(ThyBlackMan.com) With all due respect, to, Black History month, the month of March, shall establish the first Black Future Month, but not by lip service.
By action, we can establish and inspire betterment for struggling
blacks everywhere. WE CAN DO THIS!
The San Francisco 49ers announcement of, the $1 Billion stadium deal
set to break ground in July 2012 in Santa Clara County, has me
shouting, “Hold the phone!”
Bank of America, US Bank, Goldman Sachs and the NFL, agreed to finance
this new San Francisco 49er stadium. Concerned blacks should stand up in the month of March. Simply, march into the Third Street Bank of America and
respectfully announce, YOU ARE CLOSING YOUR ACCOUNT in protest of this
deal.
Struggling Blacks everywhere should feel stabbed in the back by this
possible move because that is what it is doing. There is no legitimate
reason on record, for the 49ers to leave, unless you believe the
reasons of (1) “Traffic” (2) “Closer to the Santa Clara
office” and get this, (3) Candlestick Point “Does not meet the
needs of the 49ers.” The team has sold out every regular season game
(65,000) for the past thirty years; what “Needs.”
To establish the first, “Black Future Month”, we must first, fight
economic injustice in the San Francisco Bayview Hunter Point area. San
Francisco officials, the 49ers, and the NFL are neglecting one of the
great cities of the world. With the help of three major banks, their
shenanigans are unacceptable. Millions of dollars in needed community
business opportunities and jobs are at stake, but there is one other
more important aspect.
History of professional football says the league and all connected owe
all blacks a minimum duty of respect. Black employees, past and
present, have contributed to making the National Football League
become king of sports in America.
As reported, the NFL has agreed to loan the team $200 million, to go
alone with another $850 million in funding secured by this agreement
with three banks mentioned and Santa Clara officials, for the new
stadium. Again I say, hold the phone and shame on the NFL.
The San Francisco 49ers and the NFL leaving an area of San Francisco,
populated by a large number of struggling black residents and
struggling minority owned businesses, says, “We don’t care anymore
about struggling blacks.”
The starting point for Black Future must send another response. With
full knowledge of how hard, it is to get a major bank to set up in any
depressed areas, a respectful and quiet protest against the 49ers, and
the NFL will begin in March 2012 by closing your account(s) at the
Third Street branch of the Bank of America.
Caution: Hollow promises will be made to appease those most negatively
affected. To that, the official position shall be thanks but no
thanks; we want the 49ers to stay.

I’m not surprised by the announcement. The problems over there in Frisco are the exact same ones here in The ATL where I live.
Here in Atlanta, the NFL Atlanta’s owner, Arthur Blank(founder & CEO of HOME DEPOT) wants to build a new DOMED stadium in the downtown area, close to where the Georgia Dome(The Falcon’s present home) sits. The “problem” is that there’s no more room in the present location to build the new one in its place.
Folks around here are wondering why Blank wants another domed stadium. The Georgia Dome was completed in the early 1990’s, so it isn’t
exactly “ancient” like say Lambeau Field up in The Land of the Cheese Heads (Green Bay).
Arthur Blank wants the new stadium so Atlanta can HOST a Super Bowl in the very near future. It seems the NFL won’t allow a city to host one of those mega-sized sports events in any stadium more than a decade old. So, actually, Blank is looking for a BIG PAY DAY by getting the Super Bowl event here in The ATL.
(Somebody forgot to tell the Falcons owner that it HELPS if the HOME team gets to the Big Dance, in the same year of the S.B., but that’s another commentary…..)
Now, across the street from the GD (Northside Drive)there sits a boarded up public housing project and part of the Vine City sub-division.
Vine City is a predominently AFRIKAN American section of the ATL, going back several decades.
This section is also well connected with the HBCU complex several blocks to the southeast. Morris Brown College, Clark-Atlanta University, Spelman College and Morehouse College are all in the vicinity of a few miles to the Dome, as well.
The present GD seats around 90,000. But the new staduim will only LESS than 80,000, as Blank wants to add LUXURY Suits on the Top tier of the Stadium.
Ticket prizes, both season & gameday, WILL go up, of course, to offset some of the cost of building the new staduim. And everyone around Town KNOWS that Blank’s (being the shrewd businessman he is) gonna spend as LESS of HIS own “cheese” as possible. He wants most of it to come out of Public money.
With ALL professional sports franchise owners,
“ENOUGH is NEVER Enough”
They are always trying to figure out ways to make even MORE cheedar than what they have. The only thing STOPPING them is The PEOPLE of the communities & fans.
So, I say to U Brothers & Sisters out there in the Bay Area, BATTLE those GREEDY Locusts ANY WAY U CAN……
IF the 49ers’ Owner gets want he wants, make DAMN SURE it costs him something out HIS pocket to do it !
