(ThyBlackMan.com) We can’t be happy without our relationships. And it is inevitable in relationships that you eventually find yourself in a position that calls for forgiveness. I want you to think for a moment about a relationship in which you are struggling to forgive, and consider the words you’re reading right now to be written just for you.

Exactly right, Valorie. In my church the last Sunday before Lent is Forgiveness Sunday, where every parishioner (and the priest and all the other altar servers) ask for personal forgiveness of any sins they may have committed against others in the parish, and forgive everyone who asks forgiveness of them. This isn’t done as a group, but individually, one person to another, directly. It is amazingly freeing. We all end the service with the feeling that a great weight has been lifted from our shoulders. It’s something that everyone should experience. Forgiving others isn’t for their benefit, it’s for yours.
