(ThyBlackMan.com) Okay Justin Timberlake is all grown up or in the words of one of the brothers Debarge “I’m a man baby, a grown man.” Well not exactly, but at the ripe old age of 18 I’m sure many of his screaming and adoring fans think so.
Since busting onto the scene when he was discovered by his manager Scooter Brauan after coming across his videos on YouTube, the 18 year old Justin Bieber has brought us hit after hit. His debut Extended Play, was released in November 2009, and was certified platinum in the United States. He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
Just a few years ago Justin Bieber was an average teenager living his day to day life in London, Ontario. But today he is currently one of the world’s
biggest pop stars in the entertainment industry today.
Justin Bieber is so popular that some have tagged him as the next Justin Timberlake. Yes you read right. Justin Bieber has been called the next Justin Timberlake. This has caused me to wonder if there is really any comparison.
Well let’s make a few comparisons between the two to see.
Justin Bieber started out as a virtually unknown, talent kid who was discovered on YouTube like so many other entertainers. Justin Timberlake had previous exposure during his stint on Walt Disney’s the New Mickey Mouse Club. Timberlake went on to join the boy band N’Sync.
Both Justins have dated superstar celebrities. Justin Bieber has had a long and very public relationship with the singer and actress Selena Gomez. Justin Timberlake dated Britney Spears for awhile. Both met while working on The Mickey Mouse Club. Many thought that was a relationship that would never end.
As we all know there is no comparison to Selena and Britney. One is still wholesome and has yet to fall into the negative trap of entertainment and the other has had her share of problems.
In terms of popularity I think that Justin Bieber has it hands down and stands on his own. As of November 2012, Justin Bieber’s Twitter account (@justinbieber) was ranked as the second most popular celebrity account with over 30 million followers. This was behind the pop singer, Lady Gaga who held over 31 million followers. Justin Bieber is so popular he gains one new follower every other second. So the statement that Justin Bieber is the new Justin T. leaves something to be desired.
Personally the only likeness I see between Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake are two white guys that are fairly talented, with decent voices that were blessed to be discovered.
