(ThyBlackMan.com) The pop music scene has been on lock down for some years now, and for those who want to get in, they will have to wait their turn. There is Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady GaGa, Britney Spears, and Katy Perry who have solidified their dominant roles in the genre. However, only two of these ladies are of African American descent. Do your research and I am quite sure you will know who they are and what they mean to the music business.

These two brown-skinned divas are well on their way to becoming music legends literally speaking. On the other hand, some might say that one of these ladies needs a little polishing. Back in the day, you had to have a mentor to help you manifest your dream in the business. My question is where are all of the female mentors in the game right now, to help usher in the next wave of  talent? I am going to pretend that I am living in that world right now, and Beyonce has taken on Rihanna as her mentee –aka- prodigy in the making.

As a successful artist in her own right, Beyonce has garnished an array of accolades before the age of thirty-five. Rihanna has done the same, but has a while to develop the level of maturity that Beyonce has acquired in her career. Years ago, it seemed from a distance (I was born in the seventies) that people like Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, Suzanne Depasse, and Tina Turner were the standard when it came to how you conducted yourself in public and with your business affairs. In my opinion I think that Rihanna could learn a lot from Mrs. Knowles-Carter.

They both started out in the industry at young ages. They both come from protective family backgrounds.  Individually they came in to the industry and turned heads and then some. Today, they can both pack any stadium in the world, two times over. However when you look at Rihanna on stage, in the press, and listen to her music, I am adamant that she deeds a mentor.

With her highly publicized career and relationship to Chris Brown, which was a complete media circus, someone needs to take her by the hand, and say chill out (you got this). I am saying this, because if they don’t, Rihanna might just be the next victim who self-destructs and leaves this earth before her time. Remember money, fashion, people, and things are not everything. We all must be concerned for our souls and make sure that they are healthy.

Lately, the media has been reporting that Rihanna and her ex-boyfriend, who was convicted of physical violence against her, are speaking to each other again. For some reason, I just do not believe that Beyonce would have talked with Chris Brown again (she is too smart for that) or created music with him again. Rihanna, in my heart, I believe is calling out for attention, love, and companionship.

Beyonce has confessed that she believes in GOD, she even attends church inHoustonwhen she comes back to visit from time to time. I believe that her successful marriage, birth of a baby, and strong sense of self could rub off on Rihanna in a major way, and change her in to something that we have never seen before.  What I have come to realize when thinking about Beyonce mentoring Rihanna, is that she would take on her project (as a mentor) with determination, persistence.

When I think of Rihanna, I believe that she would benefit from this relationship and gain more self-love. I believe that Beyonce’s influence would rub off on her in a special way. And, in turn we would see two women come together to help each other in their personal journey’s and gain a wealth of knowledge in the process. No one can do anything alone. We all need guidance from time to time. My motto, reach out and give back!
