(ThyBlackMan.com) Satan had been showing a pattern of attacking me. I had gradually become very angry at some things. Most of my anger was aimed at my husband and in our marriage of twelve years.
I began to seek a way to combat this spiritual attack. I wanted to write a letter to my husband and tell him why I was angry. I knew doing this would only cause him anger and not wanting that I chose to write the letter to God. I told God how angry I was and why. I put this letter away for about two weeks. After allowing God to work on my heart during this time, I reread the letter. I was amazed how much God had changed my heart. I very much wanted to throw this letter away, but realized I could write this article and help others.
Now, three weeks after first writing it, I have opened the letter and reread it, only this time I dare not finish the entire letter. My heart jumped with fear when I saw how filthy and sinful the thoughts in my heart were.
One reason I am fearful to reread it is because I am opening my mind again to thoughts that were obviously from the Devil. I refuse to put myself in the position for sinful thoughts to enter my mind.
The Bible says, II Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
The minute these thoughts come into our minds we should cast them far away. Casting is like throwing a piece of trash away, a quick toss into the garbage and it’s gone. We need to do that with thoughts that are sinful.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Let this verse be your guide as to what type of thoughts you should allow yourself to dwell on. Even those of us who don’t struggle with dwelling on wrong thoughts, still have minds of flesh and we should study ourselves to see if our thoughts are of virtue and praise.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
When your mind is so full of sin that it over runs your thinking, use the Bible to combat the sin. Memorize scripture and fill your mind with God’s word. As quoted in Hebrews 4:12, the word of God is a weapon.
The Bible says that Jesus Christ will return when the world is as it was when Noah lived and God chose to destroy the earth. Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. We know from Genesis 6:5 the people that lived in the days of Noah had wicked minds. Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
As Christians, we do not want to be like the people that God destroyed by the flood or even be close to being like them. We can have renewed minds through Christ. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
