(ThyBlackMan.com) The famous R&B singer Chris Brown was born on May 5 the year 1989 as Christopher Brown in Tappahannock, Virginia. From a very tender age, the singer was drawn to music and dancing. Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin are among his heavy influences. By the age of 11, his talent was clearly visible, and his mother was the first person to notice it. The mother used to hear her son sing beautifully around the house and was amazed by his talent. Finally, she began to encourage him to see local producers to pursue his talent.
Pursuing his dream from an early age
At the age of 13, Chris brown began to visit local producers around his area. He eventually caught the eye of a small production team, which allowed him to record a demo of a few songs. The singer admits that he faced a few difficulties during this time but he was determined to make it through. He finally relocated to New York with his small team since he believed he had better chances of making it there. It was hard for him to move especially since he was still a teen but he loved music and he wanted to do it.
Signing a Record deal
As soon as he got to the big city of New York, Chris Brown did not waste any time. He began looking for labels to sign him in and eventually got a chance to audition for Antonio Reid and Tina Davis of Def Jam records. They were both impressed with his talent but for some reason did not sign him. Shortly after, Davis resigned from the label and became Chris Brown‘s manager. He used his connections to get auditions for the singer in various companies including Atlantic and Warner Bros but eventually Jive signed him.
Releasing albums
In Jive records, the singer spent more than six months recording over 50 songs for his debut album. Even though it was plenty of hard work, his efforts paid off. Eventually 15 songs were picked as the finally songs for his self-titled debut album, with the single ‘Run It’ being the most successful.
After the relative success of his first album, Chris Brown went on to release three more albums ‘Exclusive’, ‘Graffiti’ and ‘Fame’. The latter album became his first number 1 album on the Hot 200. It also earned him his first Grammy awards. He has won several other awards and performed at award shows. In fact, he has often been compared to Michael Jackson due to his talent of singing and dancing.
Other pursuits
Seeing the success of his first album, Chris Brown discovered he also had a talent for acting. His first role as an actor was in a TV movie called ‘Christmas in Washington’ back in 2006. Later on, he made his first appearance in a box-office movie ‘Stomp the Yard’ alongside Ne-Yo, Meagan Good and Columbus Short. This early acting roles paved the way for big roles in hit movies such as ‘Into the Woods’, ‘Takers’ and ‘Think Like a Man’.
