(ThyBlackMan.com)  Five ways to getting a clean close shave that will leave you with healthy clear skin.

For years, most men of color have struggled to find a way to obtain a clean close shave without skin irritation after shaving.  Razor bumps, also called pseudofolliculitis barbae, are small, irritated bumps that appear on the surface of the skin.  They develop after shaving, when strands of hair curl back on themselves and grow inward. Razor bumps cause irritation and pimples which are known as ingrown hairs.  Over time, they may also cause scarring and discoloration of the skin.

Journalist and filmmaker Jeremy J. Ford is the creator of Bump Be Gone, razor bump removal system.  After years of personally dealing with razor bumps, he formulated a system that is key to the prevention and removal ofMan Shaving razor bumps.  “For years men have had a problem with Razor bumps, and I’ve finally found a solution,” he states.

Often times razor bumps tend to make an appearance within hours to a few days of a razor shave.  Typically, men find razor bumps to be embarrassing and sometimes hideous to look at.  Therefore, some men become self conscious about their appearance in public.  So how does one prevent razor bumps?  These five shaving tips are sure to help with the removal of those troublesome bumps.

1.  A warm moist towel. Often times razor bumps can be the result of coiled hairs curling back into the face or coarse straight hair that’s trapped against the surface of the skin. Therefore, you will need to take a clean towel and submerge it in warm water.  Wring out the excess water, and then place the towel on your face.  The towel should be covering both the face and neck.  This will loosen up the facial hair by straightening them as well as opening the facial pores.  This process will help stop razor bumps from forming.

2. Sharp razor.  After multiple uses, razors become dull and can cause excessive damage to the skin.  Disposable razors should not be used more than 7 days.  After every use, a razor begins to dull and can become clogged with ha in it.  It is also important to note that a razor can become rusty and harbor bacteria.  Using a rusted razor can cause tetanus.  Therefore, it is essential that a new razor be obtained regularly to avoid cuts, diseases, mishaps, and the formation of razor bumps.

3. Exfoliation.  As your skin constantly regenerates through cell reproduction, exfoliation is key to preventing ingrown hairs.  When hair recoils into the surface of the skin, it causes irritation.  The skin will begin to regenerate over the facial hair causing the appearance of razor bumps.  Therefore, exfoliation with a clean facial buff, in a circular motion in the shaven areas will cause the hairs to release from the skin.  Exfoliation will also remove the unwanted skin covering the hair thus preventing razor bumps and allowing the hair to grow outward.

4.  Cleansing regularly.  Dermatologists recommend that you wash your face twice daily.  The best times to wash your face are early mornings and before bed.  Throughout the course of the day, our skin goes through a lot.  Skin collects dirt and pores become clogged due to daily activities.  Cleaning the skin will open the pores and flush out harmful dirt and bacteria causing irritation.  To protect and preserve your skin from razor bumps, use a cleanser that will leave your skin refreshed.

5.  Quality skin care products.  Skin comes in various types from very oily, to very dry, and any combination in between. Skin can also be very sensitive which tends to cause outbreaks with excessive razor strokes across the face.  The use of quality skin care products including a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer help to leave your skin looking fresh, feeling clean and rejuvenated.  The use of the appropriate products for your skin type will help to replenish the skin with nutrients and leave it feeling healthy and looking great.
