(ThyBlackMan.com) The current racial struggles of African Americans cannot be dismissed by a discussion about guns. Nor can this struggle be dismissed with the removal of confederate flags from public property as many in the public sector seen to feel. Starting points, yes; dismissal, no.
If the deaths of those killed leading up to Charleston and the deaths of “the Charleston Nine,” are to have any pragmatic and practical meaning, we as a people “who say” we value freedom and democratic principles must coalesce around a strategy that will produce economic opportunity and eliminate racism, especially when it comes to jobs. It is not enough to have theoretical conversations about racism, which was the cause of the massacre of nine innocent people. Actions should be taken to do something about it; (the black unemployment rate has averaged above 10% nationally for seven years and is double that of the white rate). Fighting to create jobs and economic opportunity for all Americans should be a moral imperative for all of us. Nothing will bring back the lives of those who have gone on. Nevertheless, honoring their deaths with a job creation plan that GIVES ALL WORKING AMERICANS MORE DISPOSAL INCOME and the opportunity to work is the least that we, the living can do.

Having read this, you may ask yourself how should you proceed? What can you do right now? You should e-mail copies of the plan to as many people as you can, and make copies of the plan and present it to your local (city council members), and federal governmental representatives and ask them to take a position on the record by sending you their position in writing. There is no doubt as high unemployment persist, the issue of how to put people back to work will be the number one topic of the presidential campaign. Remember the Bill Clinton quote, “It is the economy stupid.” And if you listen closely to these presidential candidates, not a single one has a plan to create jobs, except the tried and failed plans of infrastructure spending and more tax cuts for the wealthy. Advocating this plan places you on the cutting edge of change.
The Davis Plan is not radical and is mechanically sound; that is, it is doable. Politicians are ambiguous in their official positions when it comes to handing money over to average working people. One official who is a local chairman of the Democratic party even went as far as to say, “Oh no, we cannot give them that much money,” even though it is their money. However, personal consumption expenditures represent 70% of gross domestic product (GDP). In other words, it is almost impossible to have a successful economic recovery without engaging the consumer.
Having removed so much money from the Social Security trust fund, $2.7 to 3.0 trillion dollars or more, federal officials are reluctant to back a plan of repayment even if creates jobs. They don’t want to push money back down to the 99%! You can readily see in that article about Republican presidential candidate Bush that he is advocating “we citizens pay the money back” that was taken from the fund by pushing out the retirement age to 70 years. In essence, Social Security participants would pay 2x’s for the same benefits.
Nevertheless, the fight to make this plan a legislative reality is a fight we should take on and one that we should take to them. There is no greater love we can show for our love ones and friends, both living and dead, when it is said of us, when called upon we stood up for righteousness; that we did not flinch in the fight for economic freedom. They took the money from the Social Security trust fund and they should pay it back. Until this issue is brought to the table and vetted; using our own money (it’s your money because it was and is being, deducted from your wages) to create jobs and economic opportunity will never happen.
