Bernard and Shirley Kinsey have created a collection of African American items that shared the history and cultural importance of the African American race.
Being an organization that supports diversity, Wells Fargo has joined Bernard and Shirley Kinsey in displaying their wonderful artifacts and collections. In collaboration with The Kinsey Family, Wells Fargo is taking part in the journey of the African American’s plight and achievements.

In The First, join Lance Gross as he shares the political triumphs of Hiram Revels, Benjamin Longs and Josiah Walls. All were a group of African Americans to hold office in Congress in the 1800s, shortly after slavery, which was a huge accomplishment. The Kinsey Collection includes a lithograph of these African American Congressmen that laid the path for future black politicians.
Genius surrounds the story of Phyllis Wheatley’s famous book of poetry as recounted by singer and actress Jordin Sparks. Sparks sends us back in time to hear Phyllis’ words. In 1903, Kinsey was so determined to reconnect with her loved one. So much that she mustered the courage to write a letter to President Roosevelt asking for his help. Carrie Kinsey, the relative of Bernard and Shirley Kinsey was the inspiration behind the creation of the Kinsey Collection. This collection now travels the country and has been viewed by over 3 million nationwide.
