Get enough sleep, maybe do some exercise, eat properly that day if you’re not too nervous, and try in be in a good state of mind when you have it. Put your best foot forward, and let them know you will be a great employee. Congratulations for getting this far! Not everyone gets to the interview stage, and so they must have seen something in you. You’re gonna be great,  just follow these couple of steps to give the best interview you can.

Research

What company, or organisation, shop, outlet, or establishment are you applying to? If they have website find out as much as you can about it. They will probably have questions to ask you about their website for example. A popular question is, how do you think you can improve our company? What is it that you can bring to the table? Be prepared for these kinds of questions, as they want to know they are hiring the right person.

It’s also useful to find out about their competitors too, who is competing with them? It is a rival company, or is an online website trying to steal their customers? Knowing these kinds of details can really make you stand out. It shows your organised, you’ve done your research, and at the end of the day, that you’re serious about the job. If you have in mind any improvements you could make, this would be good to talk about at the interview too.

Look the Part

When you look good, you’re proud of how you look, you’re going to be confident. If you need to, get a new suit, or even a crisp new shirt, will really make you look the part. You would be surprised how differently an interview can go, when someone is comfortable and proud of how they look, and someone who isn’t. If you’re dressed right, your mind can be focused totally on the interview. It’s never good to be thinking about how itchy your shirt is, or how tight and uncomfortable your pants are.

On the Day

Try and be as well rested as possible, and be in the best state of mind. If you know that means getting an early night, or going for a run the night before, do it. Arrive 5 or 1 minutes early. It not only makes you look punctual, but gives you a minute to sit down and catch your breath. Be polite and friendly to everyone you meet and have a positive attitude.

If you’ve taken these steps to prepare for your interview, you will do great. Preparation and organisation, is how you are going to give the best interview you can. Even if you don’t get the job, interviews are still good practice for the next one.
