(ThyBlackMan.com) Forty is the start of middle age. Don’t let people tell you that science has progressed and now sixty is the new forty or even the new twenty! This is nonsense, and you might still face a lot of health issues as you approach the halfway point. Most of these are easy to deal with as long as you know the signs. Either, they can be managed or completely cured. Let’s look at some of the common health issues that you might encounter halfway through your life.
Tinnitus
People with tinnitus often claim they are never alone. It’s quite a nice way to look at it until you understand what they are going through. Tinnitus is the name given to a constant ringing in your ear. You can develop it early on in life, particularly if you listen to loud music. However usually, it starts to become a noticeable problem after forty. You might find that the ringing is now so loud that you have difficulty sleeping or ignoring it. You may not be able to hear the TV or people speaking to you. Most people think that tinnitus is just ringing, and your hearing is still as good as it ever was. This is not true at all. Tinnitus is the first sign that you are losing your hearing. However, there are treatments. Some hearing aids for tinnitus treatment block out the sound completely, giving you peace and quiet.
Cancer
Anyone can get cancer, and there have been tragic cases where babies have been born with the disease. However, there is no doubt that the illness becomes more common as you get older. In particular, you have to be careful of different types of the disease. Bowel cancer is rare in younger individuals and far more common as you get older. Signs of bowel cancer can be missed, and that’s why it is recommended people get regular checkups. The earlier you get a diagnosis for cancer, the better the outcome is likely to be. Don’t avoid being checked out because you’re scared it might be bad news. It’s always better to know, and it could save your life.
High Cholesterol
When you’re young, you might have been able to eat anything. You could have lived on doughnuts for two weeks, and apart from some questionable bowel movements, you would have been fine. When you get older, the situation isn’t quite so simple. You need to be more careful about your diet and make sure you have a few healthy foods in your weekly shop. Try to avoid eating too many foods that push up your cholesterol like red meats. A steak now and then won’t harm you, but you shouldn’t be eating one every week. The key is making sure you get a balanced diet.
High Blood Pressure
Finally, high blood pressure can be dangerous when you reach a certain age and can lead to other health problems. It can be caused by numerous problems, but it is often associated with a stressful lifestyle. If you are hitting forty, you do need to find more ways to relax. That might be retreating into your man cave, or heading to the golf course for a couple of holes.
