Prison born-incarcerated infants.

(ThyBlackMan.com) Not long ago, I visited an old friend of mine. He invited me to his house to discuss the possibility of me ghost writing a book about his life. His house was immaculately pristine. Almost, as if no one lived there. There were no dishes in the sink or in the drain. The floor was covered with a lint-less carpet. I immediately kicked off my loafers. He led me to a cushiony sofa. I sat.

He told me that he recently was released from prison. That explains the compulsive organization, militarized structure, and abnormal orderliness, I mused. He also informed me that he was born in prison, the son of a convicted madam/prostitute. He said while his mother served a three year sentence, he was confined to a prison nursery. When she was finally paroled; he was released, too. Wow, I thought. His story reminded me of a Donald Goines’ book, Whoreson, as he summarized his sordid past. Later that day, I decided to delve into the lopsided, justice system.

American prisons have been synonymous to Black life since its inception in the early 1800’s, in light of the rapidly waning institution of American slavery. Millions of uneducated African-Americans were blindly milling about in a futile attempt to make some sort of sense of living in a land without the basic necessities required to sustain one’s existence. Many men, as expected, turned to crime. Many men, as expected, went to prison. Before long, modern day slavery was a booming enterprise.

I’ve been to prison. Its one of those places you NEVER forget. Your prison number is engraved in your brain forever. The place doesn’t blackfather-jailtime-and-kids-2015have any hands, but it steals your spirit. It doesn’t have a voice; but it tells you today will be the same as yesterday; and tomorrow won’t be any different. Your cell mates are your former slave mates; and some prison owners are former plantation owners.

In fact, in 1852, San Quentin was the first for-profit prison. A century or so later, Reagan/Bush started their war on drugs. As a desired result, the privatization of prisons became a billion dollar industry with the descendants of displaced and disenfranchised slaves doing most of the labor. The recidivism rate continued to soar because genuine rehabilitation was counter-productive to the powers that be and their greedy investors. From the time Reagan took office up until 2007, approximately 25,000 African Americans hustlers–per year–became prisoners of this racially motivated civil war.

Once the Black man was removed from the home, his woman became fair game for the perverted pleasures of warmongers and whore mongers. Nowadays, there are more than one million women under the supervision of the US criminal justice system. And, Black women represent over 30% of those incarcerated females. That being said, who are parenting the Black children? Well, it’s only logical that with a mass incarceration of women, some of them are bound to be pregnant.

Therefore, as a beautiful gift to the jailed-mothers-to-be, instead a Trojan Horse for her newborn to swing upon, they have infant jails called prison nurseries. These miniature dorms or cells, are allegedly designed to keep a healthy bond between mother and child. Nine states have these infant institutions: New York, Nebraska, Washington, Ohio, Indiana, South Dakota, Illinois, and West Virginia.

Well, I guess policy makers feel if parents are unable to stay home with their children, why not allow their children to do time with them? According to a few criminal justice think tanks, coupled with prison proponents, many of the Black babies are heading there anyhow.

Despite how you slice this American pie, the majority of incarcerated toddlers are going to be Black. A simpler solution would be for the billionaire prison profiteers to fund programs for the parentless infants. I mean, I think it’s the least they could do. They are enslaving his/her parents.

But, then again, if the rich slavers makers had awarded stipends to their former slaves, there wouldn’t be a genocidal prison epidemic!!!
