(ThyBlackMan.com) When you here the name Macklemore you think of his hit song Thrift Shop but Macklemore is also known for doing music with Ryan Lewis who together created the hit album “The Heist” it became an instant hit on iTunes as well as on the top charts of Billboard Hot 100 sitting at number 1. Macklemore is also very well known for his second hit single “Can’t Hold Us” it is also known that the duo are the first in Billboard chart history to have both their singles to reach number 1.
In 2014, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were nominated for seven Grammy awards for their album winning 4 out of the 7 for their songs “Same Love, Thrift Shop, Can’t Hold Us” and one for “Best New Artist.” But before his hit album “The Heist” Mack and Ryan were just good friends, Ryan was Macklemore’s photographer helping him gain promotion also producing his music soon to become the best duo we have grown to love and know.
The duo has appeared and performed on both “Ellen DeGeneres and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” in 2012 and 2013. But before doing all those things, Macklemore was actually a well known hit on “The Source” magazine calling him unsigned hype also making it on XXL (magazine) Freshman Class of 2012.
Not many people know that Macklemore earned a bachelors degree from The Evergreen State College, and suffered from drug addiction and alcoholism, but he enjoys MLB and did a song called “My Oh My” dedicated to sportscaster “Dave Niehaus” who passed away in 2010, Macklemore also got engaged to his girlfriend of seven years “Tricia Davis.”
Recently Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have been touring around the U.S and since the Grammy’s there have been beef between Macklemore and Kendrick Lamar over a text message Macklemore sent and ScHoolboy Q jumped in saying “Like, all these rappers talking s**t about Macklemore because of the text, but they wouldn’t be saying that s**t if I sent the text out. Or if Maino sent the text out. Bruh, if Maino sent the text out and put it on Instagram, n***as would be quiet. Macklemore also said that after his “The Heist Tour” wraps up, he and Ryan will be hitting the studio and working on his next album which as of right now has no official released date or title.
