(ThyBlackMan.com) I understand we always feel the need to compare current artist with the previous. There are many that would say, yes, Beyoncé is a lot like Janet Jackson. Anyone looking at these two can see a few comparisons. Janet Jackson is an amazing performer with longevity in the business. Every album gave us something different, and she never neglected to address social issues through her music.
Everything about albums like “Rhythm Nation” set a standard for what we see today. Granted Beyoncé is also a stellar performer in every right. Beyonce has been a big proponent for Girl Power, but in this regard, she is following in the footsteps of say a Janet Jackson. Furthermore, we are just beginning to see the addressing of social issues through the music that affect Beyoncé.
Janet Jackson is stand alone, and so is Beyonce, this is the reason I would say we should lay off the comparison. Just we could try to compare the two icons all day, however I think Janet Jackson had a bit more variety in her content (not by much), than Beyonce. Janet Jackson didn’t make albums that seemed to be centered around her husband as of course she wasn’t married. Yes, both have epic concert performances, and choreographer. Janet Jackson and Beyoncé are considered sexy, but I think Janet left more to our imagination on the stage…while Beyoncé may be more sexually conservative on the actual album.
The comparison of icons is tempting. Janet Jackson came first and yes she laid a path that Beyonce, and others, could follow. However, these entertainers are also very different, and the differences set them apart. Some will always argue that maybe Beyoncé is the better singer, but Janet the better performer…who knows.
Then, of course die hard Janet Jackson fans will say Beyonce can never compare to the legend. Lastly, we know the Beyhive eat and sleep Beyoncé and Janet Jackson is the past. I’d prefer they are both iconic entertainers and they should stand in their own light.

Janet > Beyonce. The end.
I had to come back after reading who the so-called writer for this crap-piece was to say: As we live in the day and age of women using their bodies for monetary gain, and in order to get a man…where the goals of a lot of young women and girls are taught that being naked, gyrating, twerking, stripping and pole dancing is glorified, it would not surprise me that this writer, however old, would choose to say that beYAWNce is the queen. Janet is the blue print for black women who danced, sang and performed and it was all about just that. Janet has swag, she has charisma, she had moves, she awes her audience and she is a trendsetter who makes statements, not only with her style, but with her lyrics in her music. As the 90`s began, Janet and Madonna ruled, however, Madonna took what Janet did and still does today and made it trashy, slutty, whorish and she set the trend for what beYAWNce does now. So there were two images that where going on during that time. A female could go the clean sexy route with Janet, or they could go all out rebellious, slutty, shameless with madonna. Fast forward 30 years later, Janet is still a class act and she has laid the blue print for some of these younger artist, but the majority of young female performers have taken the madonna route and now whorish dancing and skanky behavior is the majority rule…even Janets contemporaries, like Mariah has joined the whore show and she is now more of a joke than the prolific singer who was neck and neck with Whitney Houston for having the greatest voices around. So I am really embarrassed that a woman chooses, and is applauds a woman like beYAWNce to represent them and say that she is a queen over Janet who is also a business woman, entrepreneur, dancer, singer, actress, humanitarian, feminist, new mom and wife, who exemplifies what a young black girl or woman should look up to as opposed to a woman who bleaches her skin to look white, promotes sex and teaches young girls and women to use sex to sell music concert tickets and other gimmicks to stay relevant.
Beyonce was never independent. She needed other members of Destiny child for becoming popular. Because her father was manager of the group, she got middle place. And later she backstabbed them when the group became enough popular for every member to stand up on their own feet but after separation, since her father was the manager of all, no one other than her weren’t given opportunities to show their talent. Variety and bit much? Control, independence; Rhythm nation, social awareness; Janet, sexuality; Velvet rope, depression; All for you, freedom; Damita jo, alter ego; Janet is far diverse artist than Beyonce is. Most Beyonce albums are about love, like other love, there’s no life. Beyonce didn’t even forget to copy concepts of Janet albums as well, Sasha Fierce (cough Damita jo), Formation (cough Rhythm nation). Janet is original and A grade artist, Beyonce is copycat and B grade artist and person. Comparing them is ridiculous. Janet is best, better singer than Beyonce (screaming on every line is not singing), better dancer, and better performer. Beyonce will be forgotten but Janet never.
I like Beyoncé but the queen and always the queen will always be Janet Jackson the Queen Of Pop and greatest living legend alive Beyonce like all Janet other followers are copycats of hers Janet never had to strip or hump floors to get attention like Madonna does or buy awards like beyonce does Janet Jackson the teacher while your fav the student
The fleahive can talk shit they all kids that’s why none of them don’t know what a legend is Janet Jackson is the greatest living entertainer
Nobody will never be up there in supremacy to the Janet Jackson the queen of pop laid the foundation which Beyoncé stands on so I keep your opinion to yourself
That’s your opinion, however I don’t and will not compare Janet to beYAWNce, because beYAWNce is a deceiver, sheisty and uses a lot of trickery with her fans…to include faking a pregnancy and recently trying to overshadow and be the center of media attention by promoting deception to keep herself relevant. Stage Elevator fights between her sister and Jay-Z, faking a pregnancy and faking a divorce, all to stay relevant, sell records and concert tickets. And most recently with Janet giving birth at 50 and making the news, and with Ciara being pregnant with her second child, of course beYAWNce will feel threatened and not garnering the attention she THINKS she deserves, the all of a sudden is pregnant with twins. Personally, I think it’s another attempt to stay relevant…however, if you look at Janet, she never craved the limelight, she promoted her music, she did the tour she went back into hiding. Even now, with twitter, instagram, Janet does not need to be like Madonna and force people to keep her in their every thought or her every move. You can compare beYAWNce and Madonna because they both are narcissistic, attention whores…and so that’s why I respect and love Janet, she’s famous because she’s talented, she non-controversial, non-deceptive. Her music even now with Unbreakable, speaks from experience, emotions and life. beYAWNce’s music is hood rat music, she sings about material things, hot sauce in her bag, and always singing about her being the queen and that she slays. This is a FAR cry from Janet’s blue print…Janet’s not naked on stage, she’s sexy onstage, showing a bit of cleavage, and her mid section…but still fully dressed. Even with her Unbreakable tour with her being even more clothed, you can see the sexiness, by the way she carries herself on stage, her confidence…beYAWNce has to be naked along with 15 other naked women on stage, twerking and coochie poppin….so no, there is no comparison, not even close and they should never be talked about in the same sentence…
