(ThyBlackMan.com) They say the Devil’s greatest trick is to make people think he doesn’t exist. The media’s biggest scam has been to make us forget that in the Oval Office, right now, a Black man sits.
Remember the hope and joy that flooded us all, not just African Americans, but all Americans who voted for him, and even many who did not, the day he came to office? What happened to it? Where did it go? Why the long, sad faces? We are all so so critical, or defensive, of what he has, or has not, done. Obama will not be president forever, people! Don’t let this precious time slip by and then look back with regret that we did not savor the moment we were in power, we were empowered to each climb our own rugged peaks and be whatever it is that we really want to be.
Now is the time to stand tall. Now is the time to put your shoulder to the wheel. There is nothing, nothing, you cannot do, nothing your children cannot aspire to. Yes, the battle is not yet won. Yes, there is work to be done. But the greatest thing that our Black Commander-in-Chief can do is stay Black and keep living with his family in the White House.
Yes, America has a race problem, and a greed problem, and an education problem. But who do you think is going to solve them, if not us? Isn’t it better to light a thousand candles than just curse the darkness, especially now, now that we have a beautiful Black family leading this nation?
People, we might not agree with all his policies, and we certainly should oppose and lobby against those we dislike, but please take the time to smell the coffee. Savor these years when one of our peers sits and reigns over all the land. We are living in the time of a Black President! Some people don’t like that. But that is their problem, not ours. They are just going to have to get over it. Never, ever, will I let them rain on my parade. Ignore them. Listen to the sweet, sweet music in the air telling us, if we reach for the sky, the stars will be ours!

I think the reason for the Republican voter suppression tactics is because the percentage of the population up made of uneducated whites has shrunken to the point where they cannot possibly win a national election without cheating. But each election cycles as that slice shrinks more and more, the voter suppression becomes more frantic and blatant. They say Ron Paul is not likely to run on a third party because that would damage his son, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky’s standing. Note he never criticizes Romney and vice versa. The Republican establishment does not want him to leave and he wants to pass the torch on to his son.
Ron Paul could concievably run on a third party ticket and cause his black supporters to waste there votes. The greater the number people that go to the polls and vote, the more likely a liberal candidate will be elected to fill the open state government offices, as well as the US Congress and Senate seats. There is a reason for the voter suppression laws in the republican controled states.
Thanks, Nicholas. You might not have anything to worry about. The fact that there are racist elements in the Republican coalition frightens the majority of Americans, and so whoever gets the nomination will have a very, very hard time beating Obama. Ron Paul, because his policy positions on the war and the economy are substantively much different than everyone else’s, might conceivably give Obama a run for his money. But the establishment and its media are dead set against him.
By the way I just saw the movie, In the Heat of the Night, starring Sidney Poitier. And I could not help but notice that Poitier’s role in the film is eerily similar to the role Obama finds himself in today.
I hear far too many blacks complaining that “Obama has done nothing for black people”, so why waste my time voteing for him? The President gets my support, for reasons other then him being Black, but what do you say to those who can’t see beyond them not recieving some personal and immediate gain as a reason to go to the poll and vote. So many a blacks post articles and comments on this site that suggest Ron Paul is the answer to their interests.
