(ThyBlackMan.com) The culmination of a successful music career for rapper Eminem led to the November 2014 release of Shady XV, an album not by Eminem himself, but by a handful of artists that work with his Shady Records label. It includes some of Eminem’s biggest hits as well as music he believes his fans will love as much as they love his.
Some of Shady Records artists included in this compilation album are Yelawolf, Slaughterhouse, D12 and Bad Meets Evil. Other Shady Records artists that participated in the project included Stat Quo, 50 cent and Ca$his. To get the fans excited about this album, prior to its release Eminem revealed a 20 second video he made to promote it. He also published the list of tracks from the album on his website prior to the album’s release.
When the album came it landed third on the list of the Billboard 200. Though it dropped much lower down the list on the second, third and fourth weeks it was out the album had still sold a total of 231,000 copies only four days in 2015.
Music critics have stated that while some of the songs on this compilation album are no more than average others are quite good and that these balance the album out so that overall, it is getting positive ratings. Diehard Slim Shady fans have responded far better to Eminem’s contributions to the album than the songs written by his other musicians working under his Shady Records label.
