(ThyBlackMan.com) Autumn is approaching fast. You might miss the heat of summer, but you’ve got crisp air, hot chocolates and cozy knitted hats and gloves to look forward to. So it’s not all glum. Your wardrobe is going to need an update, though. Here are some of our favorite buys as the autumn months come closer.
Cosy knits
Temperatures will be dropping. This means that you’ll want to wrap up. Nothing beats being snug and warm when it’s gray and cold outside. There are so many lovely knits to choose from. Oversized jumpers in a chunky knit are perfect and will make you look ridiculously cute. Cardigans will cover you up well and some stores now even stock knitted trousers and skirts for the more fashion-forward amongst us.
Scarves
Be snug as a bug in a rug when you face the elements. Scarves will keep your neck warm, of course. But they can also be pulled up to protect your face and ears from biting winds. If the days are still mild, sheer, chemise scarves will provide ample protection. But when the cold air starts nipping at your nose, you’ll want something more heavy duty. Knitted scarves, chunky materials and reals of fabric will layer you up and keep the heat in. There are even scarves now that can double up as blankets once they’re unfolded.
Boots
The ground will be getting slippery with more rain and frost. So you don’t want to be falling over every time you step out of the door. You’ll need some sturdy shoes or boots with a good grip on the soles. It would be a good idea to check out a range of chunky boots to see which ones would be best to keep your feet safe and dry. Slip on ballet pumps or smoking slippers will soon be a no-go too. Your toes would freeze off in them. Closed toe shoes in water resistant materials will tide you over until you can put your sandals and flip flops on again. You can make the look more feminine by pairing your boots with cute dresses.
Hats
Most of your body heat escapes through your head. So keep it covered and keep the heat in. There’s bound to be a style out there that will suit you down to a tee. Berets will give an air of sophisticated chic to your ensemble. Bobble hats are adorable, and beanies add a more urban edge to your look. Try out different hats and find one to reflect your signature style.
Umbrellas
Do umbrellas count? You don’t technically wear them, but they are certainly an essential as the drizzle starts making a regular appearance. Transparent cocoon umbrellas cover your entire torso while ensuring that you can still see where you’re going. Designer brands have signature prints, or if you’re less into labels, a rainbow of colors are available.
Thick socks
You don’t appreciate the comfort of a thick pair of socks until autumn arrives. Knee socks or ankle socks are vital for autumnal comfort. Cream knits and Grey marl cotton will compliment most outfits and also prevent your boots from rubbing. Nobody wants blisters after a walk to the shops. Some designs are more decadent, with lace, ribbons, and bows. So get out shopping and fill up that sock drawer.
