The Problem with Barack Hussein Obama…

(ThyBlackMan.com) President Barack Hussein Obama is an African-American, but not in the traditional sense. His wife is. His children are, but he is not. His father was an African, his mother was an American and this was his paradigm until he reached adulthood. The President was raised by his white American family who gave him quite the “can do” mentality. Sure, he grew up ethnically mixed, but he did so on Hawaii where there may have been questions about what he was, but where I’m sure he never faced the level of racism that he would have if he were raised in Kansas where his family was originally from. I suspect that this is why the Dunham’s stayed on Hawaii in the first place.

Barack was tall, handsome, exceptionally smart, charming, and light-skinned. It could be argued that he has lived an exceptionally charmed life for a black man. These privileges which have allowed the President to go further in America than any man who ever looked like him before are also his problem. The President’s exceptional status is a double-edged sword. I suspect that many bi-racial children experience living in the black and white Americas from an insider’s perspective where most African-Americans can only experience it from the historical perspective of being descendant from  slaves. Perhaps this lends itself to convoluted thinking about race. Perhaps it lends itself to misunderstanding the axiom that no matter what you do in life, to some people in America, you are still just a nigger.

I believe that President Obama may not have been aware that so much of the country thinks this way. It has become very fashionable in America to act as though the struggle for equality is over. It is very easy for both left and right to gloss over racial issues in the new sport of pretending it never happened. I suspect that President Obama may have fallen into the category of someone who thought that it was over at large. Those elevated death threats were just a few nut-jobs out there and the electorate itself was still not subject to those kinds of forces, he might have thought. I believe that the President has all along underestimated the motivating force of racism during his term. I believe that he may not have wanted to believe that the galvanizing force in the Tea Bag Party was racism itself or that elected representatives, many of whom are his former colleagues would actually use his ethnic heritage as a political weapon. It is one thing for Orly Taitz to call for his birth certificate, but it’s an entirely different thing to have Jim DeMint refuse to cede the point on national television.

He had to be thinking that they were the rational adults and that they in government would cut through the noise to do what’s right for the American people. Couldn’t they see how desperately the people wanted change in 2008? Couldn’t they see that the new direction is clear? He may have pondered. No Mr. President, they are no different than those who call you a Nazi and a nigger. No Mr. President, they are no different than those who call you the anti-Christ and phone in death threats. And no Mr. President, they do not want to work with you on anything. They just want to get your black ass out so that they can get back to redistributing the wealth upwards so that it can trickle down back into their pockets. That’s all that they really care about. The fact that he is African-American just makes him an easy target for racism and xenophobia. The fact that he hasn’t lived a traditional African-American life may have left him unprepared. I’m here to tell the President that the time for him to be an easy target is over.

It is time for you to be frank with the people. Tell them how they are being manipulated against their own best interests and do it over and over again until they get the point. You are going to have to find a way to penetrate the right-wing media bubble. I suggest you start issuing direct challenges to their real leadership: Limbaugh, Beck, and Palin. The elected officials in the House and the Senate have very little sway over public opinion, but those three make up the bullhorns of hatred that seek to take you down and to enslave every single American to corporate interests. It is time to monopoly bust. It is time for union strengthening. It is time for a kamikaze President who doesn’t give a damn about being reelected. It may be Barack Hussein Obama’s destiny to perform a truly selfless service to his nation and to be the sacrificial lamb that it needs to survive. Something or someone has to wake this nation from its apathetic slumber before the corporations own it lock, stock, and barrel. The problem with Barack Hussein Obama is that he has yet to show that kamikaze attitude…yet!!!
