Young Thug: I’m a Stoner.

(ThyBlackMan.com) Young Thug certainly embodies the title of his hit song, “I’m a Stoner.” I’m not one to throw stones; but, one would have to be stoned after absorbing music that is mixed with weed, lean, molly, and E. It is rumored that Young Thug drinks prescription cough syrup while laying down his vocals. Perhaps the liquid accentuates his rhymes. I don’t know; but his following is most certainly growing and flourishing.

A one-time Lil Wayne’s protege’, Young Thug has finally come into his own. In fact, when Young Thug released Barter 6, a tribute to Lil Wayne’s Carter V, the latter took offense. However, Young Thug publicly stated that he told the whole world that Lil Wayne was his idol. Nevertheless, Young Thug’s name appeared as a suspect when Lil Wayne’s tour bus was shot at some time ago.

That being said, Young Thug not only embodies his music, he also personifies his name. In February of last year, Young Thug was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia for drug possession. However, his thuggishness didn’t stop there. In July of this year, Young Thug was once again arrested; but, this time, by the US Marshals. It was during this raid that guns and drugs were found and, he was hit with felony drug charges.young-thug-2015-cash-money-records

His off the record infamous antics seem to only increase his popularity and celebrity as hip-hop’s newest bad boy. However, I believe that Young Thug need to realize that nothing destroys a rapper’s career faster than a stint in the slammer. This writer has witnessed the careers of superstar rappers such as Shine, Slick Rick, Just-Ice, Prodigy, Black Rob, G-dep and scores of other entertainers drown in an ocean of obscurity due to unfortunate consequences bestowed upon them by Lady Justice.

Hopefully, as Young Thug finds his way toward intellectual maturation, he’ll find out that thug life mixed with mind altering substances is a surefire way into a lifeless prison or premature death, either way a certain hell awaits the amoral and lawless souls.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the late, legendary hip-hop legend Tupac embraced Thug-Life as an alternate route to move through the despair and destruction of ghetto life. During Tupac’s brief visit to earth, he, like Young Thug, touched the hearts of millions of listeners. Many of these fans are looking for a successful rapper to lyrically map them a path that leads them far away from their miseries. Oft-times, these simplistic fans fail to realize that their youthful, rhyming shepherd is looking for a way out, too.

Therefore, in the end, whether he likes it of not, Young Thugs needs to make a choice. If the blind rappers are leading the blind listeners, then a fiery ditch is inevitable for them both. However, if the stoner sobers some, he definitely has the talent to lead millions to the promised land.
