The buzz around the “Eminem” Shady XV album had picked steam gradually in 2014. The fans who saw the rapper’s Monster Tour in August with Rihanna, had a feeling that something new is coming their way! Eminem wore a tee that had the words embossed “Shady XV.” He also tweeted a picture with that tee. The next spoiler came on MTV VMAs night when the rapper unveiled a shady trailer for the forthcoming album. It had images from the singer’s past and cameo by 50 Cent.
Eminem’s camp revealed soon that Eminem” Shady XV album would be a grand two-disc compilation having the greatest hits of Shady Records. It is actually the fifteenth release from the entity coming on its fifteenth anniversary. Eminem was its executive producer.
How the promotion for the album was done
Eminem unveiled a few short videos for promoting the much hyped Eminem” Shady XV album. Before unveiling the album, the rapper also released a minute-long demo edition of “Lose Yourself” his iconic track. Strange as it sounds, Eminem says he simply forgot where and when he actually recorded it! Given his erratic works schedule and lifestyle in past, that is not impossible either. The teasers, as expected made the fans excited and media rife with speculations!
The positive response and success
As expected, Eminem” Shady XV album was commercially successful. It made debut at third position in Billboard 200 chart. However, it also managed to garner largely encouraging reviews from critics upon release late last year. The critics recommended it for fans of Eminem and Shady records. Till January 2015, it has sold more than 230000 units.
The Shady Documentary followed by musical nostalgia
While the Eminem fans are divided on their opinion on appeal of the Eminem” Shady XV album they unanimously agreed on its nostalgic appeal. However, the rapper did not sit idle after releasing the 2 disc compilation. He joined hands with pals like Dr. Dre and 50 Cent to give loyal fans a glimpse into the birth and growth of the label. The well crafted documentary, titled ‘Not Afraid’ is a little more than 30 minutes in length. It gives an impressive insight into the label’s origin, growth and diversification over the years. Overall, it has the same nostalgic mood that you get in the Rapper’s newest compilation album.
