pastor they are all sleeping with. Actually, they’ll become friends. Imagine that.

I truly hope and pray this pastor gets life or years on top of years on top of some more years. He totally deserves it. Quite sure he’ll get his share of sex.

  2. Darrell says:

This is so sad not only for the two who thought they were getting away with something. How many others that are out their & too scared to come forth! How many people have those women slept with? This is why, You should not sleep around… You can trick and slick us with your disrespectiful ways but you can’t hide from the eyes of GOD! To the Pastor who don’t have respect for himself or his poor wife! She need to go and get checked out, I know he knew he had HIV…. God will take care of you for leading his people astray!

  3. hassan_aziz says:

“dont set your sights upon man, for he will surely let you down”

  4. Tammiel says:

This is beyond words um there really is no way to define this particular situation. It is extremely sad and sick. We are no doubt living in the last days. Yes both parties are responsible especially that “man” and it is not a race thing we are all of the human race! And evertime I hear of these types of things it just helps me to stick close to Jehovah God & Jesus Christ. God bless these women along with the guy. We may feel like we’re hiding in the dark but Jah sees all things!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Gloria says:

That is degrace to god peoples , his family and wife.he have to answer to god not the people before he leave this earth,

  6. C Lawton says:

Did this guy know he was HIV positive or just didn’t care?

  7. G says:

    Very sad…very sad only!!!!

  8. starr says:

PREACH!!!!!!! loved this article!!! regardless of the women maybe knowing that he was married, he needed to inform them about his status. i don’t know how can he live with himself knowing that he has marked people for death. HIV/AIDS has come a long way but there still is no cure and for those who can’t afford the meds- they have it the worse. This guy is disgusting and thank you for putting up his picture. I don’t live in Atlanta but I wish they did more things like this in Miami where there is the most people with that disease.

  9. It does not matter whether you’re a preacher or not. Sin is sin. If the blame should be pointed at anybody, it should be pointed at both of them. These women would NOT have contracted HIV had they not slept with this man. They knew he was a married man just like he knew and yet they didnt care. Something should have ‘clicked’ in those women’s head first of all knowing that he was a preacher. They knew it was wrong from the beginning but yet chose to do wrong. People like that pastor who dont go and get himself tested have a mind to take out as many people as possible because they know it is a ‘deadly’ weapon. Bottom line is, DONT DO IT! Have respect for yourself.

  10. SMH says:

Once again you have a group of people making this a black issue when in reality the number of people that do not get tested can be seen across every ethnic group. But, I will not go there or degrade other racial groups in resopnse to these comments. Instead, I will just say that people are responsible for their own actions. If that choice is the wrong one, then the only person you can blame is yourself.

  11. There is Blame to be shared amongst all of them says:

As sad as this story is, there is blame to be shared amongst them all. Anyone that would willingly sleep with a man that they know to be married should not be shocked. Obviously, any person willing to step out on a marriage once will most likely doing it again. These are the consequences for engaging in such acts. I really can’t be upset and blame church people because this happens all the time whether in the church or not. I have said this numerous times, you cannot expect others to be responsible on your behalf regardless of gender. You must always look out for your own health and safety. Why would you sleep with someone you barely know without protection of some sort??? This should be a learning lesson to everyone, male or female. You have to be responsible and think about the choices you make. Regardless of him being charged, they too are responsible for their choice to sleep with that man without any form of protection. I really don’t know if they tried to get pregnant…that’s the only reason I would assume that any female would willingly sleep with someone without protection. You should never take someones word at face value; and if you do, then be willing to suffer the consequences.

  12. As an agnostic (raised Christian), and given the lack or morality and my past dealing with “church folk,” I would rather take my chances in a relationship with a “worldly” person than a soc-called “Christian” any day of the week!

  13. Doris says:

As Debbie said shame on the women because they know he is married. Not only that he is a pastor so what he is teaching these women and what have these women learn from what the Word of God says. I know this is the world where we think “just do it” but,(better understand this) in just doing it what is the price we have to pay? This is 2012 and God Word says adultery is a sin and there is consequences for sin. We can ask God’s forgiveness but why should we if we know from the start what we do is sin. Sure we sin everyday and believe me I do also but some things once we know that we know we should think of the cost. The Bible says a man who findeth a wife (1) findeth a good thing, hello, he already found a wife. We have become a world that allows whatever to be alright even when we know right from one and what have we seen happening from our disobedience toward God? We must continue to pray and ask God to help us because we truly do need His help.

  14. Truly my heart goes out to all of the girls and woman who has fallen or will fall into such traps, I wish there was something that I could do to cure them. The bottom line though is to protect yourself from these wolves in sheeps clothing. Do not give your body to any man until he has been thoroughly checked out physically, mentally and spiritually and married to you, unfortunately these women and girls give in to there own lust and the result is the price that they pay. Women and girls out there, please take my advice, if a man is not willing to prove to you that he is clean and that you and only you is his Queen, PLEASE!!!!!LEAVE HIM ALONE. God bless you all.

  15. the soul man says:

Just like that Rev. Herman Cain & Abel love offering, when are you church folks gonna learn? You all are going to be your own status with the CDC

  16. angelo sherman says:

Someone mentioned “Condom” use age. What about your conscious? You can’t smooth over sin with rubber or plastic. That’s like shooting someone and saying I made sure they didn’t step in the dog poop on my grass, before I whacked em. If you are a follower of the one whom calls himself the Son of God..Christ then that’s whom you should imitate. If you do not follow him ..then you follow something else. These would not be a topic of discussion if it were not for the HIV infections. Just to show you how prevalent this is..surely we must be living in the time ,in which the scrolls of the bible calls , ” The last days”….

  17. J Realist says:

This Pastor will and should be held accountable for his actions; however, WOMEN, STOPING HAVING SEX UNTIL YOU ARE MARRIED!!!!!!! Before you decide to marry a man, YOU BOTH GET TESTED!!!!

    PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Jessica Holter is mad and disgusted right now over a MARRIED PASTOR SPREADING HIV? “I’m not even going to comment on the moral issues. This is a matter of public health and safety. Ya’ll are really about to make me retire The Punany Poets. Soft core public service is obviously not working to educate Black Women on the subject of AIDS, since it is fast becoming the #1 killer of Black Women. So, I’m going to engage a more graphic approach… The next time you are about to let a man (especially one who is not your husband) stick his naked penis inside of your naked vagina, picture yourself walking into the men’s bathroom at a nightclub and licking the toilet seat… no, I have a better one… There’s some nut left on a bus seat… Disgusting enough for you. GOOD. I don’t give a fuck if you get mad at me right now. Stop faking like you are a Christian and start living in the truth. Black people have the audacity to be prejudice against homosexuals while black pussy is imploding with sin and disease? Never mind, it’s too early in the morning for me to be this upset. I’m going back to bed. https://thyblackman.com/2012/08/28/married-pastor-passing-along-hiv/

  19. Ian says:

Every one has skeletons in their closets. Theirs just came out. God or no God.

  20. Pastor Kayte says:

My biggest problem with this whole thing is where is God in the mind of the people who attend this church. Now don’t get me wrong I am not blaming the whole congregation, but those who say they new this guy was a womanizer and did not tell his wife is just wrong. Also how many times has his wife been a part of his church, how many things has she done things with those women in the church, and these women still slept with her husband. The next thing is how do you allow a man that is knowingly having many sexual relationships with women outside of his wife lead the church whether he is the main pastor of not he was a leader. These things bother me a lot, maybe it is just me, but the question is where is God in these peoples minds.

  21. Elizabeth says:

The first problem is that these are a bunch or professing Christians who are engaging in sex outside of marriage; aka fornication. Simply obeying God’s Word would have prevented all of this.

  22. Sheena says:

    Ladies and Gents,
Pastors are not to be put on pedestals, they are mere men that have been called by God to complete a task in the ministry. We must understand that while we don’t expect them to sin they will because they are human, and they will sin in some way or another. In all cases all parties are to be held responsible for their behavior…Bottom line…Life is based on the choices and decisions that you make they can be either positive or negative but the choice is yours…you choose. I feel bad for the wife and children.

  23. Dana says:

it does not matter who did what the point is two wrongs don’t make it right no a woman should not sleep with a married man and a married man should not put himsef in the position of sleeping with other women knowing he is married and he is supppose to be a man of God, who can you trust now a days and knowing he wa possitive he commited the ultimate sin thou shall not kill.

  24. Pastor Levi Deer II says:

Please read 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 evil is attracted to evil, good is attracted to good. The wages of sin is death. There is no HIV in the kingdom of god, when this married man offered these women something that was not from god they should have said no thank you, the devil is a lie. God doesn’t come in the form of adultery, fornication, or deception, thats the devil. Jesus said if you love me than you will obey me, faith without works is dead. The holy spirit doesnt get aids or give it, thats the devil and thats what he was and they loved the devil more than jesus…im not trying to hurt any women feeling but its the truth

  25. Brandy says:

All I want to know is these various women didn’t know that he was married? Why would anyone sleep with another woman’s husband to begin with? That should have indicated right there what type of person he was…SMH I am fully aware that they could have contacted this from a single man, but in this instance, they were wrong for sleeping with a married man. And what type of pastor goes around sleeping with various women, whether he is married or not? WTHollywoodShuffle is going on in today’s world….

  26. JustMe says:

Who is to blame in reality? This so called preacher or the women who gave into lust?

  27. Larry says:

CONDOMS are cheap and easily available. These women’s lives have been ruined because they did not have one in their purse. The pastor is a predator and will be in jail for a long time. That does not solve the problem. The problem is women trusting anybody who waves a bible around and not protecting themselves. Please remember this, if you are not married to them you MUST use a condom because you are sleeping with every partner he had for the last 10 years. STD education is out there. Time to teach it in church.

  28. Dionne Jones says:

God..please forgive them as they do not know what they do. Have mercy and grace upon their soul. Amen.

  29. EXPOSURE says:

TRUTH ….THE CHURCH IS RHEMA CHRISTIAN CENTER ON MCAFEE RD IN DECATUR, GA. THE PASTOR IS BISHOP STEPHEN B. HALL the State Bishop of Ga. of the full gospel international church, Craig Davis IS NOT A PASTOR, HE was army bearer to Bis. Stephen B. Hall. Yes, he married “Jan” who is Executive to Bishop Paul Morton. Now less focus. Co Pastor Vanessa Hall Sister “Ta” had a sexual encounter with Davis. Understand that Vanessa Hall is a trip in and of herself. Further Bishop Hall has openly welcome the open sins of homosexuality practices – his son, vanessa nephew, the church head intercessor and well adulterers at their best. So with truth being said. Let us allow God to have his full recourse of action.

  30. Amonymous says:

NO CRUCIFYING OF THE FLESH= NO SELF CONTROL=REPROBATE MIND=SIN
    /LUST=SEXUAL IMMORALITY/ADULTERY=WHOREMONGER=JUDGEMENT…

  31. candy says:

This is just another sad situation that will continue to plague our society. Most people think that because someone goes to church they are a good person, but the Devil himself goes to church. Whats important is your relationship with God, and thats what seperates good from bad… I am sadden because when unsaves continues to hear stories like this it will cause them to reject Gods word and live a committed like to him… My encouragement to my fellow true worshippers, PUT NOT YOUR TRUST AND CONFIDENCE IN MAN FOR THEY WILL FAIL YOU.. and just look unto Jesus the author and finisher of your faith…. just a shame

  32. Faith says:

The article stated that he knew how to get to women in the church because they didnt think a man of god would hurt them.. Hmmmm? He was married that is the first thing so right there they should have known he was no good.. Plus a so called Man of god trying to get a women to sleep with him sign of NO Good #2

  33. DaTruth says:

Just another example of how the black church is so messed up.

  34. Tawanda says:

GREAT MORNINGEVERYONE!!!!! It is my pleasure to provide the information that will change the lives of many known and unknown. The cure for AIDS and HERPES has finally surfaces to the public market. Ask yourself why haven’t my doctor provided me/us with such information as serious as such? Part reason being because these patients keep their wallets full by constantly coming back for visits and meds. Along with so many other reasons, If you have a loved one, friends colleagues, or just someone random, this would be such a blessing to them. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t take my word for it, research and read about it yourselves Google uspatent5676977 or contact Chris @ 678.696.0633, THIS IS NOT A SCAM!!! Read for yourselves. Please help to save the ones you love. I wouldn’t go this far as providing this information if there were no truth behind it.

  35. We don’t have to worry about anyone outside our community doing harm to us. We are doing a great job destroying ourselves with immoral behavior and the negative mental effects of slavery. The Klan has changed their robes for suits and ties. Their marketers of garbage and we’re eating it up. We’ve totally lost our identity as a people and as human beings. This is not progress. Things aren’t getting better, there getting worse, especially in our community. We’ve become more selfish and so called independent in our thinking. We’re going backwards in my opinion.

We used to think as a community, remember it takes a village to raise a child? Now we think whatever the latest fad is, based on what people outside our community thinks. I’m not a religious person, but I’ve learned over the years to have values, morals, and respect for my people and my fellow man. What’s the solution to this madness? We need to separate ourselves from the hypocrites and start practicing what we preach, reprogram ourselves so we know the garbage people and don’t fall for their mess, hold ourselves accountable for our actions, come together as a people, and teach our children to do the same. That’s a start.

Black Unity means financial independence and happiness

  36. justin says:

can anyone trust….HUM<HUM…. and why do the people of God do the things they do. i am with Derek the womaen are to blame also. everyone claims that you can't fine a good man, if you stop lookin then maybe just maybe he will fine you. and for this pastor only GOD will judge him. i am a Church goer and i only want what the word is.i am not looking in the Church for nothing but the word. if you really look the Church is just like the club people want to see who you are with and what you are wearing. on one look at family anymore and believe in it. it is just to much back bitting and finger pointing everywhere……these women that has taken of a man that already belong to a woman got just what they were looking for.

  37. Derrick says:

Often when reading stories like these, it just seems one sided, the evil man tricked these innocent God Fearing women into doing something not so innocent and are totally free from any and all blame. One of the biggest problems in the black community is that nobody wants to take accountability for their actions. These women slept with this man knowing he was MARRIED and knowing he was a PASTOR and they did it UNPROTECTED!!! In the black church often these women treat their pastors like Hip Hop Artist or Rockstars and Just like the women that scout out in areas to get close to these Rockstars they despite being on church every single sunday, hooting and hollering, Screaming Yes Pastor, Preach Pastor, will scout out and make their selves a groupie and do the ungodly to get close to the so called man of God. I’m not at all freeing these pulpit pimps, liars, cheaters, wolves, and far from Godly men from blame, but these women only became victims because of their own currupted decisions and have their selves to blame for their role in their current situations.

  38. Anonymous says:

Debbie, while the women were at fault, he does deserve MOST of the blame. He’s the one who stood before god and man and made vows to his wife. It is HIS responsibility to respect those vows. No one else is obligated to respect the vows that two people made to each other. Those women probably didn’t know his wife and probably couldn’t care any less about her. Why should they respect his marriage if he doesn’t? And I’m not excusing people who go out there looking to steal married folk. I’m just saying when I leave the house every morning I don’t go out with the expectation that every woman should notice my wedding band and therefore not tempt me. The onus is on me not to yield to such temptation. My wife and I have a bond and WE will hold it sacred regardless of what others do to try and break it.

And let’s not forget that he was the one out there actively pursuing other women. They didn’t scheme and trap him during a moment of weakness. He was playing the field as if he was still single.

I want to hear about solutions for this problem. When our Black physicians, nurses… are going to step in, to provide free sessions to educate our people? There are too much ignorance in our community. The other day, I spoke to a grandmother who had no clue about what is a vasectomy. My jaw dropped!!!!

Married or not—pastor or not—Christian or not, this was WRONG! Look at how many lives were destroyed because of this Brotha…

  44. Steph says:

These stories are scarry but at the same time, everybody have to be careful, they have to protect themselves and make the HIV test.

  45. Michele says:

Craig Davis is not a pastor, he is an ordain minister that found his way to the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship. He was a servant in a ministry as a armor-bearer for Bishop Hall. This fiasco should not be associated with the Fellowship or any churches, this is all of Craig’s MESS.

It is very unfortunate that so many bad decisions were made by Craig, Ronita and may others that may be affected by the careless and unthoughtful act of the flesh. Most of us have made many decisions that if it was not for grace and mercy we too could be a Craig or Ronita.

My disappointment for Ronita and advice to all, “Everyone is HIV something, positive or negative. Don’t ASSume, KNOW!!!!”

I am disappointed in Craig who I happen to know him. Yes, he is a womanizer, but he feeds the hungry and clothes the naked. I am just so surprise that he is showing no love for life through his actions and then very disrespectful about it. To knowingly have HIV, have unprotected sex and not disclose your status is HEINOUS, a grievous offense against morality.

    Selah!

  46. edud02 says:

As I often state, it is not an equal world we live in when it comes to sex and racism. Women can no longer rely on the “equal responsibility” argument, if they ever could, when it comes to sex and children. The social structure that allows men to have a wife and sleep with other women(sometines men too)is nothing new and have been part of society for centuries. Because the social structure has NOT changed, it is imparative that women take responsibility for their health AND the possibility of children EVERYTIME they decide to have sex. While the social structure has not changed for men in thousands of years, it has for women(For the benefit of men). Women are allowed(men say it’s o.k.)to have as much sex as men yet, afterward, are often cast aside and referred to negatively, including degrading name calling by the SAME men they just got out of bed with. This madness needs to stop if we are to guide our children, especailly our daughters, into a better future.

  47. Debbie says:

First off it is disgusting that this man is a man of GOD. To say this……why is it all his fault? These woman were sleeping with a married man, and…..a pastor. Is there anything I left out??? I’m just saying.
