(ThyBlackMan.com) The other day my daughter burst into my home, eyes reddened and swollen from tears, yelling, “Somebody needs to do something about Donald Trump! He’s a bully, a fabricator, a womanizer, and he’s racially insensitive! He is so not Presidential!”
Mirthfully, I smiled at her naiveté. Yes, I do agree that President Trump appears to have a strained relationship with the truth. Yes, I do agree that President Trump remains happily married to immorality and, in most probability, permanently divorced from dignity. Yes, I do agree that his racial innuendos should be banned from traveling from his lips to anyone’s ears.
However, his racism is not an inherited trait nor is it an ingrained custom. In actuality, his racism is nothing more than a colorful costume designed specifically to mask racial insecurities, spiritual shortcomings, and undeveloped social skills that have been retarded by a warped ego and, subsequently, exacerbated by a militia of YES-MEN.
I explained to my daughter that, if nothing else, Donald Trump is Presidential. Her problem is she’s been spoiled by the Obama Effect. In the wake of Barack’s exodus from the Oval Office, she was anticipating another articulate, insightful, well-mannered, highly educated, political Chess-master.
For the last eight years, she slept like a baby; securely blanketed by the comfortable Red, White and Blue arms of a self-assured American President. I had to remind her that former President Barack and “we go high” Michelle were an anomaly. Once you go Black, you can’t go back!
Prior to Obama, George W. Bush was at the helm of America’s political landscape. And, we all know what he did and/or didn’t do. His Presidential résumé included the Iraq War, Hurricane Katrina, Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse, NSA warrantless surveillance, and the Guantanamo Bay detention camp controversies.
Prior to George W., “Wild Bill” Clinton held the reins to guide the greatest nation. He authored the Omnibus Crime Bill which expanded the death penalty to include drug related crimes, adversely affecting African-Americans. A few years later, he was entangled in impeachment proceedings for perversely tangling with Monica Lewinski.
Prior to Clinton, in 1990, the year that my daughter was born, Bush 41 was in charge. He was the Commander in Chief who replaced an 83 year old retired civil rights icon and Supreme Court Justice named Thurgood Marshall with a 43 year old Negro named Clarence Thomas.
“Consequently,” I said to my daughter, “if apathy, insensitivity, spying, perversion, mass and lengthy incarceration, misogyny, and torturing are characteristics and precedents of the aforementioned American Presidents; then, yes, Donald Trump is most certainly Presidential. After Obama, he’s making America GRATE again.
In my most humble opinion, he just misspelt GRATE!
