(ThyBlackMan.com) For many years, the black community has been swindled into voting for the Democratic party, even if the benefits the Democratic party offered to African Americans and minorities were dismal at best. During this campaign, Donald Trump has been vilified left and right because of his controversial stance on illegal immigration and domestic terrorism. However, could it be that his policies could actually help the African American community as a whole? Well, here are some examples of policies that could actually be of help for the black community.
Illegal Immigration Affects Domestic Jobs
While it is often a populist cliché used by far right fear mongers, illegal immigration does have a significant effect on labor, especially in areas heavily populated by illegal immigrants. Because of the laws of supply and demand, and the increasing labor pool at the lower end of the spectrum, there has been no incentive to increase salaries for lower paying jobs, which many blacks and minorities in this country depend on. According to a study by the United States Commission on Civil Rights, illegal immigration does not only affect wages, but employment rates and discrimination against black workers as well.
Globalization
As we all know, Donald Trump is a staunch anti globalist and ran his platform on the premise of retracting from multiple trade agreements he feels are detrimental to the US. Truth is, globalization affects the black community in more ways than one. For instance, most factory and unskilled labor jobs are the first to be shipped overseas. These jobs are often the only available to a large portion of the black community. Also, Trump’s intention to reduce the regulatory and tax cost of doing business in the United States should help the economy as a whole.
Another thing about globalization is that many trade partners have protectionist policies while America has had more of an open border policy in the last few years. For instance, Japan, which produces almost half of the cars in the United States, only allows a 5% foreign penetration on its own market. This eventually leads to trade deficits.
Trump’s Tax Policy
But one aspect that was completely overlooked in the recent election was both party’s tax plans, which should really be at the center of the discussion. In Trump’s tax plan, single earners making less than $25000 a year and couples earning $50000 or less will be free of federal tax. Furthermore, Trump plans to cut tax for the self employed, which many blacks and minorities fall under. And while he also proposed corporate tax cuts, he also proposed a reduction of the number of loopholes that keep corporate revenue out of the country.
Another interesting aspect in Trumps tax policy is student loan forgiveness after 15 years. This is both for students attending traditional colleges and those attending online colleges such as George Washington University which offers an online master’s in political science that is sought after by many African American students. Online political science masters and other online degrees tend to be very popular among minorities because of the often lower cost of tuition, but Trump’s loan forgiveness policy could do wonders for minorities seeking an higher education.
Conclusion
So, what can we make about Donald Trump’s policies as far as the black community goes? That maybe, just maybe, some of his policies may end up helping the black community in the long run. While what Trump will do remains to be seen, his demonization by the left may have been fueled by fear and traditional allegiances more than actual facts. However, it will be up to the people of the United States to make their demands heard and make sure that all these measures are implemented in the first place.

The November 28, 2016, Chicago Sun-Times, Fran Spielman article: “Black Politicians Unite After Murder of Congressman’s Grandson” outlined specifically the exact plan that Todd Elliott Koger has shared with the Congressional black leadership, the “Movement for Blacklivesmatter,” Rev. Jesse Jackson, private foundations, and the like. In fact, Mr. Koger had already complained that the Urban League also usurped this proposal.
None of the black leadership named in the Chicago Sun-Times article had previously demonstrated any interest for the suggestion until apparently “word got out that Mr. Koger also shared the Plan with Donald Trump.” That is, the black leadership named in the Chicago Sun-Times’ article has always taken direct issue with Mr. Trump arguing that “BLACKS ARE NOT LIVING IN THE PRECARIOUS SITUATION OUTLINED.” Donald Trump was the only one willing to listen to Mr. Koger (blacks have been voting almost 50 years “straight” Democrat and our situation remained the same or worst).
First Mr. Trump issued an online video that addressed our plight. Next he went to Michigan and then took the message to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Thereafter, Mr. Koger packaged the visual optics and shared Mr. Trump’s fight against the “status quo” with black America to grow an arsenal of black Trump supporters.
When “sh*t hit the fan” in October 2016 and everyone started to run from Mr. Trump . . . Mr. Koger suggested the need for a new “writing” for black America to put things back on track. Thereafter, Mr. Trump almost immediately issued a “New Deal For Black America.”
Donald Trump owes his victory to “predominately black Democratic strongholds of Pennsylvania” who were convinced to give Mr. Trump more votes than the previous Republican Party presidential candidate. African Americans like Todd Elliott Koger convinced hundreds of thousands blacks in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and various other states to boycott the vote and/or the traditional “straight” Democratic Party vote.
Mr. Trump’s “margin of victory” is realized when you combine this with an increase of “Obama white voters” in Wisconsin and Michigan voting Trump in 2016. Trump won Pennsylvania by 1.1 percentage points (68,236 votes), Wisconsin by 0.9 points (27,257 votes), and Michigan by 0.2 points (11,837 votes). If Hillary Clinton had won all three states, she would have won the Electoral College 278 to 260. She fell short in all three.
