(ThyBlackMan.com) LeBron James won his first NBA championship last night as the Miami Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games. James was the MVP of The Finals and for the time being silenced many of his critics who range from Cleveland to anywhere a basketball can be bounced.
Anything that you read or hear from any of James’ detractors is pretty much sour grapes at this point.
That bitter taste in the mouths of Cleveland Cavaliers fans has resurfaced almost two years after James’ “Decision” to leave Ohio for South Beach. Whether you were for or against James – this day was coming, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, whose statements resembled those of a jilted lover/slave master in the wake of James’ departure would add that his Cavs would win a title before James.
Now that LeBron James has an NBA title, should winning back some of his fan base be his next target?
If you ask why people dislike LeBron James the answer is almost universal, I don’t like what he did to Cleveland. I feel that the ESPN driven Decision program was over the top but at the same time this was an unprecedented event for an athlete of his stature. Trust me if Michael Jordan would’ve ever made it to that point as a Chicago Bull with the potential of leaving, it would have been bigger.

LBJ said he left because he wanted to be with friends. Not because he hated Gilbert or thought Cleveland only had untalented players. Its like James said in the end he wants to be were he is happy. Cleveland is a depressing city. Its practically in Canada.
Actually Dan Gilbert did not originally sign Drew Gooden. Drew Gooden was acquired on July 23, 2004 after the famous Carlos Boozer controversy. Boozer left to Utah, because Cleveland did not have money in the salary cap. Big Z took all the money. On February 21, 2008 Drew Gooden was traded. Making 7.6 million a year, and being a 4th round pick Gooden was in his prime. Considering the fact he was also picking up all the slack Big Z left. Since Big Z was slow, and after having numerous surgeries.
Facts are facts. It was not a complete season. That ring and championship should not be considered a real championship. Any historian will agree as with the 1998-99 NBA Season that Championship will have an Astrix. Look at the end result on both series 4-1. If I was Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and the rest of the talented members of the Thunder I would not want that Astrix Championship. Kobe left in the first round. And, Kobe is the only player who could even be compared to Micheal Jordan, & Dr. Jay. Sometimes how a player destroys himself is sad James had all the potential… AND LAST IF YOU NOTICE HE WON HIS “NBA CHAMPIONSHIP” ON THE FIRST SEASON HE PLAYED WITHOUT Zydrunas Ilgauskas. That guy was garbage why would Lebron James want to play with him for 5 more years. And, at price tag of 11 million a year. James dug his own hole just get the facts correct.
Finally I don’t watch basketball to destroy peoples lives. I like hard facts. I like The Truth. Facts are the reason basketball has integrity. Lets try to keep it that way so the youth can continue this great sport with integrity. We all know David Stern should be removed from his position, because he is making the sport of basketball a joke. F.Y.I. Stern is a 100% there for the money. As for James brother get a real championship before you compare yourself to M.J.
You stated …”Curt Flood sacrificed his career for players like Lebron James to test their worth as free agents regardless of how Lebron James chose to handle it.” …People tend to forget this, or what Oscar Robinson sacrificed to achieve free agency in the NBA.
Perhaps this is ONE of the reason why Oscar is a stanch defender of Lebron James.
The following was posted on the other post by Donald Suggs:
“Curious as to why his decision was a mistake or done in bad taste or what ever the narrative the media chose to brain wash some into believing. I mean outside of Cleveland the dislike is irrational as it is an indication of the anti-African hatred that pervades this country. Even the self hate from knee-grows appear even more pathetic than the psychological derangement exhibited by so many non Africans. For me the only wrong he did was trying to prove to people whose opinions don’t matter that they in fact do. He learned from this and is now in a better place, at least compared to last year.
There are people who use the decision as basis for their hate, but cannot and have t no RATIONAL reasons or point to show that even that television show that raised over 2 million dollars for a boys and girls club is meriting the anger that ensued. I believe Lebron was right in saying the people who hated him can now go back to living the lives they have. Sad and pathetic.”
Should we include RICHARD P FERRY’s attempt to move the goal post, now that Lebron has won a ring? An asterix? WHAT WILL THEY THINK OF NEXT?
I THINK LEBRON JAMES HATE HIMSELF MORE THAN ANYBODY HATES LEBRON JAMES… WHY? Because he knows what it was like to grow up poor, and he dug himself in to deep and can’t help his own community’s like he use when Gordon Gund was owner, and James was rookie and sophomore.
SORRY I MADE MISTAKE
First Dan Gilbert became majority owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers in March of 2005, which he purchased because he could not buy his home team the Detroit Pistons. And I am sure he was not going to be able to buy the Pacers. Of the seven season you write about Gilbert was only majority owner for five seasons of the Cavaliers with Mr. James. 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10. Regardless of what your perception is of talent James got who he wanted. James was the one who requested Zydrunas Ilgauskas be sign July 12, 2005 to a contract extension worth over $55 million over 5 years. Quoting Lebron James in 2005 “He will get his contract”. We need to quit blaming people, all of us. As for James I still think that ring should have a big diamond of Astrix. Lebron needs to quit disrespecting NBA Legends ideally Micheal Jordan. And get a real ring by playing the whole season. Jordan would have three rings by now and retired. Real Rings not that Astrix ring James got.

Good job. I guess the world will have to find someone else to put under the microscope.
