TI and Tiny: Is He Really Leaving It All Behind?

(ThyBlackMan.com) It appears that another celebrity couple has joined the ranks of reality television.  Today I had the opportunity to watch the Wendy William’s Show.  Her guests were Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. aka, the rapper T.I. and Tameka Cottle, better known as Tiny, of the former R and B group Xscape.

On the show they discussed TI’s and Tiny’s upcoming reality TV show TI and Tiny’s Hustle.  The show will center on their daily lives and TI’s work or should I say hustle in the rap game.

In her normal Wendy Williams’ take no prisoners- fashion, the talk show host  dug deep in an attempt to discuss TI’s past decisions that led him back to jail numerous times.  I must say that TI handled the interview with class.  He continuously stated, “We’ve moved on and that’s in the past.”  Even at one point during the interview he told her to “take it to the left.”

Now I know in the eyes of the public, especially the African American community T.I. is viewed as a bad influence for the young, African American male and a bad representation of our community.  With his history and run-ins with the law this view is justified.

Personally I was impressed while watching the Wendy Williams interview.  Now I must admit that I am not a big follower of TI, but I do enjoy his music.  Wendy tried her best to drag the past back up and to speak on the negative, but I must say that TI handled it very well.

He sat dressed in his suit and tie and smiled.  Actually he smiled a lot.  While listening and watching the interview I continuously rewarded him for not reacting defensively.  I am trusting that his new reality show will continue to convey his demeanor displayed on the Wendy Williams Show.

He stated that he has learned and grown from his mistakes.  Let’s hope so.  In a short clip on the VH1’s website he stated, “‘you know, at the end of the day, the most important things to me in the world, God, family, hustle, in that order.”

With that being said maybe he has grown and taken something away from his jail time served.  Even though it is evident that the new reality show may be an avenue to reignite his career and increase his bank account, let’s anticipate that he will not only attract new fans, but reveal a more positive side of himself.
