(ThyBlackMan.com) History is the most important part of Human Development for it defines who we become as a people and also help us prepare for the future challenges.
In Rwanda, each regime has tried everything within its powers to suppress the achievements of the previous regime and this has mostly been done by revisiting critical facts that constitute the History of the state.
So far none of the Heads of State Rwanda has had in the past has shown that Rwanda is bigger than their political ambitions and to make matters worse, the sense of patriotism is only as expressed by the Political Party in Power, not the political rubric that brings a people together whose core ideals are reflected in National Unity.
I love to think that each regime has chosen to ignore Historical Realities due to circumstances beyond their control but isn’t compromising the necessary facts that enable any outsider to know more about Rwanda rather preposterous?
In today’s world-Rwanda has demonised one section of her people as “Genocidaires” whereas the other faction comprises of either “Liberators” or “Perpetual Victims.”-both qualities which could be interpreted as degrading.
Blame has been generalised and anyone bold enough to challenge the status quo is viewed as a sympathiser to the “Genocidaires” or merely too naïve to think that they know better.
That is why Musician Kizito Mihigo,a known Tutsi and victim of the Rwandan Genocide as told by Paul Kagame, was imprisoned shortly after he pondered on the memories of the Hutu souls which were lost in 1994 that the RPF has chosen not to remember for the most outrageous reasons.
He was merely corroborating a philosophy earlier on espoused by 2010 Rwandan Aspiring President-Victoire Ingabire who is also a Political Prisoner in one of Paul Kagame’s dungeons.
Scientific research is only accepted if it does not touch the sanctity attached to the “genocide” version advanced by the current RPF Regime.
Furthermore,to think that Rwandans resented each other as it has been propagated by the current regime conflicts with common sense for they have lived peacefully with each other after the alleged genocide against the Tutsi.
Assuming that Paul Kagame’s government was so effective as to prevent “revenge” from these unfortunate souls would not only be a defiance of logic but a departure from accepted human behaviour that no sensible society will adopt save “archangels” who are not from this planet of Living Beings.
Moreover, the 1995 Kibeho Massacre and various Innocent Hutu Lives that were lost in the Congo Wars at the hands of the Rwandan Army speak of the contrary.
Whenever our “Great Leader/Mzee” as he likes to be viewed is asked why Rwandans have transcended their “nightmarish” past and grown into a Stable State in the region marred with political turmoil,
Paul Kagame points at his ability to forgive the alleged offenders through a Judicial System that enabled the community to find solutions to their grievances by themselves.
He talks of Gacaca Courts but the question is what is “justice” in the Rwandan context, can it be applied in a Democratic Society Rwanda claims to be?
B.O. Nwabueze in his book on Democratisation says:
“Laws should accordingly be made for the generality of the people, and not for named persons or group for individualised treatment by legislation may not only be arbitrary, it can easily lend itself to oppression, favouritism or other kinds of discriminatory uses.
The greatest protection against legislative arbitrariness and discrimination lies therefore in its generality and equality of application to all persons.”
As we speak,
It has become common practice for the RPF Regime to silence any of its opponents in the name of “divisionism” or “genocide ideology” laws as promulgated by the RPF Regime in its political ideology.
What is even more appalling is how discriminatory laws have become widely accepted in the Rwandan Criminal Judicial System and the rubber stamp judiciary has not recused itself from condemning people basing their reasoning on purely ethnic lines or RPF Ideologies.
Selective legislation has been defended as constituting part of the novel National History and the offsprings of the “Genocidaires” are partially as guilty as their Fathers who allegedly brought a Great Nation to her knees only to be saved from extinction by the Messiah in the name of Paul Kagame.
It is inherently criminal to be born “Hutu” and more advantageous to be from Tutsi heritage-something I believe is equally unsolicited by most Tutsi as well.
The Constitution has impliedly acknowledged one clan to be Superior to the other but this does not mean that all Tutsi are in agreement with this insidious endeavour for “evil” is not inalienable.
Even more so,how many Tutsi has Paul Kagame killed over the years?
History is the only problem (we) Rwandans fail to reconcile with.
Do you remember what Paul Kagame used to say about “UMUGANDA” when Habyarimana was in power?
Wasn’t the practice some “form of slavery” according to him?
Why did he adopt it if it was that bad?
Now-everyone in the Western World praises him for something he once opposed vehemently.
I wonder, if asked-whether he would give proper due to his predecessor who initiated the whole progressive project.
Truth be told, Rwanda was “clean” before Kagame took over and noone cared about it because at the time, Rwanda was not as influentual in World Politics as it is today.
To his admnistration, the late President was the “mastermind” of the infamous Tutsi genocide and during over two decades of his rule,Rwanda benefited nothing but “hatred” towards the Tutsi minority-an oppression HE and the RPF Rebellion put to an end.
According to the RPF,if they had not saved Rwandans from themselves through a bloody rebellion,Rwanda would be erased from history because of her incompetent Hutu Leaders who are unfit to rule and lack salient leadership qualities needed for the “royal” Presidential Chair.
In Kagame’s world,’All that Hutu are good at is cultivating.’
Politics must be left to the gifted “Abega” Clan.
In conclusion,
The philosophy that every previous regime efforts lacked deference for one ethnic group or region will only lead us to “building castles in the air” where the prevention of another calamity is concerned for such a mindset will only make true reconciliation utopian.
Let Rwandans come first, not political ideologies for every development draws its mandates from Hutu,Tutsi and Twa.
And to enact laws that are not of National Character will only create more Rwandan Refugees as it has been the case since 1994 for every Rwandan hopes to secure favourable conditions that will enable him to pursue happiness and feel humane in his native country.
The hypocrisy behind the “Ndi UmunyaRwanda” philosophy must fall because now more than ever all Rwandans know that under the RPF Regime, certain Rwandans are more equal than others.
