Madam is defined as: the woman in charge of a house of prostitution.

Pimp is defined as: a person, who solicits customers for aprostitute or a brothel, usually in return for a share of the earnings; pander; procurer.

Please allow me to introduce two FEMALE Pimps/Madams on the scene; Mona Scott-Young (executive producer of Love and Hip Hop) and Shaunie Oneal (executive producer of Basketball Wives). They are two  MINOR pimps, in a MAJOR game, but are still pimps nonetheless.

I recently read an article where Shaunie Oneal said the following: “As a woman of color with kids, I am very aware of myself, but I also have to be aware that my choices cannot be the same for everyone on the show and I have to respect that. I hope the fans feel they see a balance and know we have always been real with our stories, even though it may not always be a positive portrayal of adult women but real women nonetheless. I look forward to developing other media platforms in the future and hope that fans will continue to support.”

Did she just say “balance”? Really? Ok let’s look for the balance. Let’s see. Royce is known to strip down into some lingerie in an instant to whoever her current “man” is; there is always some cattiness and a fight taking place.  Gossiping and ambushing one another is a regular occurrence, and apparently the “b” word doubles as a term of endearment and an insult, Evelyn and Tammy are known to be childish and immature bullies, and none of them are WIVES at all. Did I miss the part about balance?

What is Shaunie teaching her daughters? Oh yes, the art of pimping. Would she allow these same women to mentor and be a role model for her daughters? Would she encourage her daughters to emulate ANY of the women that are on her show? I seriously doubt it, yet she has no problem allowing the daughters of our community to be influenced by them.

Now on to “Love and Hip Hop” where the script doesn’t change nor does the quality or lack thereof of the characters. Again we have Baby Mamas, Long term “Girlfriends” AKA “Wifey” Fighting, Cursing, Yelling…..and again all from “grown” women.

A friend of mine posted an article on my facebook page last week, and the article asked the question; “Can you turn a whore into a housewife?” In this day and age our young girls probably think they HAVE to BE a whore in order to BECOME a wife. I read an article about two years ago, and young girls ranging  from age 9-12 were surveyed and  asked who were their role models. Do you know who was at the top of the list? Amber Rose! Now what is she known for? Her physique, her sexuality and her relationship with men and nothing beyond that.  Our daughters look at her, at the Kim Kardashians of the world, the video vixens;  the types of women that seem to get the most attention from men, and think they have to be just like them.

What message do you think these shows and these women send to our daughters and the daughters of our community? To the young Sister that may feel trapped and is yearning for a way out, she will use her body to attract the attention of men, hoping she catches a baller, so that she can make a down payment via her womb on what she hopes will be a lavish future; i.e. child support checks. These shows teach our daughters that women don’t need substance, or intelligence, as the women on those types of shows don’t seem to have a vocabulary that extends beyond cursing.

So when we have shows that glamorize being a baby mama, that promote promiscuity, being loud mouthed, a bully, immature, materialistic and the shows are being produced BY WOMEN, they are not only pimping the women on the SHOW, but if we continue to watch these types of shows, if our daughters watch this types of shows, then ultimately THEY are being groomed for a harem.

TV has become the new H** stroll and to many of us are willingly volunteering to be the bottom B***. These shows are successful because WE watch them. You have the power to change the channel; I suggest you start exercising it.

And these shows are only partially responsible for the behavior of the young girls in the black community. Black males are just as guilty.

I Watch these shows strictly as my “guilty pleasure”…knowing these women have scripts prompting them to act wild and crazy. One season Tammy is suing Evelyn and this season they’re all chummy…wow! You must admit…these women give great laughs, but yes if I had a daughter I’d definitely explain to her that this is television, and not reality as they attempt to depict it.

When these programs were promoed I waited happily in anticipation to finally see successful beautiful black women show how they lived in style and how they developed their success. Unfortunately, I was deeply and increasingly disappointed with the Basketball Wives et all and Love and Hip Hop because all of these show are a terrible depiction of the very worst of back women. Most of the women I know would never behaving in this way so where did they get these ‘girls’ from because they surely are not adult in their behavior!! I have stopped watching and have increased my quality tv viewing and reading tremendously!! We need to simply stop watching garbage tv so these women can get back to messing up their own lives, seek essential counseling and stop showing young impressionable girls how to behave badly.

Tell it!! I see black women acting this way more and more now, and what’s equally bad is that these are the same type of “Strong black women” who get mad if you call them out for their messed up behavior.
