(ThyBlackMan.com) Women in the industry of music have it hard these days. Either they will bare it all or choose to be a one-hit wonder. Two women in music today command respect, sing what they want, and put it down on the microphone for their fans. Adele and Lady Gaga should be in your discography. Each of these ladies share one commonality, they can sing their hearts out and have the stories to back it up.
Adele (Adele Laurie Blue Adkins) is a storyteller. She has a strong voice, pronounces words with a reverence, and holds a note like a consummate professional. The full-figure singer had surgery to save her voice earlier this year and is sitting at the top of the world now. Born in the late eighties, Adele possesses a gift and wisdom in her music like no artist in the 21st century. The Grammy award winning singer should feel very blessed that her friend posted a couple of her songs on MySpace, back in the day.
Today, Adele has reached the pinnacle of success with two albums under her belt since that time. Debuting 19, in 2006, her second album 21, earned 6 Grammy nominations. If that is not enough, both of her albums feature different styles of music, and her voice is mesmerizing. Both of Adele’s albums have reached platinum status and then some globally.
Adele has held her own and stood her ground in music, by showing casing her wide range in her knowledge of the art form. Her voice is soulful, sultry, loud, and full of emotion. There is a message in every song that she sings, and she stated on the Grammy Awards this year that her next album would not be negative in regard to love. However, it does not matter what she sings as long as she still can, and is healthy. The next lady who is staking claim in the game of music will be around for a long time too.
Lady Gaga (Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) actually calls her fans, “monsters.”
A movement has to be going on with this artist, and it seems that everyone will always have an opinion about it. Lady Gaga is from New York, and dropped out of school to further her musical career. She made good on her decision, because she is one of the biggest selling music artists in this era. Known for her flamboyancy, Lady Gaga, has been compared to Madonna, but has gone much further in her efforts to be known by her own name.
Lady Gaga debuted in 2008, with her album Fame, and received rave reviews. She too has not looked back since coming out on the scene. Her voice is very strong, and she is a storyteller as well. Not only does she tell stories that are personal, Lady Gaga refuses to succumb to society’s ideology of having a 9 to 5 to make it. The 25-year old singer says on one of her songs that she was born this way. Lady Gaga supports the LGBT movement, and believes that it is important to express individuality on a daily basis. Through her musical genius she has mastered being in control of your own life and career at a young age. She has a long way to go, but it looks like Lady Gaga has it all together when it comes to going inside the booth and belting out pop, rock, and alternative jams.
The singer and song writer is gearing up for her next tour and will be singing songs from her album, Born this Way. Lady Gaga recently sat down with Oprah Winfrey to discuss where she is internally and the talk show host stated that the young singer was well beyond her years.
There has to be a formula that both of these women were given to succeed in an industry that is dominated by males and endless rules. Regardless, Adele and Lady Gaga are the truth and musical forces to be reckoned with today. Start your career in music with one of these online musical schools. Definitely get one of their albums and turn your speakers up; you might just be surprised.
