A new era of the “Black College” experience is at hand and you have been chosen to lead this new HBCU movement. Your journey begins with developing a mindset that will carry you through the next 4-5 years of your life and beyond. Here are four strategies that will prepare you for the challenges that lie ahead.

1. Network

There is no secret that networking is the mainstay of the American culture in this social media driven society. But, unless you have the capacity to organize your network into meaningful relationships it means nothing to have a list of 5000 friends per se “Facebook”. Understand that you’ve got to know people in the industry in which you want to work with and begin building rapport now. Get out of you bubble and start networking off campus and around the world via “LinkedIn”.

2. Become a “Specialist” in your chosen field.

The time starts now to begin assessing how you can set yourself apart from theMillionaireMindSet thousands of others students all around the world; who will get a college degree within the same field you have chosen. What this means is that you have to find a niche within your field and master it right now. You don’t have time to wait until graduation to consider your future.
