(ThyBlackMan.comDecember is here and often it is the time of year that we start to think about the year gone by and what changes we would like to make for the new year ahead. However, like most resolutions made after a few too many drinks on new year’s eve, they can often be forgotten about or given up on during the month of January. But, the intention was there to make the changes, which is why I thought next year we should focus on feeling good. So how do you do that? I wanted to share with you some of the ways you can feel good in 2018.

Changing your diet

One of the first things you can do is look at your current diet and make some changes. Of course, many people go on a diet in the new year so what’s different about that? The truth is, instead of going for some crazy diet that just isn’t sustainable, you should look at changing a few elements of your diet instead. Maybe focusing on your portion sizes, or increasing the amount of vegetables you eat in your meals. It might even be to cook from scratch more rather than focusing on processed or ready made food bought from supermarkets. The small changes you make can often have the biggest impact.

Investing in the clothes you wear

Your appearance can have a huge impact on how you feel, so why not put some focus on what you wear as a priority in the new year. Embrace the sales, look online at things like the dickies eisenhower jacket or some new jeans. Maybe invest in some new work attire or outfits for weekends. Although buying a whole new wardrobe may seem pricey, doing it in January can be quite financially worthwhile with sales and using coupons to bring the cost down.

Becoming more active

Maybe you need to be more active in 2018. Again exercising is a real common resolution to have, but putting focus on being more active could be the best way to ensure that you get more out of it. Instead do joining a gym and starting to do too much too soon, why not try and be more active by heading out for a walk a few times a week? Or choosing to workout at home instead? The trick with this is to not put too much pressure on yourself.

Changing your mindset and being more positive

Finally, changing your mindset can have a real positive impact on you during the new year. Focusing more on positive thoughts and how you feel about life is a great pace to start. Make sure you really try and eliminate any negative thoughts, and if you do have them, then try and turn it into a positive straight after. You could also try gratitude and being grateful for everything you do have in life. It can really affect you and help you to approach things in a different way.
