(ThyBlackMan.com) This week, we released the results of a Your Black World Survey, in which it was determined that the majority of black respondents (56.9 percent) felt that President Obama should have spoken up on behalf of the late Troy Davis. Many throughout the world, including former FBI Director William Sessions and former President Jimmy Carter, felt the execution to be unjust. President Obama could have called for a federal investigation into the execution, which would have kept Davis alive to this day. Instead, he allowed America to humiliate itself on the world stage by killing a citizen who likely did not commit the crime for which he was being put to death.

Unfortunately, having a doctorate is no assurance that the opinions proffered are truth, are accurate or are without agenda. If you knew the law, you’d know that the President has no power to interfere in Georgia. Had he done so, there would be gnashing of teeth over his overreaching his authority. My understanding is that even Governor Deal had no clout. What should be noted is that you and your ilk should spend a lot more time getting the President the level of support he needs for the changes you claim to want. Blacks don’t vote in midterms, and that is what is banked on by the right. Thoughts on that strategy? I am so glad you don’t speak for me. BTW, as a conservative liberal, I resent your suggestion that I am a whore.
” Dr.Boyce Watkins The Scholar for Black America”??
BWA HAHAHAHAHAHA
This was a opinion piece based on not one fact. Why lie Boyce? You have no idea what President Obama did behind the scenes, you have absolutely no confirmation of your assertions whatsoever. Maybe if you had any contacts whatsoever, you would be aware of what the President did….alas, you aren’t. Secondly, President Obama was asked a question about Skip Gates…he never made one comment about Skip Gates prior to the question asked of him during a press conference…but don’t let facts stand in the way of a good bash, its not like the teapublicans do, why should you be any different? I’m glad the President doesn’t pay any attention to you asanine fools that purport to speak for black people but don’t give a damn about black people.
@Black Beauty, I am not sure the point of your comment. This whole website has articles around all of those issues that you talk about.
Have you read those or are you just singling out Watkins?
Secondly, I am not sure if you are making the correct distinction between a scholarly journal article and a commentary piece. This is the latter not the former.
So you lost me a bit with your tirade.
Great analysis. I agree with you, Dr Watkins. Could it be that he has the “minority syndrome” where he feels embarrassed or uncomfortable to be seen, especially by the majority, as helping his “own kind”?
Once again, you mislead, and incit with your thoughtless titles to your commentaries!
Who used those words?
Who are the “some”?
Seems to me it is YOU who made the choice to actually title your post with something so stupid.
And we wonder why………. even the so called “scholars” fall into the “let me incite/bring attention to me to get ahead so I can be invited to speak on a talk/news show with other speakers!
Can you speak on the importance of education?
The importance of parenting and taking care of ones children?
The importance of having your own business/working for yourself?
The importance of good health, eating habits, check ups?
Stop the crap!
Another great article Dr. Watkins
