(ThyBlackMan.com) It doesn’t pay to talk too much! I’m sure Roland Martin is feeling that now. Sure I can’t even follow him on twitter because he talks….well tweets too much. But I’m still outraged at the nature of the suspension. As I hear Roland Martin was suspended from CNN for making some stupid comment on twitter. If I might add: He always does. What outrages me is that some group chose to target “this tweet” and fight against it.
We all know Roland talks too much and we know that twitter is one of the most popular…..well it’s the hottest thing since sliced bread! That’s If you have a lot to say. The fact that Roland, very widely known for being an opinionated journalist can be reprimanded over some twitter ish, that’s ridiculous to me. but the outrage goes further, not only does it seem to be a violation of free speech, but this very event, the fact that “this issue” is rising to be a national conflict is a sign of a nation divided.
It’s not a matter of me ABSOLUTELY NOT believing that you could be “born this way”. It’s the fact that someone’s livelihood can be threatened by a group choosing to target such menial words (on a social network).
If something like this can happen it just signifies the beginning of a nation even more divided. Homosexuality should not be promoted. Do not tell your kid’s it’s ok. If they grow up to be a skilled professional in whatever industry and become offended by a remark about their sexuality it affects their psyche and their service. Kid’s need sound knowledge and less confusion that is already available.
GAY is not right and it’s definitely not right when it begins to effect the communication of a nation. If this is continually promoted, America will become even more divided into different sects and a house divided cannot stand. In the good fashion of Roland Martin; speak your own mind regardless of what anyone else thinks or says. He is a commentator for GOD sake!!
I’m not saying we should personally attack or disrespect anyone, but we all have a right to free speech. CNN is a Major news network and if one group can tear it apart for what they say, what else can they take down? CNN was wrong for suspending Roland Martin. By doing that they gave that one group way too much power. If this group (GLAD) strongly taking their rights means infringing on those of others then they should not have any at all, and it’s time for the just to speak up!

Great Article! I totally agree!
Ok all I’m hearing from you are big words so many words that go above and beyond and deviate from what I ACTUALLY said. I never said you called me a “bad” name. African-American is not a bad name. Where do you get that from and what do you think about yourself?
1.)you choose to remain anonymous over the internet
2.)you say it’s “unpleasant” talk to me, but choose to honor my coversation with a rather Lengthy response.
3.) you’re talking about being marched off to a gas chamber.
Now I could go on, but I think you’ve been through too much. I’m sorry that you hold on to the fact that you grew up in a “Horrible place” but you need to move on with the progressive excellence of your own life. You have the opportunity to make a better way NOW!
Homosexuality defies the logic and balance of human nature. It is not my place to judge anyone, like you continously seem to do. please Stop trying to put me or anyone else in a box. The balance we place in faith has tangible order, The contingincies life do not. Don’t hold on to fallacy or you will always fail! The only common enemy of humanity is failure to execute wisdom and operate in the progressiveness of authentic purpose
In the horrible place where I grew up, most white people held that the “darker races” were by definition lazy, stupid, “morally unhygienic” and generally too lacking in reason and intellect to meet the basic qualifying standards of humanity. This was an article of faith among them. And to them, there was no difference between an article of faith and an empirical fact.
You are like them. For how could you know that homosexuality is a “lifestyle choice,” like any other? You can’t, of course. Unless you are a homosexual. It is an article of faith, not a fact. I called you 3 (bad?) names (I wasn’t aware that “African-American” was considered a bad name). You smilingly condemn roughly one out of 10 human beings. You suffer so much at the hands of the immoral name-calling minority.
Those same people in the horrible place where I grew up agreed with you that homosexuality was bad, immoral and an offensive aberration, and thus a source of fear and a target for condemnation. From the age of 5 onward, I bore the taunts, punches, kicks and smacks to prove it. There was an incident with a small pocket knife once; I had to hide my wound, lest my parents find out they had a sissy for a boy. Home life is always such a warm and loving experience for homosexual children.
You may excuse yourself by claiming you do not promote bullying or violence. But you do, in the same way Roland Martin does, insidiously, and cloaked in self-righteousness. And you do judge. To say that homosexuality is wrong is a judgment.
Unlike the tribes with which you identify (Christians, African-Americans, homophobes, women with bad hair), homosexuals are a mostly peaceful bunch. In the short run, that’s good for haters like you. Keep on hating. In the long run, I fear, it means our common enemy will win, and we will be marched off together to the gas chambers.
If it comes to that–thanks largely to the enlightenment you have provided in the debate over Roland Martin’s hate and lies–I will not hold your hand. It is not “nice to interact with you.” It is, typically, unpleasant.
Hi Aries! Nice to interact with you. First of All I am not defending Roland Martin what He said was dumb and coarse. There is also no contest of “If”. This is the issue I am addressing, period. Homosexuality is not a condition of birth such as race, it is a personal lifestyle choice. If their we’re any racist statements using the N-word, this conversation would be of a totally different context.
Plainly speaking, Gay is not a healthy or proverbial way of life. You know it and I know it. So this issue should not have a any influence in American media AT ALL! but I’m not here to judge anyone. Not in one sentence in this article is it mentioned that judging, bullying, or name calling anyone is ok. but YOU called me 3 names within the first sentence of your statement. So please take a look in the mirror before you put your shame on me.
Surprise. One African-American hater homophobe defending another.
Do you think if the Tweeter had been, say, tossing out “jokes” using the N-word, you’d hold the same view?
The hypocricy of Roland Martin’s position, in particular, is that not even a month ago, he was going on and on about Newt Gingrich’s racist “coded language,” insisting that “janitor” meant black man and “food stamp nation” meant black folk on welfare. I happen to agree with Martin on that. But then, when he’s called on the carpet for–jokingly–telling followers to “smack the ish” out of any man “hyped” by a male underwear ad, he cries foul. I’m sorry. Anyone so sensitive to the harm even seemingly innocuous language can do certainly knows what he is saying when he laughingly reinforces the tendency among sexually threatened men to brutalize homosexuals. Shame on you.
