(ThyBlackMan.com) Many commentators have pointed out a seemingly strange phenomenon: Over the course of his campaign, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul’s appearances have pulled in enormous crowds. For example, ROn Paul attracted a crowd of 5000 in Illinois, 2700 in Missouri, and well over 1000 in Washington state. His crowds are so large that it is often a problem finding a venue large enough to hold all of his fans. However, the Texas congressman has been unable to translate the size of his rallies into election victories, save for the Virgin Islands caucuses.
In many cases, supporters are so numerous at Ron Paul’s public appearances that they have had to wait outside while the GOP candidate makes his speech. Often the crowds that flock to see the Texas congressman speak have outsize those of his GOP opponents. And yet, Ron Paul is trailing the other candidates in the delegate count and the number of elections won. Given his popularity, something does not add up.
Some pundits have attributed his lack of election wins as election fraud, messy caucuses, or a widespread expectation that Ron Paul will not win, which leads to sloppiness in reporting. One commentator for All Voices pointed out that after Ron Paul won his first caucus in the Virgin Islands last week reporters announced that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney had won. In Maine, the commentator went on, many of votes for Ron Paul were never counted. In Washington state, where Ron Paul drew the largest crowds of the four men involved in the GOP race, hundreds of voters were turned away in Kennewick because of insufficient space capacity in the hotel where voting was conducted.
Most of Ron Paul’s donations are made during his money bombs, with individuals giving small amounts throughout his presidential campaigns. This type of fundraising seem to suggest a broad base of support, rather than a few wealthy supporters. What could the explanation be?
Many of Ron Paul’s supporters are Independents. Because Ron Paul is seeking the Republican nomination, voters interested in casting ballots in his favor would have to register as Republicans the day before a caucus—this may be expecting a lot, given that many of them may never have registered as Republicans before. This means, therefore, that only the most dedicated voters are likely to do so, Red State observes.
Furthermore, by participating in a Republican primary, a voter forfeits the ability to vote in any hotly-contested Democratic primary. Because a certain percentage of Ron Paul’s voters may identify as Liberal Democrats, the inability to vote in a Democratic primary may be an opportunity that a voter is unwilling to forgo.
Ron Paul has enjoyed considerable popularity with young voters. In the crowd that gathered to see the Texas Republican speak in Iowa, supporters were decked out in Urban Outfitters apparel, hipster flannel, and tie dye. The candidate’s non-interventionist stance on foreign policy, as well as his Libertarian views, which emphasize the rights of the individual, appeal to youth voters especially.
However, compared with their middle-aged and their senior counterparts, youth voters may be less likely to get to the polls. Especially in a caucus, where considerable preparation is necessary. One commentator for The Daily Beast speculated that a significant percentage of the crowd Ron Paul drew in Iowa may not be old enough to vote. Ron Paul may therefore draw crowds of students that are enthusiastic about his message, but are unable to when the day of the caucuses or primary arrives.

Furthermore,There are plenty of white people(me) caught up in the Underclass because of This Drug War American self-Immolation.This is why I became involved this year.We are all–Martin Luther King jr.”judge a man by the content of his character”,I might paraphrase:not by the content of his blood–caught in a vicious cycle of neighbor against neighbor(civil war?)over a bunch of nothing.I may be just an idealist, but I want to see peace in my time.Fighting and destroying the very fabric of The American Soul over what high someone wants to feel.If they had legalized some of the lighter stuff, like marijuana ages ago, maybe we wouldn’t have such a problem and anyway Drug addiction is a medical problem not a lifetime legal problem.Did all of America just disinergrate in my lifetime over pot. It’s all a sick joke, with legal Oxy-Roxy-Oxycontinin Holocaust Drugs available from Doctors i.e.if it’s white it’s right.South America and Mexico profiting on The USA.This has gotten so out of hand, with Ghetto people as scapegoats,Wall Streeters Robbing The Country and why not? They already all broke the law in High school and College getting High.I hope Ron Paul is the one to take us back to sanity, but I want guarantees. The Black Religious Communities time to act is now,if not now, when?
This Year is the time of change. Not yes we can,but yes we will…YES WE WILL
and GODSPEED YES WE WILL
I vigorously suggest that The Black Community go to Ron Paul’s people and see if they can get Political Capital for their support. The Republicans will not give nothing–where is Herman Cain now–and Potus doesn’t care about anyone but himself,Tavis Smiley and Dr Cornel West have his number.I would recommend that The Black Community Spokesman get behind Americas Elect dot org.’s Internet Presidential Candidate Nomination process,at least to keep Ron Paul in play.Play off Obama against Paul,A promise to right the wrongs,of what Dr. Michelle Alexander calls “The New Jim Crow” i.e. The Drug Enforcement Civil War Holocaust. The Black Community should make sure they have a voice this year too.Go with whoever will give the goods.I myself would like to see who is the “real deal”
Why is Ron Paul not winning? Look no further then two reasons, the MSM and the establishment GOP.
Example 1: MSM tries to rehash old tired controversies re Ron Paul in Iowa when he was taking the lead. Then the questioned whether Iowa would be relevant if Ron Paul won. This totally ignores the fact that Ron Paul earned that support on his platform. They didn’t raise the same question when others were in the lead. Then the totally disregard the questionable voter fraud that has occurred in Nevada, Maine, Washington. 2: The establishment GOP is thwarting the democratic process at the caucuses. Look no further then Georgia and Missouri where video taped evidence of disregard for the rules has occurred to prevent a true democratic process that might benefit Ron Paul. Why? Because a Ron Paul election would not follow the MSM narrative that has been set in motion. Also, a Ron Paul election win would threaten the establishment GOP and their vision of what the party should be ( sad to say they haven’t evolved).
The irony of course is that the MSM and GOP would both benefit from Ron Paul’s ability to draw in people to the political process. He brings a new audience, a young audience, an energized audience that would bring viewership to the MSM and votes to the GOP. Shunned, perhaps Ron Paul will plant the seed for a third party.

Seattle Washington King County Delegate Vote for March 17,2012
Results: District 46 – Ron Paul 20 delegates, All Others 0 (20 available)
District 36 – Ron Paul 21 delegates, All Others 0 (21 available)
Both of these districts are right in the heart of the city.

Let me tell you the MSM (mainstream media) is full of it. They aren’t accurately reporting ACTUAL delegate results. They are reporting projections from straw polls. As many of you know, delegates at the district committ during caucus voting to go the distance for your candidate. RP supporters were very committed during caucus voting to go to the WA State Covention in May. That’s the difference. Who’s supporters are willing to take three days out of their week to fight for their candidate is where the game is won! Romney and Santorum straw poll voters at our caucus weren’t willing to be committed to the process. So I’m tell you the RP Liberty movement is very strong inspired and if you look at Missouri they are following that trend as well. The MSM reporting of delegates is inaccurate. Be patient for the actual delegate to be revealed in the weeks to come.
Lastly, in our diverse committed group the conversation was all about waistfulness by the intelligence/military industrial complex, the Roman Empire war agenda on the middle east/africa/and South America for the natural resources, the history of the federal reserve and rothchilds involvment in world banking scams which continue with the IMF World Bank and Private (Fake Federal) US Reserve, and CIVIL LIBERTIES which the minority communities need to CLUE IN TO (like Patriot Act, NDAA, NSA spying on citizens without proper procedure etc).
You don’t have to be Republican to support RP. If you believe in freedom and liberty support RP at your state level @ RP2012.com. You’ll be surprised how many of us (minorities) that see eye with the Liberty Movement especially with loved ones in the Arrmed Forces, Police Force etc.

Although I have previously commented, I would like to make one more point here that I think is important. There is a reason that young people overwhelmingly support the message of Ron Paul, and it is not what you may think it is. Certainly his message of fiscal responsibility, personal liberty, and an end to wars of aggression is compelling to the youth, however, what people are overlooking is that this message is also compelling to everybody else once they hear it. The reason young people are more aware is because they do not sit in front of the TV set to get the news. TV news is becoming obsolete to the younger generation. They are using the internet and getting a much broader view and more informed perspective then what you get from the biased “pay for spin” TV News. MSNBC, Fox, and CNN frequently say there are only three candidates in the race. Millions of uninformed TV viewers are influenced by the subtle (or blatant) message that RP is a fringe or non-existent candidate. If the mainstream media continues to propagandize everything in an attempt to own the minds of America, it will not be Ron Paul that loses, but them. The TV news will soon go the way of the newspapers themselves, which is to say downhill and out of business. People are waking up to the fact that the television and mainstream “news” is a mind control device of the establishment. As the baby boomers age and pass away, the mainstream media outlets will become less and less relevant to Americans.
Why isn’t Ron Paul winning or doing much better? Although voter fraud is no doubt a part of it, I am more concerned with the media propaganda machine. From the very beginning of the campaigns, even before the Iowa caucus, the media ignored, dismissed and marginalized Ron Paul. Jon Stewart jokingly called him the “13th floor”. Even after he won some pre caucus straw polls and was showing strong national support, he was scorned by the mainstream media. Throughout the entire campaign season, when Ron Paul is compared with Obama in national polls he does very well. In fact, only Romney and Paul have consistently demonstrated strong polling numbers against Obama, yet all you hear in the “news” is he can’t win, he is a fringe candidate, etc. Romney, Obama, and Santorum all have financial support from Wall Street and Paul does not. He represents a threat to the status quo because he cannot be bought. The biggest problem, as I see it, is a concerted effort on the part of the powers that be to squash the Ron Paul revolution. I am not worried though, because oppressors always lose eventually, the revolution started by Ron Paul is taking over the GOP from within. RP supporters are running for local offices and chairmanships. The revolution is coming, we will get our freedoms back, the only question is when.
Great article. Balanced and well-written. I agree with previous comments. The race is just warming up, however. Now states that have held precinct straw votes move on to district and county then state – Ron Paul may be doing better than some thought.
The most logical explanation is plain old GOP shenanigans. It has been going on in my state, Kansas, particularly noticed after Jim Ryun won, because I was on my way to go talk to him to explain why he lost my vote, as well as other veterans. By the time I got to speak to him, he won the night. Very suspicious. Also, when the Dems swept to victory, only Lynn Jenkins, a GOP darling who will sell US out for her power position, got elected over the favorite Dem, Boyda. That one had head scratching…why?

this sit wont let me link it. There is a short and long version. The long version is 200 pages and has some really intersting “oscilation” analysis around page 150 or so
I like this article alot, but I’m not entirely bought on the explanations as to how someone can generate such large numbers, but receive so little votes.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree such details explain some of the voting issues, but the totality of the issue? Not entirely convinced as yet, atleast.
Sure you have to register as republican (atleast in many states, I believe a number are open polls) and sure he appeals to a young age group aswell, but 5000 people turn up at the pre-polling rally and 80% of them are (essentially) 15 year olds and democrats?… hmm…
From what I have seen, Ron Paul has (both presently and in the last election) received a clear bias against him by all major media outlets (and this article reflects some as that, especially how Romney was portrayed as the winner of the virgin islands caucus).
Infact many large media outlets have gone so out of their way to keep this guy out of the public eye and negate his electability, that you can’t help but think they’ve all been given instructions to do it, and this is where conspiracy theories suddenly become a little more plausible than previously thought..
Playing devils advocate, is it not possible that if a list of such huge media corporations can all be banded together under such focuses, that the people who get them to do it can also manipulate poorly constructed caucus voting results?..
Seriously,Did not Ron Paul speak out about The unfairness in the application of the Drug Laws sort of mirroring what Michelle Alexander has wrote about in “The New Jim Crow” a New York Times Bestseller.I also remember Ron Paul speaking at a Tavis Smiley moderated Forum–check on YouTube–where in specificity,he spoke out against The Racism of The Drug Laws.I say its time The Drug-Enforcement-Civil War-Holocaust would end, this has been our longest war.I think Ron Paul could have captured peoples imaginations better if he had just said:”On The First Day of my Administration,The Drug War is Over,Amnesty is given all are pardoned, and Marijuana is now legal and the rest is up for consideration. It is way past time that The minorities be freed and their rights restored. That’s the kind of “Restoration of America” I’m talking about.
I went to the VA rally Over 2000 people showed up and there was standing room only. Some people had to stand outside it was so crowded. The crowd was very mixed as far as age goes. I think the popularity with young voters is true but I think that he has lots of support from all age groups; the media is down playing that. I for one am not young and I support Ron Paul 100%
What The General Media has called the Battle for The GOP is over. I expect that the Battle for America is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own American life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. Obama knows that he will have to break us in this island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all America may be freed and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands.
But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new dark age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves, that if The RON PAUL REVOLUTION and RON PAUL 2012’s America last for a thousand years, men will still say, This was their finest hour.

I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone..
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

Seeing that most DRP supporters see him as a hail mary last ditch effort to get the country back, I dont think too many people are worried about some “hotly contested Demo issue” so they forego voting for Paul.
I also do not see a demographic in the YouTube videos of Pauls rallies that is too young too vote. It seems quite on the contrary broad and well distributed amoung age groups.
It is odd though, you are right. #1 on small donations from everyday citizens, @1 on campaign rally turn out, #1 in enlisted military personel campaign donations .. yet still trailing the other three status quo, insider, wall street supports running against him?
Odd …
