His parents were Dennis Graham, a music enthusiast and Sandi Graham, an educator. His father’s side has been composed of relatives whose natural inclination to music has been his inspiration. Aside from his father, Drake also has uncles who are musicians.
Drake’s Humble Family
Since his mother is a Jewish Canadian, Aubrey attended a Jewish school. His parents separated when he reached the age of five and he was left under the custody of his mother. This explains his journey from a simple lifestyle to an affluent one when he moved to Forrest Hill. He was played to play hockey when he was young. Her mother’s persistence allowed them to triumph over poverty which Drake is constantly proud of. His acting career began when he enrolled in Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. After which he also attended Vaughan Road Academy.
This rapper has experienced the extremities of life. He got constantly bombarded by life’s difficulties but it was good to note that he never gave up. He refused to be manipulated by ill-fate. The Evolution of Musical Career
Drake’s high school was highlighted by meeting a friend’s father who happened to give him a role in a TV show aired specifically for Canada. He was fifteen then. He was able to appear in that sow’s 138 episodes. This stint in television allowed him to help his sick mother and get through the hard times. This opportunity also paved the way for him to polish his musical talents. He had his first mixtape entitled Roof for Improvement. This featured Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz. According to Drake, this mixtape was not much about content but it had something that is pretty straightforward and considered it radio-friendly.
Music continued to be his ticket to fame. Thank Me Later became his first debut album in 2008. The launching of the album in 2010 was attended by about 25,000 spectators where he gave a free concert along with Hanson at the South Street Seaport. Because of this album’s success, he was able to launch his second which was entitled Take Care in 2010. Since then, Drake’s rapping career continued to blossom.
Inspirations
Like any other successful musicians, Drake was able to draw inspiration from different people. His naturally endowed talent for music was further enhanced by his admiration to Jay-Z, Kanye West and Aaliyah. Lil Wayne acted as his mentor and the biggest of all his sources of influences. West was referred to as one famous icon and favorite in hip hop genre. When it comes to giving the best impact in his rapping career, Drake did not hesitate to commend Aaliyah.
