(ThyBlackMan.com) Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, slammed the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) Wednesday. “My campaign, and the entire freedom movement, would not be as strong as they are today without a free Internet,” Ron Paul said in a post on his Facebook page.

Ron Paul added that “that’s just one of the reasons why the establishment hopes to censor it with SOPA and PIPA.”   SOPA and the Protect Internet Privacy Act (PIPA) provoked a public outrage on the Internet Wednesday. Even Google and Facebook espoused a similar stance on SOPA and PIPA as concern over how the bills would impact the Internet overcame the normally competitive relationship.

“The Internet is the most powerful tool we have for creating a more open and connected world. We can’t let poorly thought out laws get in the way of the Internet’s development. Facebook opposes SOPA and PIPA, and we will continue to oppose any laws that will hurt the internet,” Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post Wednesday.

Google made its disgust clear with a censored image of its Google logo.   According to The Los Angeles Times, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Representatives Lee Terry (R-NB) and Ben Quayle (R-AZ) have warmed up to Ron Paul’s anti-SOPA stance. The former co-sponsors of the bills, withdrew their names Wednesday.

Mr. Rubio posited in a Facebook post that he has “heard legitimate concerns about the impact the bill could have on access to the Internet and about a potentially unreasonable expansion of the federal government’s power to the impact the Internet.”

At the end of his Facebook post, Ron Paul encouraged his supporters to take a stand against SOPA and PIPA. “I’m proud to see so many taking a stand today. Contact your representative and senators and tell them to oppose these disastrous bills,” Ron Paul wrote.

This week shall tell us alot about Ron Paul. Many of his followers know that the media hasn’t been giving him the spot light. Still no matter what Ron Paul continues. Ron Paul is our only hope to save this great country.
