(ThyBlackMan.com) Since the election of Barak Obama, we have seen the re-emergence of overt hatred in this country. If we must be honest racist whites in America was gearing up for battle when a black man won the White House. They spent 8 years dragging him, and his family. They voted for the current president with a mind to “restore order”, and that was their idea of “Making America Great Again”. The order they seek is white ran everything…blacks and other minorities must know their place. Let them tell it our place is very far beneath them in a world by which we labor voiceless, and they benefit from said labor. It is important to note every white person does not agree with this ideology. However, some may have felt it wasn’t their fight so though they disagreed many remained silent on the racism they know exist.
Charlottesville, and many other unpeaceful rallies, have shown white America that really does this country has a race problem and it will not go away on its own. Meanwhile, black people are forced to understand it seems this country doesn’t understand what we are fighting for until one of their own in killed taking a stance again hatred. We are reminded that our blood was not enough to make America come to a realization that there is, and has always been, a race problem with this country.
How can a nation, that does not acknowledge the truth of its history, heal? How can we mend when there is constantly a threat that “The South Shall Rise Again”? It matters not what part of the country you live in…racism is in every corner. The problem is not just those that would wear the KKK robes, wave a confederate flag, or claim to be neo-Nazis. The issue is those that hold leadership, and power positions that feel as those on the street do. When it’s the police, lawyers, doctors, judges, mayors, governors, members of congress…or the President of the Unites States that act in a manner that screams racist how are we to heal? The people of this country are powerful beyond measure when they choose to stand up. It seems they may be just figuring out this truth as white people with black family members, friends and countrymen choose to stand against the blatant hatred that threatens to destroy this nation.
White America, as we are now seeing in larger numbers, is going to have to fight their own if this nation is to heal. Black people in this country must continue to unify, but if we all stood together on one accord we are not even 20% of the nation’s population. For nation to heal systemic, and overt racism must be stamped out. Everyone does not have to like one another, but they do have to respect the right to live that is due another American citizen regardless of the color of their skin. There is always a chance good will win over evil. However, for this to happen America will have to tell the truth about it’s history.
Those in the South that claim to hold on to heritage through the Confederacy will need to be honest…they are holding on to a time of the enslavement and disenfranchisement of black people. There can be no healing without the truth. This isn’t about passing blame…its about telling the truth. A nation can not come together where there are lies and deceit. America much come to terms with itself, and decide to build a new nation rooted in true freedom and equality. That is a tall order for us where we stand currently…but if America truly takes a stand for “liberty and justice for all” maybe our children can live in a healed United States.

Christian, if you want to heal the divisions in this country the only way will be by reaching out to those you view as “them” and trying to find common interests, then honestly trying to find compromises that everyone can live with on the things that divide you from “them.” Your talk doesn’t even try this. It isn’t the solution, it’s just the problem restated. If you want healing, you have to stop trying to open the wound further.
