The Police – Occupying Military Enemies To Urban America.

(ThyBlackMan.com) The urban community’s relationship with the police in America historically and today is very anti-democratic and oppressive.

It’s no secret that most white people in this country love the police and most urban people with the exception of petty bou negroes hate the police.

An example of white folks love for the police was a statement that the white nationalist-in-chief Donald Trump recently made with police officers standing behind him. He along with other white nationalists promote and advocate for police violence particularly against the poor and oppressed people in this country.

Trump said referring to members of the notorious street gang of MS-13 as “animals” who have “transformed peaceful parks and beautiful quiet neighborhoods into blood-stained killing fields.”

And then he said in regards to us, “When you see these towns and when you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just see them thrown in, rough, and I said, ‘Please don’t be too nice“.

The police in this country started off as slave catchers that would often catch and kill slaves who would either attempt to escape or managed to escape from their colonial male overseers.

Fast forward 500 plus years later, the slave catchers have evolved to sheriff to the police. But here’s the thing: The Police function as a vicious and oppressive arm of The State that maintains this oppressive and destructive relationship between the haves and the have nots.

City & State governments across the country have put such an extreme incentive on what they call as “public safety” which is their code word for putting more police officers into our community to keep us repressed and to prevent us from ever rising up against them.

Young urban kids certainly do not feel safe under the public policy of police containment because our kids in the public school system are often harassed, intimidated, tazed, pepper sprayed, and fiercely thrown to the ground with a knee dug into their back by police officers leaving them with very serious physical and psychological injuries that are difficult for some to overcome.

And on top of that, our kids are also systemically targeted and killed with impunity by the police and we’ve seen the stories of urban kids who had dreams and aspirations get taken away from them at the hands of the police from Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Aiyana Jones, Mike Brown to Dominque Battle, Laniyah Miller, Ashaunti Butler.

Having more police officers in urban communities does not decrease “crime”, it actually does the opposite by multiplying it via stop and frisk, racial profiling, and also heavy involvement in the mass incarceration of urban people.

One of the main examples of police containment in our community is in the public schools in urban areas where there are between 3-5 officers just stalking the hallway ready to terrorize and criminalize urban students. The other example of police containment in our community is these “raids” where they send in the SWAT team (aka Jumpstreet in street slang) to raid urban homes of “suspected drug dealers” while also blocking off that entire area for several hours.

The Conclusion – To end this oppressive, anti-democratic relationship between our community and the police, we must demand Black Community Control Of The Police where we have the ability to hire, fire, train, and discipline police officers who wanna come into our community to ensure genuine public safety for our community.
