(ThyBlackMan.com) It started off as K2, Mojo Spice and other herbal alternatives to marijuana that were not necessarily for smoking purposes. Sometimes the potpourri which clearly stated “not for human consumption” was smoke in an effort to find a high greater then marijuana. It is also important to not none of these items were considered illegal. If you were caught smoking them the consequence was not the same as being caught with weed. However, it is important to be careful what you consider trying as a knock of a real product. Mojo, or synthetic cannabinoids, unlike weed is mid changing and for many the drugs can be fatal.
Synthetic cannabinoids are herbs that have been sprayed with different chemicals, and it can now be found in a more concentrated liquid form. It is habit forming and quite different from natural marijuana in its side effects. Weed is known to give people the munchies, calm their nerves, make them sleep, relieve different kinds of stress, and for some its prescription from their doctor. On its own marijuana is not going cause psychosis in its user, nor death.
“There are no fatal overdose cases linked to marijuana, but deaths associated with synthetic cannabinoids are increasing. The CDC found that the number of deaths from synthetic cannabinoid use tripled between 2014 and 2015. These drugs are dangerous because they are more potent than marijuana, and due to the large quantity of different structures that fall under the same common names, users are often unaware of exactly what they are getting and how potent it is.”
One of the serious concerns regarding synthetic cannabinoids, mojo, is its ability to alter the mind. The drugs can obviously cause recurrences in those that suffer from mental illness. However, it can bring on mental illness in someone that did not have such prior to using these drugs. “Cases have been reported in which a user was reduced to a psychotic state after using “Mojo” and other synthetic cannabinoids only once. The drug has caused mental illnesses similar to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and ADHD in some users.” In there have been instances whereby the user has been rendered suicidal, or even homicidal.
There are psychotic drugs that can be given to handle the mental side effects of synthetic cannabinoids. Currently users would have to be treated for the symptoms of the mental illnesses they display.” Individuals with risk factors for psychotic disorders are often counseled against using synthetic cannabinoids. Psychiatrists have suggested that the lack of an antipsychotic chemical, like CBD in natural cannabis, may make synthetic cannabinoids more likely to induce psychosis than natural cannabis.”
Recently on Facebook there have been pictures circulating of four young men that appear to be unconscious form the use of mojo. This has re-introduced people to a drug that has not stopped being used, and it remains dangerous. In New Haven Connecticut just recently in 2018 there was almost 100 incidents of overdose reported in two days. Whether or not to smoke marijuana is an ongoing discussion, and the laws are changing in its favor. If one feels they have to smoke it would be better to stick to the natural form, because this synthetic version will quickly destroy your mind if you survive.
