A Black Man’s View Of The Impeachment Inquiry Of Donald Trump.

(ThyBlackMan.com) It is not lost on me that this present feeling of déjà vu is rife with irony. From whence does this irony emanate, well, it is Malcolm X’s great quote of “I’m a good old country boy and it ain’t never made me sad, its only made me glad when the chickens come home to roost.” When Malcolm used this popular saying to address the misdeeds of a nation led by what many argue were unscrupulous politicians. Of course, our dear brother Malcolm’s statement was his unique way of commenting that the violence American political leaders perpetrated around the globe finally returned to claim the life of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. In essence, Malcolm was stating a universal truth that we will all “reap what we sow.”

It appears that it is now time for Donald J. Trump to reap what he has sown.

I am sure that if asked away from news media and reporters that even the most ardent Conservatives would agree that Trump has not conducted him in a manner becoming of the U.S. President. The current occupant of the Oval Office has led a gang of individuals who have made questionable decisions regarding domestic and foreign policies that have negatively impacted arenas ranging from the economy, military expenditures, trade, and even climate control. Even a cursory examination reveals that this roving band of misfits have brazenly broken laws to advance their pursuit of political power, a commodity that converts into socially irresponsible financial gain. Most shocking is the reality that Trump’s antics have occurred with little to no cover. Such brazen activity communicates an arrogance of feeling that Trump and his henchmen are above the Law.

Considering the above, I am certain that you will understand my surprise at the impeachment inquiry that has been initiated against Trump. Not that history would ever forget Trump’s tenure in the White House, this latest political occurrence puts him in the company of Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton in having articles of impeachment directed at them. Most Americans fail to realize that not a single American President has been removed via impeachment proceedings; Nixon chose to resign prior to the proceedings.

As you very well expect, I view these developments through a prism that makes Brother Malcolm’s quip of “being a good old country boy and it ain’t never made me sad, its only made me glad when the chickens coming home to roost.” I have no sympathy for Trump as there is not an iota of evidence that he was unaware of how brazen his activities have been. He consciously sowed these wicked seeds of corruption and immorality with the expectation that they would “never come home to roost.” The great Abolitionist Frederick Douglass posited the following remark nearly two centuries ago. It is amazing that it is relevant the impeachment inquiry of Trump.

When men sow the wind, it is rational to expect that they will reap the whirlwind.

Douglass’ comment is a truism that has lasted through the annals of time.

Unfortunately for Trump and his roving band of thieves, “the chicken have come home to roost” and they are now being forced to face some semblance of justice. As Huey P. Newton once stated, “It might be a good picture show or it might be a bad picture show. One thing is for certain, it is going to be a show.”
