While I appreciate that doctors promote the use of coconut oil for health reasons I find it annoying that they do not bother to understand what they are writing. Lauric and caprylic acids are NOT Omega-3s. Rather, they are medium chain fatty acids, all saturated. This gave coconut oil a bad reputation for its supposed contribution to cardiovascular disease. More recently, these MCFAs are under investigation for their potential benefits in the amelioration, possibly prevention of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
